  • The objective of the present work is to investigate the effect of cutting parameters (Vc, fz and ap) on tool life and the level of vibrations velocity in the machined part during face milling operation of hardened AISI 52100 steel. Dry-face milling has been achieved in the annealed (28 HRc) and quenched (55 HRc) conditions using multi-layer coating micro-grain carbide inserts. Statistical analysis based on the Response surface methodology (RSM) and ANOVA analysis have been conducted through a plan of experiments methodology using a reduced Taguchi table (L9) in order to obtain engineering models for tool life and vibration velocity in the workpiece for both heat treatment conditions. The results show that the cutting speed has a dominant influence on tool life for both soft and hard part. Cutting speed and feed per tooth is the most significant parameters for vibration levels. Comparing the experimental values with those predicted by the developed engineering models of tool life and levels of vibrations velocity, a good correlation has been obtained (between 97% and 99%) in annealed and hard conditions.

  • In this study, the effects of physical parameters (30-270 MPa of pressure, 3-57 min of time, and 1-$49^{\circ}C$ of temperature) on pork quality were investigated. Response surface methodology was used in order to monitor and model the changes in pork quality under varied pressure conditions. As quality characteristics, shear force, water holding capacity (WHC) and the CIE color of pork were measured, and optimum pressure conditions were evaluated by statistical modeling. Pressure improved the WHC of pork at relatively low temperature ($<25^{\circ}C$); however, the opposite occurred with increasing temperature. Although pressure and temperature affected the tenderness of the meat, interaction effects among variations were not observed. At pressure levels higher than 200 MPa, the color of pork differed markedly from that of the untreated controls. In particular, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) revealed marked evidence of myosin denaturation. The present study demonstrates that pork quality varies depending on pressure conditions.

  • A reactive piloting policy for Flexible Assembly Lines (FAL) is proposed, where the sequencing of the operations as well as the assignment of tasks to manipulators are not predetermined but driven by the actual state of the FAL For all work-in-process coming from a manipulator, the next destination is determined by minimizing a temporal criterion taking into account the time needed to reach the destination, the load of the manipulator to reach, the durati on of the operation to be completed in the destination manipulator, and the availability of product components in this manipulator. The purpose of proposed piloting policy is to manufacture a given quantity of products as rapidly as possible by balancing the amount of work allocated to manipulators and to reduce the efforts required for scheduling the production of short series of diversified products. After introducing the characteristics of assembly processes and FAL modelization, the proposed algorithm is evaluated by simulations. The simulations of the proposed algorithm showed satisfactory results.

  • The ubiquitous technology is capable of innovating various area to constructing intelligent and network to all objects. This technology can construct network infrastructure to facilities for applying legacy industry and need to develop intelligent service that analyze context-aware through network. This paper derive and propose the introduction range of ubiquitous technology, which should be testified and analyzed network, and studied the detection and analysis of information for managing gas facilities. We investigate the current status of gas facilities and automatic reading system, testing and analyzing wireless personal area network and mobile communication by scalability, self-configuration, connection in underground. Furthermore, we propose modelization method for intelligent service and derive the introduction range for applying ubiquitous technologies for managing gas facilities.
