  • Current city that we live in exist many modern architecture have historical meaning and high value. This modern architecture is disappearing because study - definite thesis of concept, division of the time - of preservation wasn't advanced fully and we have the feeling of being victimzed for Japanese imperialism, in addition to lack of recognition for cultural treasure value. These days, a growing number of people tend to focus on preservation and uses of cultural properties including mordern architectures. Therefore, this study aims to figure out constructive uses of mordern architectures by purposing analysis and preservation methods with a selected architectures which deserve to be conserved.

  • Various decorative patterns and sculptures found in antique architectures like palace architecture and temple architecture are not only valuable assets of our culture but have religious meaning at the same time and show aesthetic aspiration and desire of Korean people. In this study, potential application of patterns in textile industry is suggested based on the reconstructed and patternized geometric patterns of window grids, a decorative element in architecture, and stair and stair somaetdol, a architectural element in Buddhist temples, using Photoshop and Illustrator program of Adobe INC AND Tex-pro program of Youngwoo CNI INC. All around the world today, efforts to reinterpret unique and antique architectures and cultural assets in a modern way has been increasing. Decorative patterns displayed in Buddhist temple architectures which are antique Korean architectures have excellent geometric aesthetic value. And the development potential of patternizing these elements into modern designs is high. Therefore, it is thought to be possible to develop high value-added fabric and to develop various fashion items including apparel and interior decoration based on modern reinterpretation of patterns of window grid and decorative elements of stairs and stair somaetol that are part of our antique architectures.

  • As people abroad have been much interested in the usage of modern architecture from the early days, many researches about various methods of using them have been progressed. In Korea, with the need to protect the modern architecture through active usage of them in the dimension of protecting the disappearing history, at present, many modern architectures were renovated and used. This research is to find out the sense of direction about the changes of design of the renovated modern architectures in Korea by analyzing the design changes after the renovations in Korea and abroad. Under the limitation of the modern architecture renovation case in Korea, Japan and China, the changes of design after the modern architecture renovation in Korea and aborad were analyzed by the analysis of the ways of remodelling for each case according to the case analyzing frame. Based on the reasons of renovations which had purpose of preserving social history with many other various reasons in common in both cases of Korean modern architecture remodelling and abroad, the common direction of design is to meet new with old to preserve the special image though they did it in different ways. However, different from the case of Japan and China which are coexisting present and past in space, Korean case focused too much on outside, which resulted in only outside designs. In the case of Korea, the past should have mutual understanding to have the firm space image by forming unique interior space culture through the architectural grafting the present in the past not only in the outside space but also in the indoor space. In another words, for the various changes of design in Korean modern architecture renovations, a systematic research should be done about the interior spaces of present architecture and modern architecture.

  • This study is arranged the principles of the preservation and restoration in pre-modern architecture, presented guideline of the Intoner restoration in there, and attempted relative-analysis by cases of Japan in curtain of Saporo Houheikan. The method of Original- restorations and Repairs must be preserved In materials and technologies in order to hand over the future generations. The process and method of restorations are the important Cultural Properties as Architecture's itself. And Restorations of industrial manufactures hold the the important position in restoration of pre-modern Architectures. Because industrial technologies are developed and forgotten in rapid. Specially, because industrial materials as curtains were apt to recognize as consumption goods, historicity in that are contained the history of fabric, industrial technologies, and relations of traditional technologies. Conclusionaly, restorations of interior materials in our country are required of \circled1the construction of workframe in search and restoration for original preservation, \circled2the conception of refaires and establishment of investigation, \circled3the stocking of restoration-technologies of pre-modern cultural properties of architectures, \circled4the recognitions of record-preservation, \circled5the improvement of organization, upbring of technicians, establishment of theorical systems.

  • In the design of modern computer systems, the speed gap between the CPUs and DRAMs has been a major concern. To relieve this problem at a low cost, several new DRAM architectures have been proposed. This study is aimed at evaluating quantitatively the impact of the new DRAM architectures (synchronous DRAM. dual-RAS synchronous DRAM, and enhanced DRAM) on the memory system performance. We developed a cache and memory simulator and performed various experiments using the traces generated from four benchmark programs. The simulation results show that the new DRAM architectures offer a better performance than a conventional one by 5~30% in a low cost system and their improvement in a high performance system is less than 1%. However, for resonable multiprogramming workoads, additional performance improvement of about 10~28% is expected in a high performance system while 1~3% in a low cost system.

  • In Korea, there still exist a number of modern architectural structures which were built from 1876 - when Korea first opened its port to foreign trade - to the early 1960s. Modern architectures have been rather neglected from the study of Korean architecture history partly because of its short period and negative attitude toward them that they are remains of the Japanese colonial period. However, interest in modern structures is recently increasing, and researches and studies are actively going on. This dissertation is a study on brick laying techniques and design characteristics of Modern brick structure churches in Jeonbuk-province. The results demonstrate that modern brick structure churches in Jeonbuk-province have become small and simple with time and that their structures and designs are closely related.

  • A city is the space which has a various historical experiment and memories. From these social and cultural environment, regional competitions through the introduction and settlement of a local self-government have been important in city marketing. For city development, a serial activation policies are come and in this process the native history and cultures have recognized as the core tool of cities. For possession of city competition, we have developed the cities' tangible and/or intangible cultural properties and make full use of a attractive asset. The city identity is established and the opportunity of a special space is made. This city identity has been dependent on spending time. We suggest the strategy for the historical and cultural city image through the historical element and the development of program for the promotion of publicity activities. The preservation and application of the modern architectures as the cultural and historical element promote the city image and build the position of city identity. We suggest the city marketing application strategy for the implication on the sustainable reproductive city.

  • The purpose of the research is to reveal the process of the formation of modern church architecture in 20th century. In order to do that, neo-gothic architecture which starts in the point of view of ethic in the 19th century will be discussed first. Then the relations between Arts and Crafts Movement and church architecture which is the beginning of modern architecture movement will be revealed. After that, the purpose of Secession's church architecture which tried to separate from old architecture and the formation of background of localistic church architecture which is one of the modern church architecture will be discussed. Based on those discussions, the research in concluded the several characteristics of church architecture which makes it modern architecture. The research is focused to the portions which is related to the church architectures among the architectural conditions so complicated as to be easily confused. And also it is focused the architect those who should be mentioned in the same context and their works.

  • The importance of avionics systems has increased to a significant level in modern aircraft development. Modern avionics system is a complex integrated system of state-of-art hardware and software technology. Specifying the avionics system architecture is the most important task throughout the avionics system design process. This paper reviews modern avionics system architectures and proposes an effective avionics architecture suitable for modern attack helicopters.
