Because conventional switching converters have been usually using unbalanced circuit topologies, parasitice between the drain/collertor of an active switch and frame ground through its heat sink may generate the commom-mode conducted noise. We have proposed a balanced switching converter circuit, whitch is an effective way to reduce the commom-mode converter version of the balanced switching converter was presented and the mechanism of the commom-mode noise reduction was explained using equivalent circuits. This paper extends the concept of the balanced switch converter circuit and presents a buck-boost converter version of the blanced switching converter. The feature of common-mode niose reduction is confirmed by experimental resuits and the mechanisem of the commom-mode niose reduction is explained using equivalent circuits.

This paper presents the design method of current-mode signal processing for high speed and low power digital audio signal processing. The digital audio processor requires a digital signal processing such as fast Fourier transform (FFT), which has a problem of large power consumption according to the settled point number and high speed operation. Therefore, a current-mode signal processing with a switched Current (SI) circuit was employed to the digital audio signal processing because a limited battery life should be considered for a low power operation. However, current memory that construct a SI circuit has a problem called clock-feedthrough. In this paper, we examine the connection of dummy MOS that is the common solution of clock-feedthrough and are willing to calculate the relation of width between dummy MOS for a proposal of the design methodology for improvement of current memory. As a result of simulation, in case of that the width of memory MOS is 20um, ratio of input current and bias current is 0.3, the relation of width between switch MOS and dummy MOS is $W_{M4}=1.95W_{M3}+1.2$ for the width of switch MOS is 2~5um, it is $W_{M4}=0.92W_{M3}+6.3$ for the width of switch MOS is 5~10um. Then the defined relation of MOS transistors can be a useful design guidance for a high speed low power digital audio processor.

PSPICE modeling of a commercial LED driver IC (TOP245P) and PC817A optocoupler is proposed for the switch-mode power supply (SMPS) (applicable to LED driver) design and simulation. An analog behavioral model of the TOP245P IC including the shunt regulator, under-voltage(UV) detection, over-voltage(OV) shut-down and SR flip-flop is developed by using PSPICE. The empirical equation of PC817A current transfer ratio (CTR) is fitted from the datasheet of PC817A. Two types of SMPSs are simulated with the averaged-model and switching-model. The simulation results by the proposed PSPICE models are in good agreement with those in the data sheet and an experimental data.

In this thesis, improved full wave mode ZVT(Zero-Voltage-Transition) PMW DC-DC Converters are presented to maximize the regeneration ratio of resonant energy by only putting an additional diode In series with the auxiliary switch. The operation of the auxiliary switch in a half wave mode makes it possible soft switching operation of all switches including the auxiliary switch whereas it is turned off with hard switching in conventional converter. The increase of the regeneration ratio to resonant energy results in low commutation losses and minimum voltage and current stresses. The operation principles of the improved ZVT PWM DC-DC Converters are theoretically analyzed using the boost converter topology as an example. Both theoretical analysis and experimental results verify the validity of the PWM boost converter topology with the improved full wave mode ZVT PWM converters.
An input and output buffering ATM switch conventionally operates in either Queueloss mode or Backpressure mode. Recently, a new mode, which is called Hybrid mode, was proposed to overcome the drawbacks of Queueloss mode and Backpressure mode. In Hybrid mode, when both the destined output buffer and the originfted input buffer are full, a cell is dropped. This thesis analyzes the cell loss rate and the cell delay of Queueloss, Backpressure and Hybrid modes in a switch adopting output-port expansion scheme under uniform traffic. Output-port expansion scheme allows only one cell from an input buffer to be switched during one time slot. If several cells switch to a same destined output port, the number of maximum transfer cells is restricted to K (Output-port expansion ratio). The simulation results show that if an offered load is less than 0.9, Hybrid mode has lower cell loss rate than the other modes; otherwise, Queueloss mode illustrates the lowest cell loss rate, which is a different result from previous researches. However, the difference between Hybrid and Queueloss modes is comparably small. As expected, the average cell delay in Backpressure mode is lower than those of Queueloss mode and Hybrid mode, since the cell delay due to the retransmission of higher number of dropped cells in Backpressure mode is not considered.
This paper presents an improved three-phase PFC power rectifier with a three-phase diode rectifier cascaded four-switch boost converter. Its operating principle contains the operating principle of two conventional three-phase PFC power rectifiers: one switch boost converter type and a two switch boost converter type. The operating characteristics of the four switch boost converter type three-phase PFC power rectifier are evaluated from a practical point of view, being compared with one switch boost converter type and two switch boost converter topologies.

A new slip power recovery system applying a switch mode converter to the rotor circuit of the wound rotor induction machine is proposed and investigated in this paper. With the analysis of the steady-state performances of the proposed system, it can be shown that the speed can be controlled by the duty ratio of the converter switch and the several characteristics of a conventional system can be also improved. In particular, the low power factor and the harmonic components in the line current, which are the main disadvantages of the conventional system, is significantly improved, and linear speed regulation can be obtained. Theoretical and experimental results are presented and illustrated to demonstrate the satisfactory working of the proposed system.

An input-output buffering switch operates in either of tow different cell loss modes; Backpressure mode and Queueloss mode. In the previous studies, the Backpressrue mode is more effective at low traffic loads, and the Queueloss mode performs better at high traffic. We propose a new operation mode, called Hybrid mode, which adopts the advantages of he Backpressure and the Queueloss mode. Backpressure and Queueloss modes are distinguished from whether a cell loss occurs at the output buffer or not when output buffer overflows, irrespective of input buffer status. In order to simply combine Backpressure and Queueloss mode, the change of input traffic load must be measured. However, in the Hybrid mode, simply both of the input and output buffer overflow and checked out to determine the cell discard. The performance of the Hybrid mode is compared with those of the Backpressure and the Queueloss mode under random and bursty traffic. This paper show that the Hybrid mode always gives the best performance results for most ranges of load values.

This paper describes for reducing harmonic distortion on CO2 welding machine with nonlinear load characteristic using single-switch three-phase AC/DC converter. The low-order harmonic component amplitude of the phase current of single-switch three-phase discontinuous mode is calculated. Experimental results show that CO2 welding machine with single-switch three-phase AC/DC converter is effectively controlled with power factor correction for phase current during welding time.
