  • In order to supply emotion service depending on user's emotional change in a mobile environment, various researches have been carried. This paper discusses a protocol for wireless charging and an embedded platform of the mobile emotional sensing device which supports that. Wireless charging process relieves user's vexatious task to charge the emotional sensing device. To support wireless charging, there are one basestation and several mobile devices. Basestation coordinates and controls the devices over wireless communication, as well as supplies energy. For 1:N communication we defines the network whose superframe is classified into four categories: a network join superframe, a charging request superframe, a charging superframe and an inactive superframe. Physical layer provides how to supply energy to the devices and communicate physically. Mobile device is equipped with energy charged circuits, which correspond with the defined energy supplying method, as well as bidirectional communication circuits. Mobile device monitors and analyzes its own battery status, and is able to send a request packet to basestation. Therefore, it can be charged before its battery is exhausted without user's perception.

  • We consider a mobile content delivery network (mCDN) in which special mobile devices designated as caching servers (caching-server device: CSD) can provide mobile stations with popular contents on demand via device-to-device (D2D) communication links. On the assumption that mobile CSD's are randomly distributed by a Poisson point process (PPP), an optimization problem is formulated to determine the probability of storing the individual content in each server in a manner that minimizes the average caching failure rate. Further, we present a low-complexity search algorithm, optimum dual-solution searching algorithm (ODSA), for solving this optimization problem. We demonstrate that the proposed ODSA takes fewer iterations, on the order of O(log N) searches, for caching N contents in the system to find the optimal solution, as compared to the number of iterations in the conventional subgradient method, with an acceptable accuracy in practice. Furthermore, we identify the important characteristics of the optimal caching policies in the mobile environment that would serve as a useful aid in designing the mCDN.

  • Objective: This study aims towards exploring a model of the HCI evaluation methods to improve the usability of mobile device, based on a case of a Mobile PDA system in a Museum context. Background: Mobile PDA systems in a Museum context is widely utilized for the educational purposes, but it is criticized for low usability that the device only play a role in textbooks on legs without any interactive educational activities. Therefore, the usability improvements on the mobile PDA system should be considered. Method 1: This model was developed with a combination of the expert review and the user testing, and with a combination of the qualitative and quantitative studies. In more details, first of all, a qualitative study was conducted as a combination of three different methods: 1) expert review with heuristics, 2) interviews with persons working in a museum, and 3) contextual enquiry. Results 1: The experts review provided with critical usability issues, and the semi-constructive interview helped to understand the background of the mobile device. Lastly, the contextual enquiry showed user experience problems and directions of improving the device from user's perspective. Method 2: Based on the results of the qualitative study, a questionnaire was designed. Results 2: The analysis of the quantitative study was conducted to generalize the problems, and prioritize the direction of improving the device within the limitation of the cost and time in a museum. Conclusion: This study has implications in developing an example of a HCI evaluation model to improve the user experience of the mobile device as well as finding problems and directions of how to improve the mobile PDA systems in the museum. Application: In fact, most of the studies related to the evaluation of the mobile device have been conducted in a laboratory context due to the cost and time. This paper, however, attempted to apply to various HCI research techniques from different constituents in real context.

  • Mobile network infrastructure is being completed with the development of hardware and software for mobile devices. Network in mobile devices has evolved for telematics that is expanded much more than its existing concept. Telematics is compound word that is formed from the words "telecommunication" and "informatics". It means that telematics performs control and monitoring service with using mobile device resources. These services provide their services for users' requests through wired or wireless network from mobile devices and server that offers contents and network service collects management information of mobile devices. Map service is one of the preferred services for many telematics users. However, mobile map service has a limit between traffic and information sharing. Therefore it is very important to supply their information for both service provider and terminal user. In this paper, we design a new interactive sketch map using routes and information on the space to be applied effectively, and provide an extended document format that is defined to an extensible and dynamic clustering scheme to have portability map service for mobile device.

  • Mobile device will be able to use the various contents from the advancement of the wireless Internet and mobile device manufacture technique. Each devices is HTTP headers about under using provides device information to contents provider in the provide the contents. However, There is no standard for device information provided, so interoperability problems, because external contents using mobile phone companies to provide the device information in a different way. International Organization for Standard OMA UAProf about under using it solved interoperability problems from outside. However, in using the UAProf can not provide for the complete device information, because MMS support information, smart card support, information and support for external storage is not specified. Thus, In this paper, we designed UAProf in base which provides the contents which has become optimize to the mobile device of domestic environment the mobile device description language which expresses device information which is necessar, and it used to design and implementation of the Contents Adaptation System.

  • The need for end-to-end security has been increased with the widespread use of mobile devices in wireless internet access applications such as mobile commerce. The WAP1.x has an end-to-end security problem that the message transmitted between the mobile device and the Web server is decrypted inside the gateway within a short time. To overcome this problem, several protocols including WAP2.0 has been proposed. These protocols require that the heavy modules such as TLS or data compression modules should be installed on the mobile device with limited resources. This paper proposes a new WTLSW(WTLS-TLS at Web server) protocol and a new WAP2.0 proxy model in order to ensure end-to-end security between the mobile device and the Web server and to be appropriate for mobile devices with limited resources.

  • Recently, the demand for various contents and mobile web service has been rising due to the improvement of the techniques of wireless networks. In mobile web service, it is essential to exchange the device informations and contents using specific information which are standardized for users, operators and contents providers. This is based on the existing service providers based on the existing terminal, which provides information to help plan and operate independently of the mobile Web services and content services for various users needs. In this paper, the interoperable DDL is proposed for providing contents to fit with each different mobile device, which contributes toward the optimized mobile web service and guarantee the interoperability of device information. and we implemented the device information processing system, which has the purpose of servicing the device information and verifying the result to the interoperability of mobile web service on proposed DDL and the description language of the device information.

  • In this paper, we propose a discovery protocol for finding nearby mobile applications and services in a device-to-device communications system. The device-to-device communication technology enables proximity-based services such as mobile social networks and mobile marketing. For realizing these proximity-based services, it is essential to design a discovery protocol which pinpoints the devices with mobile applications of interest among hundreds and thousands of devices in proximity. In the infrastructure-less networks such as ad hoc networks, we can design the discovery protocol that periodically broadcasts a short discovery code containing the compressed information of the mobile applications. In this paper, we design the discovery protocol with the discovery code generated by using a hash function and a Bloom filter. We also mathematically analyze the performance of the proposed protocol.

  • This paper explores the impact of mobile device usage frequency in the classroom on students' perceptions of their use. To assess this, we created a survey that measured students' perceived frequency, usefulness, and convenience of using mobile devices, using a reversed Technology Acceptance Model. Through the analysis of responses from 781 Korean students, utilizing confirmatory item factor analyses and a structural equation mixture model, we found that the effect of frequent mobile device use on students' positive perceptions is non-linear. As the frequency reaches to a certain level, the effect sizes of the frequency in the positive perceptions diminishes. Additionally, students who used mobile devices less frequently in class reported higher levels of difficulties in using the devices. This study introduces a tool for evaluating multiple aspects of students' perceptions regarding mobile device use and offers a framework for understanding the relationship between usage frequency, usefulness, and convenience.
