Combustion Synthesis of $LiMn_2$$O_4$with Citric Acid and the Effect of Post-heat Treatment

  • Combustion process with citrate was used to produce the LiMn$_2$O$_4$powder. Precursors are pre-ignited in open air followed by post-heating in the range from $600^{\circ}C$ to 80$0^{\circ}C$ for 4h. With varying the molar ratio (R) of ethylene glycol (EG) to citric acid (CA) from 0 to 4, the effect of EG content on powder characteristics is evaluated. Vacuum drying promote the auto-ignition at room temperature. With small addition of EG metal ion was selectively segregated with organic substances and undesired lithium evaporation occurred during post-heating. LiMn$_2$O$_4$phase which is produced by combustion reaction was decomposed back to Mn$_3$O$_4$because the reaction temperature was higher than 95$0^{\circ}C$. With increasing EG content, the homogeneity of LiMn$_2$O$_4$powder increased and specific surface area increased. And lithium evaporation during vacuum drying and/or ignition also increased.

V첨가 0.35%C-Mn 미소합금강의 연속공기냉각특성 (The Characteristics of Continuous Air Cooling in 0.35%C-Mn Steel Microalloyed with Vanadium)

  • The effects of austenitizing temperatures and times and cooling rate on the characteristics of continuous air cooling have been investigated for 0.3%C-Mn steels microalloyed with vanadium. Transformation start temperatures have been found to be measured from temperature-time curve directly obtained with continuous air cooling and to decrease with increasing austenitizing temperature, cooling rate and Mn contents. The coarsening behavior of austenite grain size has been measured to abnormally grow at $1050^{\circ}C$ and rapidly grow at $1200^{\circ}C$. It has been found that the volume fraction of pearlite was linealy proportional to the reciprocal square root of austenite grain size. The hardness has been measured to increase with increasing cooling rate up to $250^{\circ}C/min.$ and to remain relatively unchanged in the range of $250{\sim}400^{\circ}C/min.$ showing that hardness valves for steel with a higher Mn content increase more than those for steel with a lower Mn content. The impact property has been found to decrease with increasing of austenite grain size but does not linealy change with the reciprocal square root of austenite grain size.

  • The AISI 216L stainless steel with a composition of Fe-16Cr-6Ni-6Mn-1.7Mo (wt.%) was oxidized at $700{\sim}900^{\circ}C$ in air for 100 h. At $700^{\circ}C$, a thin $Mn_{1.5}Cr_{1.5}O_4$ oxide layer with a thickness of $0.4{\mu}m$ formed. At $800^{\circ}C$, an outer thin $Fe_2O_3$ oxide layer and a thick inner $FeCr_2O_4$ oxide layer with a total thickness of $30{\mu}m$ formed. The non-adherent scale formed at $800^{\circ}C$ was susceptible to cracking. At $900^{\circ}C$, an outer thin $Fe_2O_3$ oxide layer and a thick inner $Mn_{1.5}Cr_{1.5}O_4$ oxide layer formed, whose total thickness was $10{\sim}15{\mu}m$. The scales formed at $900^{\circ}C$ were non-adherent and susceptible to cracking. 216 L stainless steel oxidized faster than 316 L stainless steel, owing to the increment of the Mn content and the decrement of Ni content.

  • The current experiment has quantitatively investigated the effect of the content of CaO and SiO2 on the microstructure, density, electrical resistivity, power loss and initial permeability of manganese zinc ferrites. The density increased initially with CaO and SiO2 content and the further addition showed an adverse effect. The excess addition of CaO and SiO2 developed a discontinuous grain growth with numerous pores inside grains and lowered the electrical resistivity. The initial permeability decreased with increasing the content of SiO2. The samples with relatively low power loss showed that half of the total loss at 10$0^{\circ}C$, 100 kHz and 2000 Gauss was due to the eddy current loss.

Effect of Oxygen Annealing on the Set Voltage Distribution Ti/MnO2/Pt Resistive Switching Devices

  • Significant improvements in the switching voltage distribution are required for the development of unipolar resistive memory devices using $MnO_x$ thin films. The $V_{set}$ of the as-grown $MnO_x$ film ranged from 1 to 6.2 V, whereas the $V_{set}$ of the oxygen-annealed film ranged from 2.3 to 3 V. An excess of oxygen in an $MnO_x$ film leads to an increase in $Mn^{4+}$ content at the $MnO_x$ film surface with a subsequent change in the $Mn^{4+}/Mn^{3+}$ ratio at the surface. This was attributed to the change in $Mn^{4+}/Mn^{3+}$ ratios at the $MnO_x$ surface and to grain growth. Oxygen annealing is a possible solution for improving the switching voltage distribution of $MnO_x$ thin films. In addition, crystalline $MnO_x$ can help stabilize the $V_{set}$ and $V_{reset}$ distribution in memory switching in a Ti/$MnO_x$/Pt structure. The improved uniformity was attributed not only to the change of the crystallinity but also to the redox reaction at the interface between Ti and $MnO_x$.

  • Mn의 함량을 달리하여 제조한 Al-Li-Cu-Mg-Mn-Zr 합금의 미고용상 및 분산상을 EPMA(Electron Probe Microanalyzer)와 SAEM(Scanning Auger Electron Microscope)으로 분석하였다. 또한 미고용상의 부피 분율, 분포 및 형태를 광학현미경으로 관찰하였으며, 상온과 고온에서의 인장 특성을 조사하였다. Mn의 함량이 증가함에 따라 미고용상의 부피분율을 급격히 증가하고 연신율을 감소하였다. Mn은 기지 조직의 결정립을 미세하고 균일하게 분포하도록 하였다. 인장시험 결과, 0.44 wt% Mn이 첨가된 합금이 다른 합금보다 우수한 기계적 특성을 나타내었다.

  • The influence of MnO2 on the sintering property and PTCR behavior of(Ba0.8Sr0.2)TiO2 has been investigated. And the densities, grain sizes and electrical resitivities of specimens were measured as a function of doping with Mn ion of varying concentration. The density and grain size of the sintered specimens were almost the same regardless of MnO2 addition up to 0.2mol% MnO2. But in the case of 0.25mol% MnO2 addition, abnormal grain growth was appeared. So the grain size distribution was wide and density decreased greatly. The room-temperature resistivity increased as Mn content increased and the temperature coefficient of resistivity was highest in the case of 0.15mol% MnO2 addition.

토양조건에 따른 고추와 토마토의 철 및 망간 흡수특성 (Uptake of Fe and Mn in Red Pepper and Tomato Plants under Different Soil Conditions)

  • 토양을 침지한 후 배수, 통기 및 침지를 조합한 처리에서 토양의 Eh와 수분함량을 조사함과 아울러 고추에 대하여 토양단독, 토양+상토+바로크의 혼용처리와 토마토에 대하여 토양단독, 토양+볏짚, 토양+퇴비, 토양+Aeration의 혼용처리를 하여 식물체 엽 중 Fe과 Mn흡수 특성을 구명하기 위하여 포트조건에서 시험을 수행하였다. 토양 환원처리 후 Eh와 토양 수분함량을 조사한 결과, 배수와 Aeration을 처리한 후 72시간부터 토양을 산화상태로 변화시켰으며, 토양 수분함량은 처리와 동시에 감소하기 시작하였다. 정식 후 30일에 채취한 고추 식물체의 엽 중 Fe와 Mn을 분석한 결과, 토양 단독처리구의 식물체 엽 중 Mn은 토양 산성에 의해 과잉 흡수($1,324mg\;kg^{-1}$) 되었으며, 길항작용에 의해 Fe 흡수장애가 나타났다. 혼합 토양 처리구에서의 식물체 엽 중 Mn 함량($947mg\;kg^{-1}$)은 토양 단독 처리구에 비해 적었으나 Fe 흡수장애를 야기하였다. 정식 후 60일에 채취한 토마토 식물체의 엽 중 Fe와 Mn을 분석한 결과에서 Fe 함량은 토양(50%) + 퇴비(50%)처리에서 가장 높았고, Mn 함량은 토양 단독 처리에서 가장 높게 나타났다. 본 시험의 결과로 볼 때 작물의 생육은 Eh 및 공극률이 토양 수분함량과 밀접한 관계가 있으며, 토양이 산성상태일 때 식물체는 토양으로부터 Mn을 우선적으로 흡수하며, 이는 Fe 결핍을 야기하는 것으로 판단되었다.

열간압연한 Fe-17wt%Mn 합금의 기계적 성질과 진동감쇠능에 미치는 티타늄 첨가의 영향 (Effects of Ti on Mechanical Property and Damping Capacity in Hot-rolled Fe-17%Mn Alloy)

  • Effects of Ti on damping capacity and mechanical properties are investigated in hot rolled Fe-17%Mn alloy. The existing damping alloy with Fe-Mn binary system was limited the use by high production cost, however in case of using scrap iron instead of pure iron although the content of carbon is higher it is possible to be applied wider field especially construction items because the production cost is lower. However, the excellent specific damping capacity is dropped due to the high content of carbon, we developed advanced type of damping alloy included Ti. TiC is formed with added Ti and it holds the specific damping capacity similar to existing damping alloy. The effect of Ti on damping capacity is found to be beneficial in carbon-containing alloy, which is attributed to the depletion of carbon solute due to the formation of TiC.

기후 요인이 단감 '부유' 및 '서촌조생'잎의 무기성분 함량 변화에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Meteorological Elements on Changes of Inorganic Nutrient Contents in Leaf of 'Fuyu' and 'Nishimurawase'sweet persimmon)

  • 본 연구는 동일 포장 내 부유와 서촌조생 품종의 잎 내 무기성분의 시기별 함량 변화와 기상요인을 조사하였다. '부유'와 '서초조생' 잎의 N, P, K, 및 Cu 함량은 후기로 갈수록 감소되었으나, Ca, Mg, 및 Mn 함량은 증가되었다. 그리고 '부유' 잎의 K함량은 서촌조생' 보다 높았으나, '서촌조생' 잎의 P와 Ca 함량은 '부유' 보다 높았다. 평균기온과 K 함량은 정의 상관이 인정되었다. 강우량은 Ca 함량과는 정의 상관이, N과 Cu 함량과는 부의 상관이 인정되었다. 그리고 일조량은 N과 Cu 함량과는 정의 상관이, Ca, Mg 및 Mn과는 부의 상관이 인정되었다.
