In recent years, OFDMA(orthogonal frequency division multiple access) and SC-FDMA(Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access) have been widely studied for the uplink of a mobile communication system. In this paper, PAPR(Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) and BER(Bit Error Rate) performance of the OFDMA and SC-FDMA systems are studied in relation to the uplink of a mobile communication system. Three kinds of sub-carrier allocation methods in the OFDMA system and 2 kinds of sub-carrier allocation methods in SC-FDMA system are suggested to compare and improve system performance. Simulation results show that in the OFDMA system, the first sub-band allocation method has better PAPR reduction performance than the other methods. In the SC-FDMA system, the distributed allocation method offers similar P APR, compared with the sub-band allocation method. P APR can be further reduced by adding a spectrum shaping filter with an appropriate roll of factor. Furthermore, it is found that on average, SC-FDMA can reduce the PAPR by more than 5 dB compared to OFDMA, when the total sub-carrier number is 1,024 and the sub-carrier number allocated to each user changes trom 8 to 512. Because of the frequency diversity and low PAPR characteristics, SC-FDMA system of the distributed sub-carrier allocation method can achieve better BER performance than the OFDMA system.

In this paper, carrier frequency offset and 2-D AoA (Angle-of-Arrival) estimation methods are proposed for an OFDM-based MRS (Mobile Relay Station) with UCA (Uniform Circular Array). The proposed methods are performed by using the preamble symbol in downlink and can improve the performance of CFO estimation significantly, compared with the conventional method. The proposed methods can be divided into two methods (method 1 and method 2) depending on the order of the AoA estimation and CFO estimation. It is shown by computer simulation under Mobile WiMAX environments that the proposed methods can estimate the CFOs and AoAs of adjacent BSs effectively.
This paper presents an efficient carrier recovery algorithm combined with a turbo-coding technique in a mobile communication system. By using a block turbo code made up of independently decodable block codes, we can efficiently recover the fast time-varying carrier phase as well as correct channel errors. Our simulation results reveal that the proposed scheme can accommodate mobiles with high speed, and at the same time can reduce the number of iterations to lock the phase.

New algorithms for frequency channel assignment in small cellular mobile radio system are proposed. The algorithms are for a channel assignment method which control the transmitter power level based on the distance between the cell site and the mobile unit. These algorithms are such that any channel can be used by any cell site and mobile unit, as long as a required threshold level of carrier to interference ratio is maintained. As the cochannel reuse distance decreases, the proposed algorithms have given an increase in capacity in comparison to a fixed channel assignment.
In this paper, we improve performance for system when the carrier recovery signal is not perfect in the multipath mobile wireless communication fast fading channel based on DS-CDMA system. In the case, we use the phase estimation, diversity and adaptive FEC code technique in order to overcome this carrier phase error and mobile wireless fading. As a results in DS-CDMA system, we know that the appropriate use of diversity and adaptive FEC code technique reduced considerably performance degradation due to phase error.

This paper proposed an Inter-Carrier-Interference (ICI) Canceling Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) receiver for 5G mobile system to support 500 km/h linear motor high speed terrestrial transportation service. A receiver in such high-speed train sees the transmission channel which is composed of multiple Doppler-shifted propagation paths. Then, a loss of sub-carrier orthogonality due to Doppler-spread channels causes ICI. The ICI Canceler is realized by the following three steps. First, using the Demodulation Reference Symbol (DMRS) pilot signals, it analyzes three parameters such as attenuation, relative delay, and Doppler-shift of each multi-path component. Secondly, based on the sets of three parameters, Channel Transfer Function (CTF) of sender sub-carrier number 𝒏 to receiver sub-carrier number 𝒍 is generated. In case of 𝒏≠𝒍, the CTF corresponds to ICI factor. Thirdly, since ICI factor is obtained, by applying ICI reverse operation by Multi-Tap Equalizer, ICI canceling can be realized. ICI canceling performance has been simulated assuming severe channel condition such as 500 km/h, 2 path reverse Doppler Shift for QPSK, 16QAM, 64QAM and 256QAM modulations. In particular, for modulation schemes below 16QAM, we confirmed that the difference between BER in a 2 path reverse Doppler shift environment and stationary environment at a moving speed of 500 km/h was very small when the number of taps in the multi-tap equalizer was set to 31 taps or more. We also confirmed that the BER performance in high-speed mobile communications for multi-level modulation schemes above 64QAM is dramatically improved by the use of a multi-tap equalizer.

Recently, joint blind equalization and carrier recovery for digital mobile transmission system is of growing interest. In this paper, we describe new receiver structure of joint godard blind equalizer and various recovery loop for QAM modulated signal. After a brief review of Godard blind equalizer and MAP estimation Costas loop, Generalized Costas loop, Leclert loop, Angular form loop, we present two kinds of receiver structures for joint blind equalization and carrier recovery. Using a Monto Carlo simulation technique, we can confirm that two kinds of receiver structures operate very well in the steady state.

Since a new entrant in the telecommunications market requires time in order to construct its own network, a requirement on the incumbent operator to implement carrier selection and pre-selection can enable a new entrant to immediately attract customers and earn revenue. Carrier selection can normally be accomplished in two ways, on a call-by-call basis or through carrel pre-selection. Call-by-call selection allows customers to choose a new entrant rather than the incumbent carrier using a specific code designated to the new carrier each time a call is made. Carrier Pre-Selection, on the other hand, allows customers directly connect to the network of one provider to have access automatically to another company's services when they pick up the phone to make certain types of calls. The carrier pre-selection option is generally considered to be a second regulatory step following the implementation of the call-by-call carrier selection option. Carrier pre-selection with the ability to override on a call-by-call basis for long distance, international, local, and fixed-to-mobile calls has now been implemented in many EU countries. This paper attempts to identify the issues in introducing CPS and to draw policy implications from other countries' experiences.

The performance of a carrier recovery is severely degraded because of amplitude fluctuations and random phases of the received signai caused by multipath fading in mobile radio channel. In this paper, we present two kinds of carrier recovery technique using pilot tone such as TCT(Tone Calibration Technique) and DTCT(Dual Tone Calibration Technique) and analyze these performance both in Rayleigh and Rician fadings. we also evaluate the BER performance of two carrier recovery systems in terms of design parameters such as pilot-to-singnal power ratio, and detection filter-to-pilot filter bandwidth ratio.
