  • The reusability problems in the existing object-oriented development method and component development method is the problem that should be also resolved in the mobile development. Changing the function in mobile applications need to upgrade the entire mobile application, which can cause problems in mobile application in conjunction with other applications within the device. Thus, the changable functions in mobile application should be developed by considering their reusability. In this paper, we propose the customization technique that can be improved reusability for a variety of requirements of mobile application. We propose the self-adaptable customization technique that can change dynamically for the function to require changes by applying the data variability among variabilities.

  • It is preferred to the popularization of smart device business processes through mobile. The ratio of Internet access via mobile devices is reached 30% of PC in September 2012. It is reproduced in a mobile environment that security threats arising from the Internet. that is the characteristics of cyber security threats appearing on the mobile era. Web Application Service security research firm OWASP (The Open Web Application Security Project) issued Session Management threat. That threat will be reproduced in the mobile environment. But Mobile is significantly different from Desktop Computer about Session Management environment. This proceeding proposes a improved Session Management method in Mobile environment.

  • In recent years, mobile devices are equipped with functionalities comparable to those computers. However, mobile devices have limited resources due to constraints, such as low processing power, limited memory, unpredictable connectivity, and limited battery life. To enhance the capacity of mobile devices, an interesting idea is to use cloud computing and virtualization techniques to shift the workload from mobile devices to a computational infrastructure. Those techniques consist of migrating resource-intensive computations from a mobile device to the resource-rich cloud, or server (called nearby infrastructure). In order to achieve their goals, researchers designed mobile cloud applications models (examples: CloneCloud, Cloudlet, and Weblet). In this paper, we want to highlight on cloudlet architecture (nearby infrastructure with mobile device), its methodology and discuss about the impact of distance between cloudlet and mobile device in our work design.

  • As mobile terminal environment gets matured, the use of Android platform based mobile terminals has been growing high. Recently, the number of attacks by malicious application is also increasing as Android platform is vulnerable to private information leakage in nature. Most of these malicious applications are easily distributed to general users through open market or internet and an attacker inserts malicious code into malicious app which could be harmful tool to steal private data and banking data such as SMS, contacts list, and public key certificate to a remote server. To cope with these security threats more actively, it is necessary to develop countermeasure system that enables to detect security vulnerability existing in mobile device and take an appropriate action to protect the system against malicious attacks. In this sense, this paper aggregates diverse system events from multiple mobile devices and also implements a system to detect attacks by malicious application.

  • Mobile application is software executing on smart devices regardless of the time and place. Many individuals and companies have provided a lot of mobile applications services. However, there is not certain standard in terms of application's quality evaluation because study is deficient compared with increase amount of development of mobile application. Moreover, mobile application basically has many special characteristics. For these reasons mobile application is required special standard of quality different from general software. To satisfy these needs, I design and propose mobile application evaluation model. Evaluation model is mapped by characteristics of mobile application based on ISO/IEC 25000's quality characteristics and propose each quality characteristics and metrics. For verification, scenario-based studies were applied to quality model and carried out.

Task Parallelism System of Application for Multicore-Based Mobile Platform (멀티코어 기반 모바일 플랫폼을 위한 애플리케이션의 태스크 병렬화 시스템)

  • This paper proposes a task parallelism system (BioMP) to improve applications' execution time of multicore based mobile device. When application developers append the functions of parallel specification into the existing software, our proposed system supports the parallel processing of threads as well as a compatibility. BioMP improves the software in order that an existing large-scale source can recognize the multicore architecture. From our experiment, our idea improved the execution time of application until about 64% against the existing system in multicore environment based on quad core. In addition, BioMP does not require any additional modification of a mobile platform because BioMP is independent component. Consequently, when application developers release multicore-aware applications into the application store, users can immediately run without any modification of the mobile device.

  • Android that was made by Google and Open Handset Alliance is the open source software toolkit for mobile phone. In a few years, Android will be used by millions of Android mobile phones and other mobile devices, and become the main platform of application developers. In this paper, we develop an application contents Booky based on Google Android flatform by using Webview merits and Google search engine. The features of the developed content are as follows. First, a mobile-based Web browser which has an advanced screen resolution and can support more faster viewer than normal web browser as it reduces the amount of data transmission. Second, efficient E-book search and reading functionality. In the performance evaluation, we show the results of simulation using AVD(Android Virture Device).

Smart Device Based Localization for Ship Block Logistics

  • In a ship block logistics application, acquisition of locations is required in order to identify location of the ship blocks. A Smart device equipped with a GPS sensor can be used as a mobile client for a ship block logistics application. However the precision of GPS components on a commercial smart device is not high enough. Therefore, using the GPS for localization may produce significant positioning errors in a ship block logistics system. This paper proposes a method to reduce errors in measuring locations using a smart device. Based on the knowledge of how the location information is used in a ship block logistics application, and the predictability of the client's moving line based on geographical layout of a shipyard area, our proposed technique enables a better prediction of the ship blocks location. Performance evaluation shows that the proposed technique can significantly reduce the positional error.

  • In these days, mobile application dealing with information contents on mobile or handheld devices such as mobile communicator, PDA or WAP device face the most important industrial needs. The motivation of this study is the design and implementation of mobile application using high resolution satellite imagery, large-sized image data set. Although major advantages of mobile devices are portability and mobility to users, limited system resources such as small-sized memory, slow CPU, low power and small screen size are the main obstacles to developers who should handle a large volume of geo-based 3D model. Related to this, the previous works have been concentrated on GIS-based location awareness services on mobile; however, the mobile 3D terrain model, which aims at this study, with the source data of DEM (Digital Elevation Model) and high resolution satellite imagery is not considered yet, in the other mobile systems. The main functions of 3D graphic processing or pixel pipeline in this prototype are implemented with OpenGL|ES (Embedded System) standard API (Application Programming Interface) released by Khronos group. In the developing stage, experiments to investigate optimal operation environment and good performance are carried out: TIN-based vertex generation with regular elevation data, image tiling, and image-vertex texturing, text processing of Unicode type and ASCII type.

A Study on Implementation of the Mobile Application of Aid to Navigation Using Location-based Augmented Reality

  • In this paper, we implemented a mobile application of location-based augmented reality that combines self-sensing technology and various safety information using technological advancements of the smartphone. Vessel navigation is a suitable area for augmented reality because it requires accurate knowledge of the distance and location of destinations, danger zones, AtoN, and adjacent vessels. Current smartphone applications only provide 2D images and location information. Such applications do not include information about the surrounding environment, and as a result, they can only function using their own sensing information and surrounding information into a location-based augmented reality. If you provide a variety of sensor information embedded in the smartphone to 'BadaGO', the implemented application through this study, 'BadaGO' can provide safe navigation information to the user device in real time with a variety of its own formed information. The user has a high practicality and applicability of a small ship that is supplied with safe navigation information in a changing marine environment only by providing information through the application on the smartphone.
