  • RFID system can be used to improve object recognition, map building and localization for robot area. A novel method of indoor navigation system for a mobile robot is proposed using RFID technology. The mobile robot With a RFID reader and antenna is able to find what obstacles are located where in circumstance and can build the map similar to indoor circumstance by combining RFID information and distance data obtained from sensors. Using the map obtained, the mobile robot can avoid obstacles and finally reach the desired goal by $A^*$ algorithm. 3D map which has the advantage of robot navigation and manipulation is able to be built using z dimension of products. The proposed robot navigation system is proved to apply for SLAM and path planning in unknown circumstance through numerous experiments.

  • In this Paper, it has a proposal of the RFID(RFID : Radio Frequency Identification) system for high-speed recognition between the tag attached a mobile object moving high-speed and the static reader. It used 13.56MHz frequency at ISM band, and designed a reader in order to recognize a mobile object moving high-speed. It will be expected that RFID system enables a smooth railway signal control applying in railway system through the cyclic loop antenna.

  • In this paper, the wide-band monopole antenna with a parasitic element on the ground plane for application in Cellular, GSM and RFID mobile terminals such as the mobile phone or Personal Digital Assistant(PDA) phone is presented. The VSWR of the designed antenna is 2:1 over the frequency range of 820 MHz to 1040 MHz(bandwidth of 23.6 %). Therefore, the designed antenna can provide wide bandwidth covering the Cellular(824 MHz~894 MHz), RFID(908.5 MHz~914 MHz) and GSM(Tx:880 MHz~915 MHz, Rx:925 MHz~960 MHz). The radiation characteristics of the fabricated antenna were also studied. According to the measured radiation patterns, the maximum gains at 859 MHz and 911.25 MHz(center frequencies of the Cellualr and RFID bands) are -0.7 dBi and 0.16 dBi, respectively. The measured maximum gains of GSM bands are -0.48 dBi(897.5 MHz, the center frequency of Tx) and 1.69 dBi(942.5 MHz, the center frequency of Rx).

  • In this paper, a navigation algorithm is proposed using RFID tags in indoor environments. Firstly, a stochastic sensor model of RFID is derived and the design factors including the maximum identifiable distance, the identification direction and the read success rate are obtained through experiments. The obstacle avoidance algorithm is developed with consideration of those factors for a variety of RFID antenna configurations and different indoor environments. The algorithm is tested by computer simulations and implemented on a mobile robot.

  • Wideband terminal and base station is required to serve not only existing 1st and 2nd generation mobile communication systems but also 3rd generation systems. In this paper, we present a feasibility study on coaxial feed compact wideband antenna for UHF RFID reader application. The original antenna was designed for partial discharge detection sensor in high voltage diagnostic system. However, we modified the original prototype to achieve shifted down resonant frequency for wideband wireless communication applications. The experimental result shows good return loss characteristics and radiation patterns except for the total gain at each resonant frequency. The maximum measured gain was 2.45 dBi$\sim$3.18 dBi at 910MHz.

  • In this paper, active integrated antenna with left hand circular polarization(LHCP) for a transmitter of UHF RFID reader has been described. A novel rectangular ring patch as a radiator of the active antenna is proposed for easier impedance matching, smaller patch size, and LHCP characteristics. An amplification circuit is placed in the opening area of the radiator and is combined with it to work as oscillating circuit around 915 MHz. From the test results, impedance bandwidth of 29 MHz, 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth of 20 MHz, 3 dB beamwidth of 85 degree, and effective radiation power of 8.8 dBm have been obtained.

  • This paper proposes an efficient localization algorithm in the RFID sensor space for the precise localization of a mobile robot. The RFID sensor space consists of embedded sensors and a mobile robot. The embedded sensors, that is tags are holding the absolute position data and provide them to the robot which carries a reader and requests the absolute position fur localization. The reader, it is called as antenna usually, gets several tag data at the same time within its readable range. It takes time to read all the tags and to process the data to estimate the position, which is a major factor to deteriorate the localization accuracy. In this paper, an efficient algorithm to estimate the position and orientation of the mobile robot as quickly as possible has been proposed. Along with the algorithm, a new allocation of the tags in the RFID sensor space is also proposed to improve the localization accuracy. The proposed algorithms are demonstrated and verified through the real experiments.

  • There are many researches on human effect by electromagnetic equipments and applications. However, most of research and guidelines for limiting human exposure to electromagnetic fields are established by mobile communication of SAR(Specific Absorption Ratio). Therefore we need to study different effects on human body when exposed to high frequency(HF) band equipments, such as human induced current etc. In this paper, we measured human induced current by RFID reader antenna of HF band in the near field and we propose human equivalent antenna which has orthogonal loops to each other. Then, we compared the induced currents on proposed equivalent antenna with human.

  • In this letter, a small-loop antenna for a mobile UHF RFID device is proposed. To achieve size reduction, a ferrite sheet optimized for a 900 MHz band is applied. The overall dimensions of the antenna are $46mm{\times}35mm{\times}0.24mm$, and it has a bandwidth of 45 MHz with a return loss of less than -6 dB. The proposed antenna satisfies near and far field UHF EPC global frequency band communications (902-928 MHz).
