Full-duplex (FD) technologies enable wireless nodes to simultaneously transmit and receive signal using the same frequency-band. The FD modes could improve their physical layer throughputs. However, in the wireless ad hoc networks, the FD communications also produce new interference risks. On the one hand, the interference ranges (IRs) of the nodes are enlarged when they work in the FD mode. On the other hand, for each FD pair, the FD communication may cause the potential hidden terminal problems to appear around the both sides. In this paper, to avoid the interference risks, we first model the IR of each node when it works in the FD mode, and then analyze the conditions to be satisfied among the transmission ranges (TRs), carrier-sensing ranges (CSRs), and IRs of the FD pair. Furthermore, in the media access control (MAC) layer, we propose a specific method and protocol for collision avoidance. Based on the modified Omnet++ simulator, we conduct the simulations to validate and evaluate the proposed FD MAC protocol, showing that it can reduce the collisions effectively. When the hidden terminal problem is serious, compared with the existing typical FD MAC protocol, our protocol can increase the system throughput by 80%~90%.
Common mode (CM) conducted interference are predicted and compared with experiments in a motor drive system of Electric vehicles in this study. The prediction model considers each part as an equivalent circuit model which is represented by lumped parameters and proposes the parameter extraction method. For the modeling of the inverter, a concentrated and equivalent method is used to process synthetically the CM interference source and the stray capacitance. For the parameter extraction in the power line model, a computation method that combines analytical method and finite element method is used. The modeling of the motor is based on measured date of the impedance and vector fitting technique. It is shown that the parasitic currents and interference voltage in the system can be simulated in the different parts of the prediction model in the conducted frequency range (150 kHz-30 MHz). Experiments have successfully confirmed that the approach is effective.

The interference phenomenonof a dynamic crack propagation in a inclined DEN(double edge notched) specimen has been investigated by using the dynamic photoelasticity. One crack initiated by static loading is propagated dynamically and experiences a mixed mode condition(interference) as the crack approaches to the inclined edge notch. We use the overdeterministic least-square method to extract dynamic $K_{Id}$ K sub IId/and .sigma. $_{ox}$from the recorded dynamic photoelastic pattern surounding a running crack. The evaluated $K_{Id}$$K_{IId}$and .sigma. $_{ox}$together with the crack propagation velocity estimate the dynamic crack interference phenomenonenonon

The femtocell network, which is designed for low power transmission and consists of consumer installed small base stations, coexists with macrocells to exploit spatial reuse gain. For its realization, cross-tier interference mitigation is an important issue. To solve this problem, we propose a joint access and power control scheme that requires limited information exchange between the femto and macro networks. Our objective is to maximize the network throughput while satisfying each user's quality of service (QoS) requirement. To accomplish this, we first introduce two distributed interference detection schemes, i.e., the femto base station and macro user equipment based schemes. Then, the proposed scheme dynamically adjusts the transmission power and makes a decision on the access mode of each femto base station. Through extensive simulations, we show that the proposed scheme outperforms earlier works in terms of the throughput and outage probability.
We propose a vector analysis for designing multimode-interference power splitters, which can show an arbitrary splitting ratio. Power splitting is a fundamental characteristic in integrated optical circuits and its value would be multiplied for many applications if the splitting ratio could be selected freely. Since the vector analysis utilizes a graphical method based on the previously-reported mathematical results of multimode interference, it shows an excellent advantage especially for designing power splitters with an arbitrary splitting ratio.

After the successful extension of the rotating planar waveguide model to Wave Optics, where a clear identification between the angular velocity of one hypothetical waveguide and the phase differences between two points on the path of one bounded mode was found, an application of the model to explain the interference theory is presented. We demonstrate that, for two bounded modes to create an interference pattern, a constrain to the relative parameters among both is imposed by the fiber optics. This result, not reported in the literature up to date, provides a new horizon to understand the interaction light-light when propagated within optical fibers.
A novel energy harvesting technique that uses conducted electromagnetic interference as an energy source is presented. Conducted EMI generated from fluorescent light using a switched-mode power supply was measured and modeled as an equivalent voltage source. Two types of rectifier circuits-a bridge rectifier and a voltage doubler-were used as the harvesting devices for conducted EMI source. The matching networks were designed based on the equivalent model, and the harvested power was improved. The implemented energy harvester produces a regulated power over 68.9 mW and current over 15.1 mA while a regulated voltage can be selected between 3.3 V and 5 V. The proposed system shows the highest harvesting power indoor environment and can provide enough power for the Internet of Things devices.

A 1 4 polymeric optical power divider based on the multimode interference effect is designed and fabricated. The two dimensional finite difference beam propagation method has been utilized in designing the device. Polymers used for the core layer and the cladding layer are Cyclotene-3022 and UV-15, respectively. The device is fabricated by the reactive ion etching method. The splitting ratio of the fabricated device is 0.93 : 1.00 : 0.93 : 0.90 for TE mode and 0.84 : 0.94 : 1.00 : 0.83 for TM mode. The advantages of this device are small size and low polarization-dependence.
Simple principles of self-imaging in Multi-Mode Interference (MMI) devices are based on the approximation of propagation constants. The analysis of the basic nature of the self-imaging principle reveals the problems of previous optimization methods, and provides a new scheme to optimize the external variables for the reconciliation of approximation problems by considering two different tendencies of approximation effects. Furthermore, the representative mode method is proposed to make the application easy. This optimization method provides an essential method for stable design and fabrication of MMI devices with improved characteristics.
Switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) have become a major source of conducted electromagnetic interference (EMI) which is the combination between differential mode (DM) noise and common mode (CM) noise. This paper presents the conducted EMI reduction approach in flyback switched mode power supply by rerouting for circuit balance to reduce common mode noise. And differential mode noise can be reduce by adding $c_x$ capacitor across the input power line, and passive element to the gate drive of switching device MOSFET to slow down the switching times. This combination of our approach is the effective way to reduce the conducted EMI and it is also a cost effective for product design
