  • The implementation of cellular phone based applications has been growing very fast because of WIPI which is one of hardware independent platforms. In this paper, we design and implement a system to combine the animation avatar and e-mail service by using WIPI platform, so that the user can symbolize himself/herself by his/her avatar in using the email. Also, as the general email applications have functions to integrate the email and the scheduling, this system has the integrated email & scheduling functionality. At the same time, This system uses SMS service in order to notify scheduled time and it synchronizes the schedule data with Microsoft Outlook on the computer. So, this system extends the existing email applications by supporting the mobility.

  • The advanced information and communication technology gives vehicles another role of the third digital space, merging a physical space with a virtual space in a ubiquitous society. In the ubiquitous environment, the vehicle becomes a sensor node, which has a computing and communication capability in the digital space of wired and wireless network. An intelligent vehicle information system with a remote control and diagnosis is one of the future vehicle systems that we can expect in the ubiquitous environment. However, for the intelligent vehicle system, many issues such as vehicle mobility, in-vehicle communication, service platform and network convergence should be resolved. In this paper, an in-vehicle gateway is presented for an intelligent vehicle information system to make an access to heterogeneous networks. It gives an access to the server systems on the internet via CDMA-based hierarchical module architecture. Some experiments was made to find out how long it takes to communicate between a vehicle's intelligent information system and an external server in the various environment. The results show that the average response time amounts to 776ms at fixec place, 707ms at rural area and 910ms at urban area.

  • A holonomic drive can provide rotational and translational acceleration simultaneously in any direction. For this reason the holonomic drive technology is very desirable in creating motion for any mobile platform and has many promising mobility applications in the field of robotics and automation where manipulability is critical issue especially when the mobile system is operated in obstacle prone environment. In this paper a pragmatic methodology for realizing a holonomic drive system using multiple servo-casters is presented. The steering and driving of each servo-caster is controlled such that they are coordinated with the motions of other servo-casters in order to realize holonomic motion. This paper also proposes algorithms for varying manipulability as operation situation demands.

  • This research aims an optimal placement of Mobile Base Station (MBS) under HAP based network configurations with the restrictions of HAP capabilities. With clustering algorithm based on BIRCH, mobile ground nodes are clustered and the centroid of the clusters will be the location of MBS. The hierarchical structure of BIRCH enables mobile node management by CF tree and the restrictions of maximum nodes per MBS and maximum radio coverage are accomplished by splitting and merging clusters. Mobility models based on Jeju island are used for simulations and such restrictions are met with proper placement of MBS.

  • Due to the improvement of science technology, the future tank system will have the multi-function for more powerful firing. and the tank, mounted this multi-function, must be lighter to maintain the mobility. Therefore, new brecoil technology would be necessary to reduce the recoil force for lighter platform. The present study covers a FOOB(Fire-Out0-Of-Battery) system that can reduce the recoil force dramatically. The firing sequence of the FOOB system is radically different from that of a conventional system. The gun is latched in out-of-battery position prior to firing. As soon as firing is occurred, the gun is unlatched and accelerated. The forward momentum is imparted to the recoiling parts. This momentum is opposed by the ballistic force imparted by firing and the recoil force and recoil length will be reduced. In this study, the ADAMS simulation has been performed with the scale model of the FIB(Fire-In-Battery) system and the FOOB system. The ADAMS simulation results show that the FOOB system could reduce the operating time and recoil length and the recoil force.

  • In this paper, we present criteria of objective measurement of speech quality to provide the mobile-VoIP services efficiently over wireless mobile internet. The mobile-VoIP service, which is based on mobility and is error-prone compared to conventional VoIP over wired network, is about to be launched, but there have not been adequate quality indexes and the Quality of Service (QoS) standards for evaluating speech quality of Mobile-VoIP. In addition, there are many factors influencing on the speech quality in packet network of which packet loss contribute directly to the overall voice communication quality. For this reason, we adopt the Gilbert-Elliot Channel Model for modeling packet network based on IP and assess the voice quality through the objective speech method of ITU-T P. 862 PESQ and ITU-T P. 862.1 MOS-LQO under various packet loss rates in the transmission channel environments. Our simulation results address the specific criteria and QoS for the mobile-VoIP services in terms of the various packet loss environments.

  • There have been many researches about SUGV (Small Unmanned Ground Vehicle) mechanism regarding off-road mobility and obstacle negotiation. This paper introduces an analysis of geometry parameters to enhance the vertical obstacle negotiation ability for the SUGV. Moreover, this paper proposes an anti-shock structure analysis of wheels to protect the main body of the SUGV when it falls off a vertical obstacle. Major system geometry parameters will be determined under certain constraints. The constraints and optimization problem for maximizing the ability of vertical obstacle negotiation will be presented and discussed. Dynamic simulation results and experiments with manufactured platform will also be presented to validate the analysis. Several types of wheel materials and structures will be compared to determine the best anti-shock wheel design through FEM (Finite Element Method) simulations.

  • The existing PC-based desktop environment is being changed to a server-based virtual desktop environment due to various advantages such as security, mobility, and upgrade cost reduction. In this paper, a virtual computing lab service system which is applicable to the existing computer lab is designed and implemented using both an open source-based cloud computing platform and hypervisor. In addition, a node power scheduler is proposed in order to reduce power consumption in a server farm. The experimental results show that the power scheduler reduces power consumption considerably over the server farm without the power scheduler.

  • In this paper, we have designed the integrated wire and wireless P2P framework using mobile agents to share efficiently resources as media file. Most of the P2P applications are used on the wire network. We propose the integrated wire and wireless P2P framework. Proposed P2P platform is based on JXTA of Sun Microsystems. But JXTA is pure peer-to-peer network model, so it sends message other peers as broadcast style to request resources. In this way, there are some problems as massage overload, bandwidth loss, etc. In order to solve this problem, we propose a hybrid peer-to-peer network model using mobile agent. Proposed scheme also solve existing hybrid pEp model's flaws which have the delay and low rate due to concentrated server. In proposed scheme, mobile agents that have autonomy and mobility are used to search the location of resources. Besides, mobile agents could solve the loss problem of the search result. To improve P2P QoS(Quality of Service), we could monitor peer's state information using PIP(Peer Information Protocol) of JXTA.
