An electrical power utility, like an electrical power pole, includes various kinds of sensors for smart services. Temperature data is considered one of the important factors that can influence the smart operations of this utility. This study suggests a method for temperature data analysis for deciding the status of the smart electrical power utilities by using Kalman Filter and Ensemble Model. The suggested approach separates the temperature data according to the different positions of the temperature sensors of a utility, then uses Kalman Filter and Ensemble Model to analyse the characteristics of the temperature variation. With detailed processes, method explains the variation between an external temperature factor like weather temperature data and the sensed temperature data, and then, analysis the temperature data from each position of electrical power utilities. In this process, the suggested method uses Kalman Filter to remove error data and the ensemble model to find out mean value of every hour of electrical data. The result and discussion of temperature analysis were described clearly with the analysed results of electrical data. Finally, we were able to check the working condition of the power devices and the range of the temperature data foe each devices, which may help to indicate any causalities with respect to the devices in the utility pole.
High turbidity in source water can have adverse effects on water treatment plant operations and aquatic ecosystems, necessitating turbidity management. Consequently, research aimed at predicting river turbidity continues. This study developed a multi-class classification model for prediction of turbidity using LightGBM (Light Gradient Boosting Machine), a representative ensemble machine learning algorithm. The model utilized data that was classified into four classes ranging from 1 to 4 based on turbidity, from low to high. The number of input data points used for analysis varied among classes, with 945, 763, 95, and 25 data points for classes 1 to 4, respectively. The developed model exhibited precisions of 0.85, 0.71, 0.26, and 0.30, as well as recalls of 0.82, 0.76, 0.19, and 0.60 for classes 1 to 4, respectively. The model tended to perform less effectively in the minority classes due to the limited data available for these classes. To address data imbalance, the SMOTE (Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique) algorithm was applied, resulting in improved model performance. For classes 1 to 4, the Precision and Recall of the improved model were 0.88, 0.71, 0.26, 0.25 and 0.79, 0.76, 0.38, 0.60, respectively. This demonstrated that alleviating data imbalance led to a significant enhancement in Recall of the model. Furthermore, to analyze the impact of differences in input data composition addressing the input data imbalance, input data was constructed with various ratios for each class, and the model performances were compared. The results indicate that an appropriate composition ratio for model input data improves the performance of the machine learning model.

As Korean literature spreads around the world, its position in the overseas publishing market has become important. As demand in the overseas publishing market continues to grow, it is essential to predict future book sales and analyze the characteristics of books that have been highly favored by overseas readers in the past. In this study, we proposed ensemble learning based prediction model and analyzed characteristics of the cumulative sales of more than 5,000 copies classified as good sellers published overseas over the past 5 years. We applied the five ensemble learning models, i.e., XGBoost, Gradient Boosting, Adaboost, LightGBM, and Random Forest, and compared them with other machine learning algorithms, i.e., Support Vector Machine, Logistic Regression, and Deep Learning. Our experimental results showed that the ensemble algorithm outperforms other approaches in troubleshooting imbalanced data. In particular, the LightGBM model obtained an AUC value of 99.86% which is the best prediction performance. Among the features used for prediction, the most important feature is the author's number of overseas publications, and the second important feature is publication in countries with the largest publication market size. The number of evaluation participants is also an important feature. In addition, text mining was performed on the four book reviews that sold the most among good-selling books. Many reviews were interested in stories, characters, and writers and it seems that support for translation is needed as many of the keywords of "translation" appear in low-rated reviews.
In this study, a proposed ensemble learning technique aims to enhance the semantic segmentation performance of images captured by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). With the increasing use of UAVs in fields such as urban planning, there has been active development of techniques utilizing deep learning segmentation methods for land cover segmentation. The study suggests a method that utilizes prominent segmentation models, namely U-Net, DeepLabV3, and Fully Convolutional Network (FCN), to improve segmentation prediction performance. The proposed approach integrates training loss, validation accuracy, and class score of the three segmentation models to enhance overall prediction performance. The method was applied and evaluated on a land cover segmentation problem involving seven classes: buildings, roads, parking lots, fields, trees, empty spaces, and areas with unspecified labels, using images captured by UAVs. The performance of the ensemble model was evaluated by mean Intersection over Union (mIoU), and the results of comparing the proposed ensemble model with the three existing segmentation methods showed that mIoU performance was improved. Consequently, the study confirms that the proposed technique can enhance the performance of semantic segmentation models.

In this paper, we compare the classification performances of both ensemble and clustering algorithms (Data Bagging, Variable Selection Bagging, Parameter Combining, Clustering) to logistic regression in consideration of various characteristics of input data. Four factors used to simulate the logistic model are (1) correlation among input variables (2) variance of observation (3) training data size and (4) input-output function. In view of the unknown relationship between input and output function, we use a Taguchi design to improve the practicality of our study results by letting it as a noise factor. Experimental study results indicate the following: When the level of the variance is medium, Bagging & Parameter Combining performs worse than Logistic Regression, Variable Selection Bagging and Clustering. However, classification performances of Logistic Regression, Variable Selection Bagging, Bagging and Clustering are not significantly different when the variance of input data is either small or large. When there is strong correlation in input variables, Variable Selection Bagging outperforms both Logistic Regression and Parameter combining. In general, Parameter Combining algorithm appears to be the worst at our disappointment.
We propose a novel scheme for digital audio authentication of given audio files which are edited by inserting small audio segments from different environmental sources. The purpose of this research is to detect inserted sections from given audio files. We expect that the proposed method will assist human investigators by notifying suspected audio section which considered to be recorded or transmitted on different environments. GMM-UBM and GSV-SVM are applied for modeling the dominant environment of a given audio file. Four kinds of likelihood ratio based scores and SVM score are used to measure the likelihood for a dominant environment model. We also use an ensemble score which is a combination of the aforementioned five kinds of scores. In the experimental results, the proposed method shows the lowest average equal error rate when we use the ensemble score. Even when dominant environments were unknown, the proposed method gives a similar accuracy.
Recently, solar power generation shows the significant growth in the renewable energy field. Using the short-term prediction, it is possible to control the electric power demand and the power generation plan of the auxiliary device. However, a short-term prediction can be used when you know the weather forecast. If it is not possible to use the weather forecast information because of disconnection of network at the island and the mountains or for security reasons, the accuracy of prediction is not good. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed a system capable of short-term prediction of solar power generation amount by using only the weather information that has been collected by oneself. We used temperature, humidity and insolation as weather information. We have applied a moving average to each information because they had a characteristic of time series. It was composed of min, max and average of each information, differences of mutual information and gradient of it. An artificial neural network, SVM and RBF Network model was used for the prediction algorithm and they were combined by Ensemble method. The results of this suggest that using a moving average during pre-processing and ensemble prediction models will maximize prediction accuracy.

Application (app) ratings are feedback provided voluntarily by users and serve as important evaluation criteria for apps. However, these ratings can often be biased owing to insufficient or missing votes. Additionally, significant differences have been observed between numeric ratings and user reviews. This study aims to predict the numeric ratings of Google apps using machine learning classifiers. It exploits numeric app ratings provided by users as training data and returns authentic mobile app ratings by analyzing user reviews. An ensemble learning model is proposed for this purpose that considers term frequency/inverse document frequency (TF/IDF) features. Three TF/IDF features, including unigrams, bigrams, and trigrams, were used. The dataset was scraped from the Google Play store, extracting data from 14 different app categories. Biased and unbiased user ratings were discriminated using TextBlob analysis to formulate the ground truth, from which the classifier prediction accuracy was then evaluated. The results demonstrate the high potential for machine learning-based classifiers to predict authentic numeric ratings based on actual user reviews.
With the advent of applicant tracking systems, online recruitment has become more popular, and recruitment fraud has become a serious problem. This research aims to develop a reliable model to detect recruitment fraud in online recruitment environments to reduce cost losses and enhance privacy. The main contribution of this paper is to provide an automated methodology that leverages insights gained from exploratory analysis of data to distinguish which job postings are fraudulent and which are legitimate. Using EMSCAD, a recruitment fraud dataset provided by Kaggle, we trained and evaluated various single-classifier and ensemble-classifier-based machine learning models, and found that the ensemble classifier, the random forest classifier, performed best with an accuracy of 98.67% and an F1 score of 0.81.

This paper proposes a network intrusion detection system that identifies abnormal flows within the network. The majority of datasets commonly used in research lack time-series information, making it challenging to improve detection rates for attacks with fewer instances due to a scarcity of sample data. However, there is insufficient research regarding detection approaches. In this study, we build upon previous research by using the Artificial neural network(ANN) model and a stack ensemble technique in our approach. To address the aforementioned issues, we incorporate temporal information by leveraging adjacent flows and enhance the learning of samples from sparse attacks, thereby improving both the overall detection rate and the detection rate for sparse attacks.
