  • This paper provides a failure pressure evaluation model for local wall-thinned elbows. In this study, parametric finite element analyses are performed on the elbows containing local wall-thinning defect at their intrados and extrados, and the failure pressures are obtained from the analysis results by applying a local failure criterion that was validated by real-scale pipe tests. An evaluation model including the effects of thinning depth, length, circumferential angle, thinning location, and elbow geometries on the failure pressure is derived based on the evaluated failure pressures. The proposed model agrees well with the results of finite element analyses and reasonably estimates the dependence of failure pressure on the wall-thinning dimensions and elbow geometries. Also, the comparison with experimental data demonstrates that the proposed evaluation model can accurately predict the failure pressure of local wall-thinned elbows.

  • In this paper, the definition to flexibility is examined through the literature and re-classified to set up an evaluation model. Flexibility is classified into three categories to find the flexibility types for evaluation. The flexibility type called as manufacturing flexibility is defined and a model is developed to make the performance evaluation possible, The manufacturing flexibility has a heavy relationship to the machine flexibility; and 5 flexibility types out of 8 have relationship to the machine flexibility. This indicates that it is possible to have a pretty good evaluation measure if the machine flexibility related types could be evaluated using a model. There are four different inter-arrival times in the model. A big time saving is observed if the processing time is set equal to 72 second. This indicates that a flexibility affects the system a lot if the inter-arrival time is close to the processing time. The model used in this paper includes multi-processes in a production line with machine failure. However, development of realistic models with buffer between processes and some of the flexibility types not included in this model are remained for further research.

  • The aim of this paper is to develop a performance evaluation model for PPP (Public-Private Partnership) projects that appropriately reflects the important traits that are unique to PPP projects. To this end, 1) it defines a set of distinct perspectives involved in the PPP projects and their associated success factors that might differ amongst the perspectives; 2) it identifies the key performance indicators and suggests the performance evaluation criteria for each indicator; and 3) it builds a performance evaluation model by matching the success factors from each perspective with performance measure criteria as well as applies the model to the two selected BTO road projects in Korea. The process of model construction and its application confirms significant differences between the main stakeholder perspectives typically involved in PPP projects, which highlights the need for an evaluation model tailored for PPP projects by taking into account the distinct perspectives. The results from the PPP evaluation model developed in the study is compared against the results from the existing ex-post evaluation model for construction projects in general. The former shows a closer match with the results from the user satisfaction survey conducted. This new evaluation framework and the performance indicators entailed in it permits a balanced evaluation of PPP projects as it takes into account different perspectives involved in PPP projects as well as an understanding of the factors affecting the success of PPP projects. While the construction of the model is based on transport projects, it is applicable to different types of PPP projects through variation with the weight allocation amongst different success factors and/or additions or other adjustments to the performance evaluation criteria as required.

  • This research aims to develop a model to objectively and quantitatively measure the skill level of aircraft body assembly workers. Because aircraft body assembly is predominantly a manual process, skills management is a key factor of manufacturing competitiveness. Currently, skills management relies on the subjective judgment of supervisors, which lacks objectivity and reliability. As a remedy, this study proposed a systematic skill management model based on objective and quantitative evaluation criteria. By considering prior research, we developed an evaluation model that takes into account both expertise and versatility of a worker. The model selected five major tasks required for aircraft body assembly and established evaluation criteria considering the difficulty and maturity of each task. We then conducted a pilot evaluation with over 200 workers in four SMEs to validate the practicality and effectiveness of the model. Consequently, we identified and addressed the limitations of the existing evaluation method, subdivided the skill levels based on the performance capabilities of each task, and proposed a career growth path. The developed evaluation model offers critical data for executives and managers to determine work assignments, education, training, performance incentives, and wages. It is expected to enhance the attraction of new talent and systematize skills management in aviation manufacturing in the future.

  • This study aims to develop a potential centrality evaluation model (PCEM) which can evaluate the potential centrality of villages within the catchment boundaries. PCEM is a tool for evaluation of villages\` centralities by the potential centrality index (PCI) developed in this study. For quantification of PCI, total 31 evaluation criteria on the accessibility to other villages and the natural and human environment of the village were introduced. The weighting values of criteria were calculated from the step wise pair-comparision results of 14 specialists in academic fields on rural planning using by AHP (Analytic Hierachy Process) of MCE (multi-criteria evaluation) method. In the results, the weighting values of the spatial accessibility, the natural environments and the human environments were 448, 338 and 214, respectively, among total value being 1,000.

  • There are no objective standards for selection and improvement of SLA evaluation metrics for IT service. In this study, we analyze the current IT maturity models for selection and improvement of the metrics and then we derive them according to the maturity levels and propose the redesigned maturity model. To verify whether the model is applicable, we execute a case study based on the D company. We apply the proposed evaluation metrics of the maturity models to the D company and evaluate the metrics. We select a proper level of the D company and an improvement line after measuring evaluation metrics in the maturity level 2. We propose improvement guidelines of evaluation metrics which score is less than the improvement line's and derive SLA evaluation metrics. By using the SLA evaluation metrics for a year, we prove that the way of selection and improvement is useful.

  • In the paper, we builds an advanced new credit evaluation system for Micro-small sized individual firms through appropriate evaluation factors derived by logistic regression analysis for credit evaluation model using in Korean Federation of Credit Guarantee Foundations, and the weights of factors computed by analytic hierarchy process(AHP). Industry characteristics are more applied to previous credit model with the additional the financial fact-information and non-financial judgement-information. Our results show that the financial factors have become more important than three years ago. Moreover, in the non-financial factors, the fact-information factors consider more important then the judgement-information factors. A new credit evaluation system is developed based on this credit evaluation model.

  • Nowadays, Information Technology(IT) has become one of the most critical managerial decision areas, because its role in the business practice tends to be more important and hence the amount of the investment in growing. Since there is no dominant and promising measure to evaluate the IT performance, the managements have difficulties on the decision process for IT investment. In this paper, we propose an IT performance evaluation model. The proposed model starts with finding the business performance evaluation areas and the corresponding KPIs, and then concentrates on the IT performance evaluation areas corresponding to the business performance evaluation areas. To extract the specific and reliable KPIs for the IT performance measure, we map the business performance evaluation areas into the corresponding IT performance evaluation areas and then combine and adjust these KPIs with the KPIs obtained from the experiential field interview. Finally, We present the complete model which has 11 business performance indices and 48 IT performance indices are completed.
