  • IPTV current service change from a TV IPTV service providing digital broadcast, one- way VOD service, terrestrial broadcast to a web IPTV service,which is using wireless networks which is also used by interactive digital broadcasting However, IPTV, is being currently serviced, causes a lot of interaction with viewers because of inconvenience of using and has problems that users do not have enough content type to access. Additionally, there is also a problem that adding contents cover a large part of screen. To solve these problems, the thing that adding QR code to IPTV screen being recognized by Smartphone. In this way, we can provide the idea how to access to interaction information and also provide to clients an easy way creating and accessing to the contents by developing an editor that can insert QR code to video.

Digital Satellite Radio Broadcast Channel Information Search Process Method (Digital Satellite Radio 방송의 채널 정보 Searching 처리 Method에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we present a very useful method for updating digital satellite radio broadcast channel information. When a devices equipped with function to receive Digital Satellite Radio such as Home Theater, MP3 player, mobile phones, car audio system and various other types of Digital Devices, receives new Digital satellite radio (will be mentioned as XM radio onwards) broadcast channel information, only the current received XM radio broadcast channel and N number of pre/post nearby broadcast channels are scanned randomly in zigzag manner. Then the previous XM radio broadcast channel information updated with the newly received XM radio broadcast channel information. Since this method can prevent batch update for all XM radio channel, including some channels which less likely did not select by user, update process for real time frequently changed XM radio broadcast channel information can be performed efficiently with minimal or without delay.

  • This research aimed at providing the direction for future improvement of broadcast subtitle design by identifying the user perception on broadcast subtitles of Terrestrial DMB. First, we contemplated on the existing research about broadcast subtitles. As a result, we found out that broadcast subtitle plays an essential role when watching a program and that the minimization of letters, clear fonts and color arrangement, rearrangement of components were identified as main factors that increase readability. However, the terrestrial DMB user evaluation on image quality, composition, color and brightness was not that positive. In addition, the evaluation on the readability of broadcast subtitle, information transmission, subtitle composition, letter font, number and size of letter was more negative. Developing a subtitle design which considers user convenience and suits terrestrial DMB screens in aspects of broadcast subtitle form and composition, limit of information, clearness and size of the letter is required.

Two Level Bin-Packing Algorithm for Data Allocation on Multiple Broadcast Channels (다중 방송 채널에 데이터 할당을 위한 두 단계 저장소-적재 알고리즘)

  • In data broadcasting systems, servers continuously disseminate data items through broadcast channels, and mobile client only needs to wait for the data of interest to present on a broadcast channel. However, because broadcast channels are shared by a large set of data items, the expected delay of receiving a desired data item may increase. This paper explores the issue of designing proper data allocation on multiple broadcast channels to minimize the average expected delay time of all data items, and proposes a new data allocation scheme named two level bin-packing(TLBP). This paper first introduces the theoretical lower-bound of the average expected delay, and determines the bin capacity based on this value. TLBP partitions all data items into a number of groups using bin-packing algorithm and allocates each group of data items on an individual channel. By employing bin-packing algorithm in two step, TLBP can reflect a variation of access probabilities among data items allocated on the same channel to the broadcast schedule, and thus enhance the performance. Simulation is performed to compare the performance of TLBP with three existing approaches. The simulation results show that TLBP outperforms others in terms of the average expected delay time at a reasonable execution overhead.

  • 방송 환경은 방송을 소비하는 시청자의 요구를 충족하기 위해 과거 흑백 TV를 거쳐 컬러 TV, HD, 3D, UHDTV에 이르기까지 다양한 형태로 기술의 발전이 이루어졌다. 시청자의 요구는 고화질의 방송 서비스에서 멈추지 않고, 고정형 방송뿐만이 아닌 이동형 방송에서도 동일한 품질의 방송을 요구하기에 이르렀다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 시청자들의 요구를 충족할 수 있도록 현재 개발된 방송 표준 중 UHDTV를 서비스할 수 있는 전송 규격을 포함하는 유럽의 차세대 방송을 기반으로 고정 및 이동 환경에서 UHD 서비스를 제공받을 수 있는 융합형 방송 시스템을 위한 다중화기의 구조를 제안한다.

  • 이동 방송 환경에서 사용자가 특정 프로그램 또는 특정 서비스를 편리하게 수신할 수 있도록 하기 위해서는 고정 환경과 달리 적합한 사용자 상호작용이 고려되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 디지털 라디오 환경에서 청취자에게 서비스를 편리하고 효과적으로 접근하고 수신할 수 있도록 하는 멀티모달 기반의 사용자 상호작용 기술에 대해서 소개하고자 한다. 이를 위해 디지털 라디오 환경 및 서비스 구조를 분석하고 이를 기반으로 사용자 상호작용이 필요한 사항을 도출하였다. 사용자 상호작용 엔진은 XML 마크업 언어를 기반으로 서비스, 프로그램 및 콘텐츠 수준의 상호작용이 가능하도록 구성하였다.

  • 셀룰러 이동통신망을 이용한 멀티캐스트/브로드캐스트 전송 기술은 이미 수 년 전부터 표준화되어 왔지만 무선 전송 대역의 부족과 멀티캐스트/브로드캐스트 서비스의 필요성에 대한 문제로 상용화까지는 이루어지지 못하고 있었다. 그러나, 3GPP의 LTE와 mobile WiMAX 기술의 등장으로 인하여 전송 대역의 부족에 대한 문제가 해결되었고 스마트폰 등 첨단 기능을 가지는 이동 단말의 등장으로 인하여 멀티캐스트/브로드캐스트 서비스에 대한 요구가 증가되는 등 기술 및 시장에 형성되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 3GPP LTE에서 멀티미디어 멀티캐스트/브로드캐스트 전송 기술에 대한 표준화 동향에 대해서 살펴보고 이를 제공하기 위한 망구조에 대하여 설명한다. 그리고 3GPP LTE에서 동기화된 멀티셀 전송을 위한 전송 기술, 프레임 구조아 동기화 기술에 대해서 기술한다.

A Probabilistic Broadcasting Mechanism based on Cross Layer Model Deliberating Received Signal Strength Ratio in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

  • Mobile Ad Hoc Networks(MANETs) consists of mobile nodes which communicate with each other without any centralized infrastructure. Message broadcasting by flooding for route discovery in MANET can result in high redundant retransmission, contention and collision of broadcasting packet, known as the broadcast storm problem collectively. The cross-layer design is adopted in this paper, which lets routing layer share the received signal strength information at MAC layer. Also this paper proposes a new probabilistic approach that dynamically adjusts the rebroadcasting probability of a node for routing request packets (RREQs) according to the received signal strength. The simulation results show that the proposed approach demonstrates better performance than blind flooding, fixed probabilistic broadcasting approaches.

Delay Analysis for Packet Forward Scheme in Wireless Packet Networks

  • In a packet-switched wireless cellular network, a packet destined to a mobile station is queued at a base station and then broadcast over the base station's cell. When an active mobile station leaves a cell, there re-main packets which are destined to the mobile and not yet delivered to it at the cell's base station. For application which are sensitive to packet losses, such back- logged packets must be forwarded to the new base station. Otherwise, an end-to-end retransmission may be required. However, an increase in packet delay is incurred by employing the packet forward scheme, since a packet may be forwarded many times before it is delivered to the destined mobile station. For an enhanced quality-of-service level, it is preferred to reduce tile packet delay time. In this paper, we develop an analytical approximation method for deriving mean packet delay times. Using the approximation and simulation methods, we investigate the effect of network parameters on the packet delay time.
