The Brain Temperature Change after the Use of Mobile Phone (휴대전화 사용 후 뇌 온도의 변화)

  • Background: Mobile phone has become a very popular device used in everyday our lives. However, the possible hazard to human body such as brain tumor has been proposed intermittently. This unwanted possibility was calmed down due to the absence of definite evidence of hazard. This study was performed to see the effect of mobile phone use on the brain temperature. Methods: In 20 volunteers, we performed 4 steps of temperature measuring procedure. Four steps are pre-use (S1, basal state), wire-phone (S2, conventional telephone), PCS phone (S3, using 1,750~1,900 MHz), cellular phone (S4, using 820 MHz) states. Brain temperatures were measured by radiothermometer at 10 sites (5 sites in each hemisphere) of the brain after 5minutes of telecommunication through the phones. The final data were compared using paired t-test. Results: In PCS phone user group (Average; $35.73708^{\circ}C$), brain temperature decreased (with statistical significance, p<0.05), compared to those of non-user group (Average; $35.9527^{\circ}C$) or conventional wire phone user group. In cellular phone user group (Average; $35.82155^{\circ}C$), brain temperature decreased slightly (without statistical significance, p>0.05) compared to those of non-user group (Average; $35.9527^{\circ}C$) or conventional wire phone user group (Average; $35.922^{\circ}C$). The temperature change was not limited to the mobile phone applied side but on both hemisphere of the brain. Conclusion: In conclusion, mobile phone (especially PCS phone) decreased brain temperature in both hemispheres without side-to-side temperature difference. In addition, this study suggests possibility of radiothermometer application to the study of electromagnetic wave effect and protection method research in the future.

Relationships between Self-Control and Addictive Mobile Phone Use by Nursing Students (간호대학생의 자기통제력과 휴대폰 중독적 사용의 관계)

  • This study examined the relationships between self-control and addictive mobile phone use among nursing students. The data was collected through structured questionnaires from 293 students and analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test and Pearson's correlation coefficients on SPSS WIN v 18.0 and AMOS v 18.0. The mean scores of self-control and addictive mobile phone use were $3.42{\pm}0.45$ and $2.69{\pm}0.45$, respectively. A statistically significant negative correlation was observed between self-control and addictive mobile phone use (t=-.447, p<.01). In addition, self-control explained 28% of the addictive mobile phone use. Intervention programs to improve self-control should be developed to prevent addictive mobile phone use for nursing students.

  • Mobile phone becomes composite product which the high technological multimedia functions of a Digital camera, MP3, MP4, Blue-tooth, DMB over basic functions of a calling and 3M3. By the view of user, many functions give a heavy burden rather than supporting convenient function itself because it is complex for user to use it. We want to evaluate how users feel using mobile phone according to age, comparing use frequency and necessity. So survey is tried to figure out the difference between use frequency and necessity by dividing three groups into 20s and 30s and 50s. As a result, difference of use frequency and necessity for functions of mobile phone between 20s and 30s and 50s. And the other users have the difference. Consequently, mobile phone development according to age is necessary to satisfy user's desire, evaluating elements research of user preference. We hope this paper can contribute to mobile phone development as a basic guidance.

The sound level of Mobile phone ring tone could be considered as noise if it is too loud a specific situation. Manufacturing company improve ring tone of mobile phone better in consumer's perception. In this study, we record ring tone of mobile phone and estimated the complexity and nonlinear characteristics of the relation between subjective evaluation and sound metrics. Linear regression models were obtained for the subjective evaluation and sound quality metrics. Semantic Differential Method is used to study sound quality Evaluation.   • As mobile phone has acquired a status of a fashion item expressing one's character, it is necessary to understand the fashion needs for this new fashion product. The purpose of this study was to apply the fashion orientation construct developed in the clothing research field to mobile phone and explore its validity. The multi-dimensional construct of fashion orientation which most widely represented the fashion aspects was examined for the two product categories of clothing and mobile phone. Data were collected from an online questionnaire survey, and a total of 1,136 responses were analyzed. The construct structure of fashion orientation of mobile phone resulted in individuality, innovation, and fashion was different from that of clothing extracted to interest/importance, fashion/innovation, and individuality. Fashion sensitivity and an early adoption of a new product were two different dimensions in mobile phone while not separable in clothing. Despite a higher predictability of the fashion/innovation orientation of clothing on fashion orientation rather than on innovation orientation of mobile phone, innovation orientation was more important to purchase behaviors of mobile phone. The study still implies that it is valid to use clothing fashion innovative consumers for mobile phone marketing.

Classifying Latent Profiles in Mobile Phone Usage of Elementary School Students and Verifying the Relationship with Mobile Phone Dependency (잠재프로파일분석을 통한 초등학생의 휴대전화 이용유형분류와 의존도의 관계 검증)

  • The purpose of this study was to classify the elementary school students to latent groups according to the type of mobile phone usage and to verify the relationship with mobile phone dependency. The latent profile analysis was conducted using the first grade panel data of the elementary school in the Korea Children 's Youth Panel in 2016. The results found 3 latent classes of mobile phone usage: family and friend concentration (Type1), family concentration low level (Type2) and essential (Type3). The results of multiple regression analysis for verifying the relationship between mobile phone use type and mobile phone dependency showed a significant effect. The Type 2 showed more dependency than the Type 1, and the Type 1 showed more dependency than the Type 3. These findings provided basis for the guideline of mobile phones use and for proper intervention to prevent mobile phone dependency for elementary school students.

Effects of Mobile Phone Use on Aviation Students' English Learning (모바일폰 사용이 항공대학 학생들의 영어 학습에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study aims to investigate the effects of mobile phone use on aviation students' English language learning. Considering that affective factors have impacts on English language learning, this study focuses on confidence, motivation, and anxiety in English learning. For the current study, 46 college students were recruited. The participants were divided into one experimental group (n = 24) and one control group (n = 22) at random. During 16 weeks, the experimental group joined in chat via mobile phone while the control group did not. To understand the participants' experience of mobile phone use and to compare the attitudes towards English language learning, a survey was performed. Major findings are as follows: The experimental group showed more positive attitudes towards English learning than the control group did. Specifically, the participants who engaged in chat via mobile phone became more confident and motivated to learn English but less anxious about English learning. These results provide insights into the engagement in chat via mobile phone for aviation students' English learning. This study also suggests ways how CTL at universities can support their students' English language learning using mobile phones.

  • In Korea, the car mobile phone service had started in 1961 and with this Korea Mobile Telecommunications Services was established in 1984. Its service was mainly focused on the mobile phone service for the car which led the popularity of the full-scale mobile phone service. There are many kinds of materials, colors and patterns which are the elements of surface coating techniques. In light of that, we are focused on the UV coating that is ranked as an important part of the techniques in this study. In the first, the use of various materials for the cellular phone and surface processing techniques for the cellular phone were searched. On the basis of the results, the experiments of actual consumer experience with the exfoliation of the surface were done and through that we proposed the best way of processing the surface for the cellular phone and the materials. The result of the Wear Test showed that thick coating was detached more slowly and each company differed in their results with UV paints despite the same thickness of UV coating. The seal (UV) exfoliation of cellular phone is deeply related with the film thickness and the film formation when the users use the cellular phones and the exfoliation of the cellular phone surface will be decreased if the manufacturers meet the best conditions for the cellular phone.

  • Nowadays, due to the popularization of mobile phone, the functions and using manners of mobile phone have been varied. According to Korea National Statistical Office, the numbers of domestic mobile phone user were 30 million at the end of March 2002. A survey was conducted to investigate the various using manners of mobile phone, especially the young ones from 15 to 28 years old. Two hundred and sixty people participated in this study. According to the result of this study, text messaging was one of the major functions of the mobile phone for the young people. Also, continuous and repetitive use of small key pad of mobile phone for text messaging could cause the repetitive strain injury on hand, especially fingers.

  • The objective of the study is to develop selfie sticks to enhance portability and prevent error of pushing mobile phone button. The main target of selfie sticks is women and the size of selfie sticks is too big to put it in their bag. Also when people put mobile phone in a selfie stick, people push its button easily. Sometimes mobile phone is turned off or the volume is controlled because of pushing its button. The researcher focused on designing a solution that enhances portability and preventing error of pushing the button. The researcher understood structure of selfie stick. It consists of a mobile phone supporter and a length adjuster. The researcher designed the mobile phone supporter for enhancing portability and the length adjuster for preventing to push the mobile phone. The researcher designed a part which connects a mobile phone supporter with a length adjuster and made selfie stick fold. Also, sponges are partly put on the mobile supporter. It can reduce situation of pushing the mobile phone button. The selfie stick design from the study has an opportunity to distinguish using the product and carrying it and have people use the selfie stick conveniently.
