This study was carried out to identify the characteristics of hydrochemistry controlling groundwater chemical condition in a repository site of Gyeongju. For this study, 12 bore holes of all monitoring bore holes in the study area were selected and total 46 groundwater samples were collected with depth. In addition, 3 surfacewater samples and 1 seawater sample were collected. For water samples, cations and anions were analyzed. The environmental isotopes(${\delta}^{18}O-{\delta}D$, Tritium, ${\delta}^{13}C,\;{\cdot}{\delta}^{34}S$) were also analyzed to trace the origin of water and solutes. The result of ${\delta}^{18}O\;and\;{\delta}D$ analysis showed that surface water and groundwater were originated from precipitation. Tritium concentrations of groundwater decreased with depth but high concentrations of tritium indicated that groundwater was recharged recently. The results of ion and correlation analysis showed that groundwater types of the study area were represented by Ca-Na-$HCO_3$ and Na-Cl-$SO_4$, which was caused by sea spray and water-rock interaction. Especially, high ratio of Na content in groundwater resulted from ion exchange. For redox condition of groundwater, the values of DO and Eh decreased with depth, which indicated that reducing condition was formed in deeper groundwater. In addtion, high concentration of Fe and Mn showed that redox condition of groundwater was controlled by the reduction of Fe and Mn oxides.

In this paper, to develop PTCR(Positive Temperature Coefficient of Resistance) thermistor with high withstanding voltage, Ca were added to. the compositions of $(Ba_{0.9165-X}-Sr_{0.08}-Ca_X-Y_{0.0035})TiO_3+MnO_2$ 0.02wt%+$SiO_2$ 0.5wt%. the effects of Ca additions were researched according the increasing of Ca from 0[mol%] to 20[mol%], and the electrical properties were investigated. As increasing Ca additions from 0[mol%] to 20[mol%], the grain size of the specimens was reduced from 11.1[${\mu}m$] to 6.15[${\mu}m$], and also the sintered density was reduced from 5.43[$g/cm^3$] to 5.05[$g/cm^3$] and their the breakdown voltages were increased from 163[V/mm] to 232[V/mm]. It is shown that the breakdown voltage was increased with amount of Ca additions.
We have studied the catalytic combustion of soot particulate over perovskite-type oxides prepared by malic acid method. The catalysts were modified to enhance the activity by substitution of metal into A or B site of perovskite oxide. In addition, the reaction conditions, such as temperature, $O_2$ concentration, space velocity have been studied. The effect of $SO_2$ pretreatment and water introduced into reactants were also examined. In the $LaCoO_3$ catalyst, the partial substitution of alkali metals into A site enhanced the catalytic activity in the combustion of soot particulate and the activity was shown in the order : Cs>K>Na; In the $La_{0.6}Cs_{0.4}CoO_3 $; catalyst, the substitution of Fe or Mn showed no effect on the ignition temperature. The ignition temperature decreased with increasing $O_2$ concentration and contact time. The introduction of water into reactants feed decreased the ignition temperature and the pretreatment of $SO_2$ showed no effect on the catalytic activity.
Hydroxyl radicals were detected and their qualitative yields were estimated by using chemiluminescence method and $\gamma$-irradiation technique in oxygen or chlorine dioxide radicals bleaching conditions. The correlation of hydroxyl radical formation and lignin model(Apocynol) or carbohydrate model($\alpha$-D-glucopyranose and methyl-$\beta$-D-glucopyranoside) degradation was studied in the presence of metal ion or without metal ion. The results showed that the presence of metal ions efficiently affected the formation of hydroxyl radicals in oxygen bleaching process, in the order of $Cu^{2+}$ > $Mn^{2+}$ > $Mg^{2+}$ > $Fe^{2+}$, and these metal gave also rise to the degradation of carbohydrate. But it was found that the addition of $100{\mu}m\;Mg^{2+}$ gave an efficient protection against carbohydrate degradation and suppressed the hydroxyl radical formation under oxygen bleaching conditions. And the presence of $Cu^{2+}$ had a detrimental effect on the stability of carbohydrates, whereas the addition of $3{\mu}m\;Mn^{2+}$ surprisingly had a small protective effect on methyl--$\beta$-D-glucopyranoside. In the $ClO_2$ radical bleaching conditions the hydroxyl radical expected to generate from water or substrates was not detected in the presence of metals.
As the use of lithium-ion secondary batteries is rapidly increasing due to the rapid growth of the electric vehicle market, the disposal and recycling of spent batteries after use has been raised as a serious problem. Since stored energy must be removed in order to recycle the spent batteries, an effective discharging process is required. In this study, graphite and NCM622 were used as active materials to manufacture coin-type half cells and full cells, and the electrochemical behavior occurring during overdischarge was analyzed. When the positive and negative electrodes are overdischarged respectively using a half-cell, a conversion reaction in which transition metal oxide is reduced to metal occurs first in the positive electrode, and a side reaction in which Cu, the current collector, is corroded following decomposition of the SEI film occurs in the negative electrode. In addition, a side reaction during overdischarge is difficult to occur because a large polarization at the initial stage is required. When the full cell is overdischarged, the cell reaches 0 V and the overdischarge ends with almost no side reaction due to this large polarization. However, if the full cell whose capacity is degraded due to the cycle is overdischarged, corrosion of the Cu current collector occurs in the negative electrode. Therefore, cycled cell requires an appropriate treatment process because its electrochemical behavior during overdischarge is different from that of a fresh cell.
Composite cathodes of 50/50 vol% LSM- YSZ (La$_{1-x}$Sr$_{x}$MnO$_3$-yttria stabilized zirconia) were deposited onto surface- Polished YSZ electrolytes by colloidal deposition technique. The cathode characteristics were then examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) and studied by ac impedance spectroscopy (IS). The typical impedance spectra measured for an air/LSM- YSZ/YSZ/Pt/air cell at $700^{\circ}C$ were composed of two depressed arcs. Addition of YSZ to the LSM electrode significantly enlarged the triple-phase boundaries (TPB) length inside the electrode, which led to a pronounced decrease in cathodic resistivity of LSM-YSZ composite electrodes. Polishing the electrolyte surface to eliminate the influences of surface impurities and to enlarge the TPB length can further reduce cathode resistivity. The cathodic resistivity of the LSM- YSZ electrodes was a strong function of operation temperature, composition and particle size of cathode materials, applied current, and electrolyte surface roughness.
A cytoplasmic endoprotease, named protease Ci, has been partially purified by classical chromatographic procedures. This enzyme degrades insulin, glucagon and bovine growth hormone to trichloroacetic acid-soluble materials, but shows little or no hydrolysis of bovine serum albumin, casein or globin. It has a molecular weight of about 120,000 as determined by gel filtration on Sephadex G200, and it appears to be consisted of two identical subunits having molecular weight of 54,000 when estimated by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate. Protease Ci has an optimum pH of 7.5, and has an isoelectric point of 5.5. This enzyme is a metalloprotease, since it is inhibited by o-phenanthroline and can be activated by the addition of divalent metal cations, such as $Mn^++$ and $Co^++$. Protease ci is inhibited by p-hydroxymercuribenzoic acid, but not by either of leupeptin or Ep475 which are specific inhibitors of sulfhydryl protease. It is distinct from protease Pi, a perplasmic insulin degrading enzyme, since protease Ci is localized to the cytoplasm. The physiological function of protease Ci is presently unknown.
This study was carried out to investigated optimum mixing ratio of Korean natural Juglans mandshurica using as functional plants. Total nitrogen and carbon source of J. mandshurica was 0.21% and 46.0%, respectively and C/N ratio was 219. Total nitrogen source and pH of substrate mixed with J. mandshurica was 2.3~2.9 and 5.0, respectively. The contents of CaO, MgO and $Na_2O$ at J. mandshurica media were higher at harvest media than inoculation media. Mycelial growth was the fastest at J. mandshurica 20%, and slower by increase of J. mandshurica substrate. Yields of fruiting body show the highest to 163 g/850 mL of medium which are addition 10% of J. mandshurica sawdust, and diameter and thick of pileus were the highest, too. The L value of pileus and stipes were increased by increase of J. mandshurica substrate, but there was no significant difference in the a-value and the b-value. The contents of $P_2O_5$ and $K_2O$ of fruiting body were increased at J. mandshurica substrate, but there was no significant difference in contents of CaO, MgO and $Na_2O$. The contents of Cu of fruiting body was decreased by increase of J. mandshurica substrate, but Fe, Mn and Zn were increased.

A study on the separation of $^{99}Tc,\;^{94}Nb,\;^{55}Fe,\;^{90}Sr\;and\;^{59/63}Ni$ in various radioactive wastes discharged from nuclear power plants has been performed for a use in their quantification which is indispensible for the evaluation of the radionuclide inventory Ni was recovered along with Ca, Mg, Al, Cr, Ti, Mn, Ce, Na, K, and Cu through the sequential separation procedure of Re(as a surrogate of $^{99}Tc$), Nb, Fe and Sr by anion exchange and Sr-Spec extraction chromatography. In this research, chemical separation of Ni from the co-existing elements was investigated by cation exchange and Ni-Spec extraction chromatography. Precipitation behaviour of Ni and the co-existing elements with dimethylglyoxime(DMG) was investigated in ammonium $citrate/ethanol-H_2O$ and tartaric $acid/acetone-H_2O$ in order to purify separated Ni fractions and to prepare $^{59/63}Ni$ source for the radioactivity measurement using a gas proportional counter. Recovery of Ni separated through ion exchange chromatographic separation procedure was $92.1\%$ with relative standard deviation of $0.9\%$. In addition, recovery of Ni with DMG in the tartaric $acid/acetone-H_2O$ was $85.6\%$ with relative standard deviation of $1.9\%$.

Coated conductor is required to have good critical current property for high efficiency of electric power applications. Until now, long coated conductor does not show high Jc over 3 MA/$cm^2$ in thick superconducting layer because of texture degradation by thick superconducting layer. In this study, in order to overcome this issue, thicker superconducting layer was deposited with optimized conditions to reduce the degradation of critical current density. SmBCO superconducting coated conductor was deposited with 1~3 um of thickness at $750\sim850^{\circ}C$ under 15~20 mTorr of oxygen partial pressure using batch type EDDC( evaporation using drum in dual chamber). The buffered substrate for superconducting layer deposition was used IBAD-MgO template with the architecture of $LaMnO_3/MgO/Y_2O_3/Al_2O_3$/Hastelloy. After fabrication of coated conductor, critical current was measured by 4-prove method under self-magnetic field and 77K. In addition, surface morphology and texture were analyzed by SEM and XRD, respectively. 3 um thick SmBCO coated conductor shows highest $I_C$ values of 638A/cm-w in 1 m long in the world.
