NUMERICAL STUDY ON THE TURBOPUMP INDUCER (터보펌프 인듀서에 대한 수치해석적 연구)

  • The present study focuses on the flow analysis of a turbo pump inducer by performing both numerical and experimental methods. The head rise, efficiency and detailed flow fields such as outlet flow angles, pressure and velocity vectors are measured and compared with the computational data. Generally a good agreement is obtained between numerical and experimental results. However, some discrepancies are observed due to complex flow structures inside the inducer. Future calculations with an advanced turbulence model and a dense computational grid needs to be performed to obtain accurate numerical solution for the detailed flow fields.

  • Significant air temperature increases in urban areas are known as the heat island phenomenon in a global scale. Therefore, we use numerical model in order to analyze quantitative effects by using new & renewable energy on the heat island phenomenon in urban area. The present study quantitatively analyzes the Urban Heat Island Effects, Energy-Saving Effects, and Environmental Load Decrease Effect along New and Renewable Energy Application which is 10% of the Building Energy Consumption.

  • Renal tubular acidosis (RTA) is a metabolic acidosis due to impaired excretion of hydrogen ion, or reabsorption of bicarbonate, or both by the kidney. These renal tubular abnormalities can occur as an inherited disease or can result from other disorders or toxins that affect the renal tubules. Disorders of bicarbonate reclamation by the proximal tubule are classified as proximal RTA, whereas disorders resulting from a primary defect in distal tubular net hydrogen secretion or from a reduced buffer trapping in the tubular lumen are called distal RTA. Hyperkalemic RTA may occur as a result of aldosterone deficiency or tubular insensitivity to its effects. The clinical classification of renal tubular acidosis has been correlated with our current physiological model of how the nephron excretes acid, and this has facilitated genetic studies that have identified mutations in several genes encoding acid and base ion transporters. Growth retardation is a consistent feature of RTA in infants. Identification and correction of acidosis are important in preventing symptoms and guide approved genetic counseling and testing.

  • In this paper, RETScreen program model has been investigated to predict the economic analysis for greenhouse and livestock facility. Load calculation result was 35.2[kW] of greenhouse and the calculation result of livestock facility was 35.5[kW]. Also, a case study of the RETScreen program indicated that the equity payback is 6.9 years for a greenhouse facility and the equity payback is 9.5 years for a livestock facility.

  • Partial discharge measurement using a ultrasonic technique allows us to detect degradation of the electrical insulation in a power transformer. However, The ultrasonic measurement studies don't offer a good solution in operating conditions. In this paper, we investigated characteristics of ultrasonic noise caused by a 345kV power transformer under operating conditions. The ultrasonic noises generated by corona in air, vibration of core, pump and fan, etc. An ultrasonic frequency caused by corona in air was appeared 9 and 18[MHz] at the outside wall of the transformer. And a spectra of core vibration was detected below 2.5[kHz]. These spectrum were compared with 20 $\sim$ 200[kHz] of the internal partial discharge in the model transformer.

  • Rarefied gas flows through two-dimensional micro channels are studied numerically for the performance optimization of a nanomembrane-based Knudsen compressor. The effects of the wall temperature distributions on the thermal transpiration flow patterns are examined. The flow has a pumping effect, and the mass flow rates through the channel are calculated. The results show that a steady one-way flow is induced for a wide range of the Knudsen number. The DSMC(direct simulation Monte Carlo) method with VHS(variable hard sphere) model and NTC(no time counter) techniques has been applied in this work to obtain numerical solutions. A critical element that drives Knudsen compressor Is the thermal transpiration membrane. The membranes are based on aerosol or machined aerogel. The aerogel is modeled as a single micro flow channel.

  • The performance of a heat pump using $CO_2$ is predicted and analyzed by using a cycle simulation model developed in this study. Cycle simulations are conducted by varying design parameters and operating conditions with the applications of advanced techniques to improve system performance. The applied systems in the simulations are internal heat exchanger, expander, and 2-stage compression with intercooling. As a result, the applications of advanced techniques improve the heating and cooling performances of the transcritical $CO_2$ cycle by 8∼26% and 20∼30%, respectively, over the basic cycle.

  • A theoretical and experimental study is performed to investigate the characteristics of ice slurry product. By diffusion-controlled evaporation model the possibility of ice slurry is theoretically anticipated. The water vapor evaporated from the surface of droplets is extracted continuously from the chamber by a vacuum pump. The droplet diameter is measured by silicon immersion method. The ice slurry is obtained by spraying droplets of ethylene glycol aqueous solution in the chamber where pressure is maintained under the triple point of water. The droplet with the diameter of 300 $\mu\textrm{m}$and the initial temperature of 2$0^{\circ}C$ was changed into ice particle within the chamber of 1.33m in height.

  • Active suspension systems have been using for improving ride quality and stability for vehicles. An active suspension system is composed of a hydraulic pump, pressure control valves, hydraulic dampers, vehicle body, tires and other components. In this study, the mathematical model for the active suspension system based on the quarter car concept is derived, and a program for analysing the dynamic behaviour of the suspension system is developed. The computed results by the developed program are compared with the experimental results for confirming the reliability and usefulness of the developed program.

  • In this study, in order to investigate the influence of cam profile on the injection rate, the characteristics of injection in PLN (pump - line - nozzle) diesel injection system were simulated. Six types of the profile of fuel cam were used for simulation. The maximum injection pressure and maximum injection rate of initial and end phase were analyzed to demonstrate the characteristics of injection. The mathematical model of the injection system and the computation results were verified by experimental results. Simulation results showed that the maximum injection pressure, maximum injection rate, injection quantity and pressure drop in the end phase were proportional to the velocity of fuel cam during the effective stroke.
