With the development of wireless data communication technology, all IP-based network will become compositions of wired and wireless networks. TCP is a connection-oriented, reliable transport protocol and has been used as de facto standard in most wired networks. Because TCP's congestion control algorithm could not distinguish congestion from BER, link failure and frequent route changes, TCP shows a poor performance over mobile ad-hoc networks. In this paper, the theoretical feature of TCP was studied and the performance of TCP over mobile ad-hoc networks was analyzed with ns2.

In this paper, we propose the enhanced CSMA/CA MAC protocol fir mobile multi-hop wireless Ad-hoc networks. In the conventional wireless Ad-hoc network such as WLAN using CSMA/CA MAC protocol, communications between terminals that fn connected within multi-hop node may degrade the transmission efficiencies as increasing the multi-hop nodes because of RTS-CTS-DATA-ACK message exchange between terminals. In this raper, we apply the ACK/RTS control message into multi-hop transmission between terminals for wireless ad-hoc networks and improve the data traffic transmission efficiencies compared with conventional CSMA/CA MAC protocol used in WLAN.
The routing protocols designed for wired networks can hardly be used for mobile ad-hoc networks due to limited bandwidth of wireless transmission and unpredictable topological change. Recently, several routing protocols for mobile ad-hoc networks have been Proposed. However, when theme protocols are applied to support real time services like multimedia transmission, they still have problems in ad-hoc networks, where the topology changes drastically. In this paper, we propose a new route selection algorithm which selects the most reliable route that is impervious to route failures by topological changes by mobile hoots. For reliable route selection, the concept of virtual zone (stable zone and caution zone) is proposed. The zone is located in a mobile node'transmission range and determined by mobile node's mobility information received by Global Positioning System (GPS). The proposed algorithm is applied to the route discovery procedure of the existing on-demand routing protocol, AODV, and evaluated by simulation in various traffic conditions and mobility patterns.
In an infrastructure-based wireless network, an access point is used for all communications among mobile devices. However, when a mobile device moves into a dead Bone, a connectivity disruption between the mobile device and the access point occurs. Such connectivity disruption consequently leads to another connectivity disruption between the mobile device moving toward the dead zone and other wireless-enabled devices located within the area of the infrastructure-based wireless network. To cope with the connectivity disruption in the infrastructure-based wireless network the ad hoc network that dynamically forms a network without any preexisting communication infrastructure needs to be set up to provide seamless connections among mobile devices. In this paper, we propose the DNSQ-MAC (Dynamic Network State aware QoS-Medium Access Control) technique that meets the deadlines of MAC frames forwarded over hop-by-hop multipaths and guarantees the QoS performance of an ad hoc-based wireless network. Mobile devices incorporating the DNSQ-MAC technique are capable of adjusting to the new dynamic network status in order to enhance the QoS performance in the ad hoc-based wireless network. A case study which exploits the Qualnet simulator shows that the proposed DNSQ-MAC technique can guarantee the deadlines of MAC frames forwarded over hop-by-hop multipaths and enhance the QoS performance of various routing protocols and packet schedulers running on the network layer above the MAC layer.
An ad hoc network is a system of wireless mobile nodes that dynamically self-organize in arbitrary and temporary network topologies allowing people and devices to internetwork without any preexisting communication infrastructure. Although ad hoc network is attractive solution, there are still some major flaws that prevent commercial growth. Security is one of these main barriers; ad hoc networks are known to be particularly vulnerable to security attack. It is difficult to establish a centralized key distribution center and a trusted certification authority to provide cryptographic keys and digital certificates to nodes. To prevent attacks in ad hoc routing protocols, many algorithms have been used. In this paper, we have depicted a secure framework for multipath routing in wireless multihop network, which is comprehensive solution for secure data forwarding in wireless multihop networks. With the simulation results, the proposed scheme is compared with existing source routing scheme.
Ad-hoc networks are temporary wireless systems composed of mobile nodes without any fixed infrastructure. The life time of each node in the ad-hoc network significantly affects the life time of whole ad-hoc network. A node which drained out its battery may incur the partition of whole network in some network topology The life time of each node depends on the battery capacity of each node. Therefore if all mobile nodes in the network live evenly long, the life time of the network will be longer. In this paper, we propose Power-Aware Dynamic Source Routing (PADSR) which selects the best path to make the life time of the network be longer. In PADSR, when a source node finds a path to the destination node, it selects the best path that makes nodes in the network live evenly long. To find the best path, PADSR considers the consumption of transmission energy and residual battery capacity of nodes upon the path. Consequently the network lives longer if we use PADSR.

Basically Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is an autonomous system with the collection of mobile nodes, these nodes are connected to each other by using wireless networks. A mobile ad hoc network poses this quality which makes topology in dynamic manner. As this type of network is Ad Hoc in nature hence it doesn't have fixed infrastructure. If a node wishes to transfer data from source node to a sink node in the network, the data must be passed through intermediate nodes to reach the destination node, hence in this process data packet loss occurs in various MANET protocols. This research study gives a comparison of various Mobile Ad Hoc Network routing protocols like proactive (DSDV) and reactive (AODV, DSR) by using random topology with more intermediate nodes using CBR traffic. Our simulation used 50, 100, and 150 nodes variations to examine the performance of the MANET routing protocols. We compared the performance of DSDV, AODV and DSR, MANET routing protocols with the result of existing protocol using NS-2 environment, on the basis of different performance parameters like Packet Delivery Ratio, average throughput and average end to end delay. Finally we found that our results are better in terms of throughput and packet delivery ratio along with low data loss.
Ad-hoc networks have the dynamic topology characteristics and most of the applications on ad-hoc networks require the group communication capability. Previously proposed multicast mechanisms on mobile ad-hoc networks build multicast-infrastructures like the tree or mesh for the group communication and these infrastructures nay cause significant overhead especially in a highly dynamic mobile ad-hoc network environment. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new multicast mechanism supporting multicast services based on only the underlying unicast routing tables, hence any multicast-related infrastructures like trees and meshes are not required to be constructed.

Tactical Information Communication Network(TICN) is a concept-type integrated Military Communication system that enables precise command control and decision making by unifying the diversified military communication network and conveying diverse range of battle field information on real-time, at right place at right time. TICN is designed to advance into high speed, large capacity, long distance wireless relay transmission. To support mobility in battlefield environments, the application of Ad-hoc networking technology to its wireless communication has been examined. Ad-hoc network is consist of mobile nodes and nodes in the network depends on the cooperation of other nodes for forwarding of packets. In this context, some non-cooperating nodes may delay forwarding of packets or drop the packets. This may hamper the network as a whole and disrupt communication between the cooperating nodes. To solve this problem, we present a solution with a Node Weight Management Server(NWMS), which manages each node's weight according to its behavior in local area. When the NWMS detects misbehaving node, it increases the node's weight. If the node's weight exceeds a predefined threshold then the NWMS broadcasts the node's information into network to isolate the misbehaving node from the network. These mechanisms show that they are highly effective and can reliably detect a multitude of misbehaving node.
