  • Nowadays, the major manufacturer of the mobile devices has offered its own solution for the data synchronization. But each manufacturer uses its proprietary data synchronization method so that the compatibility of data can not be guaranteed. To solve such problems, a gateway is needed to convert different forms of data into a unified form of data and vice versa. Some problems have been found in the experiments with the previously implemented gateway. First, a bottleneck state might arise if a number of mobile devices request data synchronization simultaneously. Second, the gateway itself would become a serious vulnerable point to an attack during the process of converting received data. The proposed gateway can solve this bottleneck state and security issue since it converts data and processes synchronization request in a mobile device. In this paper, the proposed gateway is constructed and the results of some experiments with the gateway are presented. According to the results, the proposed gateway operates properly and it is relatively insensitive to the bottleneck state.

  • Several gateway selection schemes have been proposed that select gateway nodes based on a single Quality of Service (QoS) path parameter, for instance path availability period, link capacity or end-to-end delay, etc. or on multiple non-QoS parameters, for instance the combination of gateway node speed, residual energy, and number of hops, for Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANETs). Each scheme just focuses on the ment of improve only a single network performance, i.e., network throughput, packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay, or packet drop ratio. However, none of these schemes improves the overall network performance because they focus on a single QoS path parameter or on set of non-QoS parameters. To improve the overall network performance, it is necessary to select a gateway with stable path, a path with themaximum residual load capacity and the minimum latency. In this paper, we propose a gateway selection scheme that considers multiple QoS path parameters such as path availability period, available capacity and latency, to select a potential gateway node. We improve the path availability computation accuracy, we introduce a feedback system to updated path dynamics to the traffic source node and we propose an efficient method to propagate QoS parameters in our scheme. Computer simulations show that our gateway selection scheme improves throughput and packet delivery ratio with less per node energy consumption. It also improves the end-to-end delay compared to single QoS path parameter gateway selection schemes. In addition, we simulate the proposed scheme by considering weighting factors to gateway selection parameters and results show that the weighting factors improve the throughput and end-to-end delay compared to the conventional schemes.

  • In distributed computing paradigm, mobile surrogate systems migrates from on host in a network to another. However, Mobile surrogate system have not gained wide acceptance because of security concerns that have not been suitably addressed yet. In this paper, we propose a security framework based on Grid Proxy Gateway for mobile Grid service. The current Grid Security Infrastructure is extended to mobile computing environments. The surrogate host system designed for mobile Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) users can access the certified host and get his proxy credential to launch remote job submission securely.

  • Data synchronization between data stored in mobile communication terminals and a central server is one of essential tasks for efficient mobile communication environments. Since, however, manufacturers of mobile terminals have their proprietary data synchronization mechanisms, data interoperability can hardly be achieved. Therefore, SyncML data synchronization mechanism in mobile communication environments was proposed as an open standard by OMA(Open Mobile Alliance). In this paper, a SyncML-based data synchronization gateway is designed and implemented which can process ActiveSync data also. In other words, by constructing a combined data synchronization gateway which can transform ActiveSync data into SyncML data, data interoperability between mobile terminals which use two different data synchronization mechanisms can be achieved, In addition, mobile communication experiments between ActiveSync-based terminals and a SyncML-based central server show that the data synchronization gateway constructed in this paper, works correctly.

  • The Proxy Mobile IPv6 is a network-based localized mobility management protocol. In the PMIPv6, Mobile Nodes are topologically anchored at a Local Mobility Anchor, which forwards all data packets for registered Mobile Nodes. Since all data packets destined for the Mobile Nodes a1ways traverse the Mobile Nodes's Local Mobility Anchor, the LMA might be bottleneck and the end-to-end de1ay are increased. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed an enhanced Route Optimization scheme in Multiple Local Mobility Anchors environment. In order to rapid1y detect Route Optimization, we designed Domain Information Table in Mobility Access Gateway. Furthermore, we use Correspondent Binding Cache in Local Mobility Anchor to maintain Route Optimization information during Mobile Nodes's handover. To solve packet loss and reodering problems during handover, we propose a new buffering and forwarding scheme.

  • A hybrid Ad-hoc network connected to the Internet needs an IP address configuration to communicate with the Internet. Most of proposed address autoconfiguration algorithms are node based. The node based address autoconfiguration algorithms waste bandwidth and consume much battery in mobile ad-hoc networks. In this paper, we propose the address allocation algorithm in hybrid Mobile ad-hoc network (MANET). The proposed algorithm reduces network traffic by transferring address configuration packet to the internet gateway by unicast method. Moreover, our IP address configuration algorithm also reduces battery consumption and address configuration time by decreasing number of configuration packets on internet gateway.

  • This paper suggests U-healthcare system for individual health management realizing the gateway, client, and Java-based network server by using the vital signal measuring system and android-based mobile platform. This study realized the vital signal measuring system based on the technology to measure the ECG, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and respiration, etc. And all the information of measurement was transmitted to the mobile gateway using the 3-bite transmission protocol consisting of headers and data. The data transmitted to the mobile gateway was used to examine the mobile client's personal health indexes through the network server. This paper realized and tested the android-based gateway, client, and the broadcasting network server and verified their validity with simulations and actual humans. As a result, the U-healthcare system suggested was proved to be effective in managing each individual's health from short distance and long distance. And it could examine each individual's health conditions in real-time and was found to be advantageous in that it could secure the guardian's mobility.
