  • Diversity-multiplexing tradeoff (DMT) is an efficient tool to measure the performance of multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) systems and cooperative systems. Recently, cooperative multicast system with wireless network coding stretched tremendous interesting due to that it can drastically enhance the throughput of the wireless networks. It is desirable to apply DMT to the performance analysis on the multicast system with wireless network coding. In this paper, DMT is performed at the three proposed wireless network coding protocols, i.e., non-regenerative network coding (NRNC), regenerative complex field network coding (RCNC) and regenerative Galois field network coding (RGNC). The DMT analysis shows that under the same system performance, i.e., the same diversity gain, all the three network coding protocols outperform the traditional transmission scheme without network coding in terms of multiplexing gain. Our DMT analysis also exhibits the trends of the three network coding protocols' performance when multiplexing gain is changing from the lower region to the higher region. Monte-Carlo simulations verify the prediction of DMT.

  • Recently, demand of multimedia data have been increasing in mobile and wireless communication environment. Also overlay multicast has an advantage supports multicast without changing the existing network structures for transmitting reliable data. In this paper, we propose new overlay techniques guaranting Qos and transmission speed through overlay multicast.

  • The mobile agent has very various performance according to the element of communication number of times between hosts, quantity of transmission data agent's size, network state etc. specially, migration method is caused much effect in whole performance of distributed system. Most existing migration methods have simplicity structure that it moves doing to accumulate continuously result after achieving task by visiting host in the fixed order. Therefore, in case there are situation such as fault, obstacle, and service absence etc. This can be inefficient due to mobile agent increased network required time. In this paper, we design and implementation Multicast Migration Model for minimizing network required time by solving this problems. Multicast Migration Model includes components such as mobile agent including call module and naming agent, which provides object replication information and distributed server's location transparence. And we evaluate and compare with existing migration method applying prototype system to verify implemented migration model.

  • In this paper, we propose a location based multicast routing protocol, called Geomulticast, in mobile ad-hoc wireless networks. The main features and contributions of the proposed geomulticast are as follows. First, support data transmission to only the specific mobile nodes within a target area. Second, establish stable routing route by using mobility information of nodes. Third, reduce control overhead, power for construction of routing route by using geomulticast guided line information. Fourth, present a theoretical model for establishing stable route. The performance evaluation of the proposed geomulticast is executed by using OPNET simulation and theoretical analysis, and the results of simulation and theoretical analysis have similar patterns. And we can see that data packets are efficiently transmitted to specific user groups within a specific area.

  • Mobile IP (MIP) is the solution supporting the mobility of Mobile Nodes (MNs), however, it is known to lack the support for NEtwork MObility (NEMO). NEMO manages situations when an entire network, composed of one or more subnets, dynamically changes its point of attachment to the Internet. NEMO Basic Support (NBS) protocol ensures session continuity for all the nodes in a mobile network, however, there exists a serious pinball routing problem. To overcome this weakness, there are many Route Optimization (RO) solutions such as Bi-directional Tunneling (BT) mechanism, Aggregation and Surrogate (A&S) mechanism, Recursive Approach, etc. The A&S RO mechanism is known to outperform the other RO mechanisms, except for the Binding Update (BU) cost. Although Improved Prefix Delegation (IPD) reduces the cost problem of Prefix Delegation (PD), a well-known A&S protocol, the BU cost problem still presents, especially when a large number of Mobile Routers (MRs) and MNs exist in the environment such as train, bus, ship, or aircraft. In this paper, a solution to reduce the cost of delivering the BU messages is proposed using a multicast mechanism instead of unicasting such as the traditional BU of the RO. The performance of the proposed multicast-based BU scheme is examined with an analytical model which shows that the BU cost enhancement is up to 32.9% over IPDbased, hence, it is feasible to predict that the proposed scheme could benefit in other NEMO RO protocols.

  • A mobile ad-hoc network routing protocols for transmission of multimedia contents need to have low delay time and to maintain the established route because it should secure quality of service(QoS) of the network. In this paper, the proposed protocol, termed HODMRP (History-based On-Demand Multicast Routing Protocol), is enhanced On-Demand Multicast Routing Protocol (ODMRP) by adding the criterion which is the session history for establishing route. The characteristic of this protocol is that data can be transmitted using the redundant route which is already selected by session history, if it occurs that the route is broken, HODMRP have better Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) value and lower delay time than ODMRP by the simulation results.

  • Multicast communication of mobile ad hoc networks is vulnerable to internal attacks due to its routing structure and high scalability of its participants. Though existing intrusion detection systems (IDSs) act smartly to defend against attack strategies, adversaries also accordingly update their attacking plans intelligently so as to intervene in successful defending schemes. In our work, we present a novel indirect internal stealthy attack on a tree-based multicast routing protocol. Such an indirect stealthy attack intelligently makes neighbor nodes drop their routing-layer unicast control packets instead of processing or forwarding them. The adversary targets the collision avoidance mechanism of the Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol to indirectly affect the routing layer process. Simulation results show the success of this attacking strategy over the existing "stealthy attack in wireless ad hoc networks: detection and countermeasure (SADEC)" detection system. We design a cross-layer automata-based stealthy attack on multicast routing protocols (SAMRP) attacker detection system to identify and isolate the proposed attacker. NS-2 simulation and analytical results show the efficient performance, against an indirect internal stealthy attack, of SAMRP over the existing SADEC and BLM attacker detection systems.
