  • In this paper we introduce a new concept of weakly positive upper orthant dependence POD of hitting times of stochastic processes. This concept is weaker than the positively orthant dependent and it is closed under a certain statistical operations of W POD ordering. Examples are given to illustrate these concepts.

  • The compound, Ti3(Al,Si)C2, was synthesized by hot pressing a powder mixture of TiCX, Al and Si. Its oxidation at 900 and 1000 oC in air for up to 50 h resulted in the formation of rutile-TiO2, -Al2O3 and amorphous SiO2. During oxidation, Ti diffused outwards to form the outer TiO2 layer, and oxygen was transported inwards to form the inner mixed layer.

  • From the principle of CHN-Corder analysis, it is obvious that seperation of chlorine and bromine in a sample is nearly impossible. In order to analyze, chlorine, bromine, and sulfur seperately in a sample which is a single organic compound or a mixture of organic drugs, combination of flask combustion method and CHN-Corder was successfully attempted.

  • One of the consequences of hyperglycemia is the excessive nonenzymatic glycation of proteins known as Millard reaction. Under hyperglycemia the irreversibly formed advanced glycation endproducts(AGEs) do not return to normal when hyperglycemia is corrected and continue to accumulate over the lifetime of protein. AGEs are largely involved in the pathogenesis of diabetic complications. To find possible AGEs inhibitor, BSA was added to a mixture of sugars and unprocessed-, processed Coptidis Rhizoma, Berberine, its standard compound or AG(Aminoguanidine HCl: positive control). • This study looks into the dyeing properties and functionality of cotton fabrics dyed in both the Spirodela polyrhiza extract and the extract resulting from the mixture of Salvia plebeia R. Br. and Spirodela polyrhiza. Since the UV-Vis Spectrum of the methanol extract of Spirodela polyrhiza shows absorption peaks at 256, 268nm, and 345nm, it can be inferred that the compound that Spirodela polyrhiza contains is a flavonoid. In addition, it can also be presumed that, by analyzing the infrared absorption spectrum of Spirodela polyrhiza, the plant contains flavonoid compounds, just like Salvia plebeia R. Br.. The UV protection factors of the cotton fabrics dyed in both the Spirodela polyrhiza extract and the extract from the mixture of Salvia plebeia R. Br. and Spirodela polyrhiza were 50+, presenting outstanding UV protection factors. The deodorization rate of the cotton dyed in the Spirodela polyrhiza extract was between 30 and 120 minutes, and the rate rose from 92% to 97% as time passed. The deodorization rate of the cotton dyed in the extract from the mixture of Salvia plebeia R. Br. and Spirodela polyrhiza increased from 88% to more than 91%. The result also revealed that overall the fastness of color, including color fastness to washing related to change in color, as well as the color fastness to light of the fabric dyed in the extract from the mixture of the two plants improved, compared to the cloth dyed only in Spirodela polyrhiza extract. Furthermore, the antibacterial activity was also strengthened.

  • For the encapsulation of flavor compounds, maltodextrin (MD), gum arabic (GA) alkenylsuccinated modified starch (MS) and gellan gum were chosen for wall materials and their combination was optimized. Five fruit flavor compounds having boiling point of $90{\sim}200^{\circ}C$ were selected as core materials and their mixture was incorporated with rapeseed oil (flavor mixture to oil = 1 : 4). Flavor compound mixture to wall material ratio of 1 : 4 was selected, and the amount of maltodextrin was fixed to 30% of the wall material mixture. Gellan gum was selected as an additional wall material to increase emulsion stability. The optimum combination ratio of the wall material mixture for maximal total oil retention and minimal surface oil content is : 30.0% MD ; 26.4% GA ; 39.6% MS ; 4% gellan gum.

  • The lime-soil mixture on tomb barrier (LSMB) is a type of tomb in Joseon Dynasty, which made with so-called 'Sammul' (three material compound) that mixture of lime, fine sand and yellow ocher. This study divided the tombs of the Gungri Site from Joseon Dynasty with layered wall and integrated wall according to the manufacturing types, and investigated on the basis of analysis to material characteristics and making techniques. Analytical samples were classified with lime-soil mixtures and soils, and interpreted the mixing characteristics of Sammul based on types of tomb barrier. The tomb barrier which is directly effect to control the inner environment was made with high content of lime. But the finishing or bottom layer were made with low content of lime. Overall the LSMB with integrated wall has higher content of lime and physical property than the LSMB with layered wall. The soil which was compounded as a Sammul and collected near the Gungri Site had similar with mineralogical and geochemical characteristics. Therefore, it is presumed that the fine sand and yellow ocher that made as a Sammul, were used with soil that was distributed around the site. Meanwhile, large scale limestone quarry is distributed near the site. Especially, Gungri Site has a possibility of material supply through water transport, due to the sea route from Asan bay is connected near the site. Thus, there is the possibility of transportation of lime materials from nearby quarry.

  • We have investigated the physical and diffusion barrier property of Ti-Si-N film for Cu metallization. The ternary compound was deposited by using reactive rf magnetron sputtering of a TiSi$_2$target in an Ar/$N_2$gas mixture. Resistivities of the films were in range of 358$\mu$$\Omega$-cm, to 307941$\mu$$\Omega$-cm, and tended to increase with increasing the $N_2$/Ar flow rate ratio. The crystallization of the Ti-Si-N compound started to occur at 100$0^{\circ}C$ with the phases of TiN and Si$_3$N$_4$identified by using XRD(X-ray Diffractometer). The degree of the crystallization was influenced by the $N_2$/Ar flow ratio. The diffusion barrier property of Ti-Si-N film for Cu metallization was determined by AES, XRD and etch pit by secco etching, revealing the failure temperature of 90$0^{\circ}C$ in 43~45at% of nitrogen content. In addition, the very thin compound (10nm) with 43~45at% nitrogen content remained stable up to $700^{\circ}C$. Furthermore, thermal treatment in vacuum at $600^{\circ}C$ improved the barrier property of the Ti-Si-N film deposited at the $N_2$(Ar+$N_2$) ratio of 0.05. The addition of Ti interlayer between Ti-Si-N films caused the drastic decrease of the resistivity with slight degradation of diffusion barrier properties of the compound.

  • For the syntheses of tritium labelled polystyrene, the basic material for the preparation of tritium luminous compound, various methods of labelling such as Tesla discharge, Wilzbach exposure, gamma irradiation, and U V. irradiation were compared in view of getting high specific activity-product. The obtained polystyrene-T(G) by the method of Tesla discharge and by the method of U. V. irradiation had specific activity of 1~1.2 mCi/mg, and these two methods were the most encouraging. Mixing of 1 part of polystyrene-T(G) with 4 parts of ZnS:Cu phosphor, in weight, appeared to be the most suitable ratio in tile preparation of luminous compound in luminosity point of view. When 30 mg. of obtained luminescent mixture was applied on steel plate by using 1 ml. of the selected binder (i.e., 1g of commercial varnish in 100m1. of benzene) the luminosity maximum was ca. 20 micro Lambert. The prepared luminous compound was confirmed to be practically applicable for mine marker or dark-room light source.

  • Compatibility of unsaturated polyester (UP) and low profile agent (LPA) of polystyrene (PS) have been investigated under various mixing conditions such as the ratio of UP and LPA, mixing time, mixing temperature, and input amount of 2nd UP. It was possible to obtain mixture with small particle size and low phase separation in condition of 35 g of LPA, 25 g of 1st UP input, 5 min of mixing time, 1700 rpm of mixing speed, and 45 g of 2nd UP input. It was found that compatibility of UP and LPA was very sensitive to mixing conditions. In addition, molded sample using sheet molding compound prepared by stable mixing condition appeared good properties such as low water adsorption, low shrinkage, and high gloss.
