  • Objectives: This study aimed to adapt the survey questionnaire designed by Moens et al. (2021) and determine the validity and reliability of the Arabic version of the survey in a sample of the Saudi population experiencing teleworking. Methods: The questionnaire includes 2 sections. The first consists of 13 items measuring the impact of extended telework during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis. The second section includes 6 items measuring the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on selfview of telework and digital meetings. The survey instrument was translated based on the guidelines for the cultural adaptation of self-administrated measures. Results: The reliability of the questionnaire responses was measured by Cronbach's alpha. The construct validity was checked through exploratory factor analysis followed by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to further assess the factor structure. CFA revealed that the model had excellent fit (root mean square error of approximation, 0.00; comparative fit index, 1.0; Tucker-Lewis index, 1; standardized root mean squared residual, 0.0). Conclusions: The Arabic version of the teleworking questionnaire had high reliability and good validity in assessing experiences and perceptions toward teleworking. While the validated survey examined perceptions and experiences during COVID-19, its use can be extended to capture experiences and perceptions during different crises.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify that the modified Lagrangian model can predict temperature, flow and scalar fields in the high temperature recirculation region of swirling confined diffusion flame. In the meantime numerical results from EBU and Equilibrium PDF models as well as experimental results are compared with those from the modified Lagrangian model. Adaption of three different turbulent models were accompanied with this procedure. Look-up table of the ignition characteristic time scale which is one of important factors of the Lagrangian model was referred to the 11-step reduced mechanism. Eventually, results with the Lagrangian model show a good accordance with experimental results, which shows the validity of this model. Results from Chen's model differ from those of the others. Numerical results of ${\widetilde{k}$ show significant deviation from experimental results for three models.

  • In this letter, a simple model parameter extraction methodology for an on-chip spiral inductor is proposed based on a wide-band inductor model that incorporates parallel inductance and resistance to model skin and proximity effects, and capacitance to model the decrease in series resistance above the frequency near the peak quality factor. The wide-band inductor model does not require any frequency dependent elements, and model parameters can be extracted directly from the measured data with some curve fitting. The validity of the proposed model and parameter extraction methodology are verified with various size inductors fabricated using $0.18\;{\mu}m$ CMOS technology.

  • The cardiac activation process uslng three dimensional ventricular model is simulated. To study this theme, we constructed a cardiac ventricular model and simulated the cardiac activation process using the action potential duration and the activation time. The cardiac ventricular model is generated by the loglcal combination of the elliptic equations. The action potential duration could be obtained from the fact that It Is linearly distributed between model cells. The cardiac activation process was simulated by the law of "all-or-none". Based on the activation time and the action potential duration the cardiac potential at the arbitrary time after the activation of the model cell was computed. To test the validity of model, the comparison of the results of model simulation with the physiological data was performed. In conclusion, this model shows the simular results which is comparable to the 1 Pal conduction of the cardlac excitation.xcitation.

  • This paper develops a disaggregate model system for travel behavior of workers in a metropolitan area. We attempt to develop a set of models for predicting trip generation type, trip purpose, destination, mode choices in each trip on the way from work to home by using the concept of utility maximization of base-to-base tour. The model incorporates the concept that decisions of a trip in a trip in a travel tour depend on decisions of the trips having been made before and decisions of trip planned after of this trip, as well as on current trip conditions. As the structure of the model, the nested logit model is used to avoid a simultaneous model's complexity. The data to be used for estimating the model system are from the person trip survey which was carried out in 1981 in Nagoya metropolitan. Empirical tests of the model for Nagoya metropolitan area show encouraging results and prove the validity of the assumption of this model.

  • This paper introduces a channel model that is a combination of Rice and log-normal statistics, with independent shadowing affectingeach direct and diffuse component, repectively. This model extends the channel model of a combined Rice and Log-normal, proposed by Corazza, to include the independent shadowing. The validity of model is confirmed by comparisons with the data collectedin the literature, the analytical model, and the computer model in terms of probability distribution of the evvelope of each model. The model turns out to be one of many well-known narrowband models in limiting cases, e.g. Rayleigh, Rice, log-normal, Suzuki, Loo, and Corazza. Finally, the examples of bit error probability evaluations for several values of the elevation angle in the channel are provided.

  • We proposed an optimum PID controller design method of the Smith Predictor It can be applied to various processes. The real process is approximated via the second order plus time delay model (SOPTD) whose parameters are specified through a model reduction algorithm. We already proposed a new model reduction method that considered four point in the Nyquist curve to reduced the steady state error between the real process model and the reduced model using the gradient decent method and the genetic algorithms. In addition, the Smith predictor is used to compensate time delay of the real process model. In this paper, the new optimum parameter tuning algorithm for PID controller of the Smith Predictor is proposed through ITAE as performance index. The Simulation results show the validity and improvement of performance for various processes.

  • Many kinds of methods have been developed to carry out transverse analysis of prestressed concrete(PSC) box girder bridges. However, most bridge engineers only use the simple frame model to analyze PSC box girder in transverse direction because of its simplicity and easy usage. But, this frame model has many problems such that it can't consider warping, distortion and longitudinal load distribution. In this study, the results from simple frame model and 3-dimensional shell model with UIC load are compared to show its validity. The results from frame model are slightly larger than those of shell model in symmetric loading case. But, positive bending moment of top slab is larger in shell model than frame model in case subject to anti-symmetric loading. It shows that simple frame model can't always give conservative results, so a practical tool whose treatment is easy and whose product is reliable shall be developed as soon as possible.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the prediction model of VO2max using submaximal metabolic responses from the Bruce protocol, HR responses at several stages and 1,200 m running record, and to compare and analyse the validity of these prediction models. The subjects were consisted of 255 male(133 male for 1,200 m running). They were participated maximal exercise testing with Bruce protocol, and the metabolic responses were measured in the end of the first(3 minute), second stage(6 minute), and 1,200 m running record. Measurement items were VO2(㎖/kg/min), VCO2(㎖/kg/min), VE(L/min), HR(bpm) of 3 and 6 minute, time to HR 150 bpm and 170 bpm, HR difference between Bruce protocol 6 and 3 minute, 1,200 m running record. Analyzing with all variables using enter method, the multiple R of total variable model was 0.642(p<.01), SEE was 4.38 ㎖/kg/min, CV was 10.8 %, but multicolinearity was appeared. The multiple R of 3 minutes model 1 and model 2 were 0.341 and 0.461, SEE was 6.05 and 5.72 ㎖/kg/min, CV was 14.9 and 14.1%, and multicolinearity did not appeared. The multiple R of 6 minutes model 1 and model 2 were 0.350 and 0.456, SEE was 6.03 and 5.74 ㎖/kg/min, CV was 14.9 and 14.2%, and multicolinearity did not appeared. The R of HR 170 and HR 170 model were 0.151 and 0.154, SEE were 6.36~6.37 ㎖/kg/min, CV were 15.7%. The R of 1,200 m running model was 0.444, SEE was 4.82 ㎖/kg/min, CV were 11.9%. In conclusion, with considering usefulness and convenience through the validity of these prediction models, the prediction model of VO2max recommended 6 and 3 minute model, and the validity of HR model and 1,200 m running model were moderately low.
