To study characteristics of DME and Propane blended fuel in mixing drum as time passed, mixing experiment of two components was performed. After 20 wt% of DME and 80 wt% of Propane were injected into mixing drum sequentially, and the mixture ratio of blended fuel was analyzed at several sampling ports. Consequently, DME and Propane were not easily mixed and DME was sunk to the bottom of the mixing drum by the density difference. The daily rate of DME ingredient increase was 0.2-0.3 wt%, and it took over 500 hours until two of them were mixed uniformly. And after recirculation of blended fuel in mixing drum, DME and Propane were mixed immediately and uniformly.
In order to provide a tool for designing more efficient methods of mixing fabric, a simplified discrete element computational model was developed for modeling fabric dynamics in a rotating horizontal drum. Because modeling the interactions between actual pieces of fabric is quite complex, a simplified model was developed where individual pieces of bundled fabric are represented by spherical particles. The simulations are used to investigate fabric bundle kinematics, the power required to drive the rotating drum, and the power dissipated through normal and tangential contacts. Parametric studies indicate only fill percentage, drum rotation speed, and friction coefficient play significant roles in the fabric bundle dynamics.

Main radionuclides of the soil waste stored in Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute are Co-60 and Cs-137. Moisture content of soil is 12%, pH of soil is 5.8, and content of organic matter is 2.2 %. Radioactive concentrations of the soil particle size of which is less than 0.063mm and soil in the drum surface of which is more than radiation dose rate 0.05mR/hr are higher. Meanwhile, radioactive concentration of soil in the drum surface of which is less than radiation dose rate 0.02 mR/hr are mostly lower. On using the mixing solution of ammonium sulfate and citric acid, 62% Co was removed from soil and 41% Cs was removed. Also, on using the mixing solution of ammonium nitrate and citric acid, 61% Co was removed from soil and 39% Cs was removed, and on using the mixing solution of ammonium potassium oxalate, 36% Co was removed and only 3% Cs was removed. And on using only water, removal efficiency is less than 5%.
Industrial mixers to homogeneously blend particulate materials have been developed and widely used in various industries. However, most industrial mixers have at most two-degree-of-freedom for the operation, which limits the range of operation parameter selection for optimal blending. This paper proposes a multi-degree-of-freedom robotic mixer designed by converging a conventional drum blender and a robotic manipulator and evaluated its performance in a virtual operating environment. Discrete element simulations were conducted for mixing performance evaluation. The numerical results showed that the proposed mixer design exhibits a better mixing performance than conventional ones.
Gelatinized rice flours were prepared by drum drying at different moisture contents of slurry made from dry milled and wet milled rice flours. Milled rice samples were prepared from the Chuchung and the Samgang varieties. Degree of gelatinization of drum-dried rice flours revealed over 92% at 60% moisture content of wet milled rice flours and 80% moisture content of dry milled ones. With regards to amylogram and rheological properties, drum-dried rice flours prepared from wet milled raw materials showed higher viscosity than from dry milled ones. Increasing water contents in the slurry increased water absorption index(WAI) and decreased water solubility index(WSI). Hunter's color values of drum-dried rice flour at high moisture contents showed higher L values and lower b values. For the preparation of gelatinized rice flours by drum drying process, the higher water content caused more gelatinized network structure of rice starch in scanning electron micrographs. With regards to farinogram properties of dough with drum-dried rice flours and wheat flours in mixing ratio of 1 to 9 by weight, drum-dried rice flours made from wet milled raw rice flours revealed higher MTI than from dry milled ones.
A total of 4 trials were conducted to evaluate the nutritional value of food waste-byproduct feeds mixture(FWM) rotary drum-pasteurized and cured, to trace the nutritional flow according to the processing stages and finally to determine the optimal mixing formulation of feed ingredients for the growing pigs. Pasteurizing and curing FWM using a rotary drum drier resulted in little change in chemical composition and 8 to $15 \%$ of dry matter losses. Chemical change was affected by different feed ingredients used in each trial. Curding of FWM was caused probably by high moisture content, starch content and(or) physical characteristics of feed ingredients. The optimal mixing ratio of feed ingredients was food waste 45 : deepstacked broiler litter 10 : bakery by-product 22.5 barley bran 22.5. In conclusion, FWM rotary drum-pasteurized and cured had a satisfactory feed-nutritional value far growing pigs.
Celluose is an insoluble substrate, therefore, a proper mixing of the cellulose suspension is essential for an effective enzymatic hydrolysis. To study the effect of mixing motion of various enzyme reactors on enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose, three distinct types of biroreator: vertical impeller type bioreator(VITB), horizontal paddle type bioreactor(HPTB), and tumbling drum type bioreactor(TDTB), were assembled and their performance was compared. The optimal agitation speed was 100rpm for VITB and HPTB, 200rpm for TDTB. The saccharification efficiency of each reactor was compared under the optimal agitation intensity. The highest degree of saccharification was achieved in the case of VITB, especially, at high cellulose concentration. The VITB seems to be the most suitable type of bioreactor that can maintain proper mixing pattern for effective enzyme reaction. In the view of energy consumption, the TDTB showed the lowest value: however, the energy consumption was rapidly increased at high concentration of celluose. To dertermine the most suitable type of bioreactor, the entire process, including substrate cost, substrate concentration, and feasibility of scale-up, needs to be evaluated.
Recently, needs and interests that people want to create their digital contents in ubiquitous environment are growing fast. Among the digital contents, people are also interested in the music contents. However, it is hard to find a system which manages and shares music contents easily. The paper proposes a system that provides a composition function for music, a mixing function for music, and a function for ear training. The contributions of the paper are as follows. First, the paper provides a music management system which enables music compositions, listening function of music, searching functionalities. Second, the paper introduces a function of mixing drum sound for managing rhythms. Third, the paper provides game contents which improve senses of music. Process gas piping is one of the most basic components frequently used in the refinery and petrochemical plants. Many kinds of by-product gas have been used as fuel in the process plants. In some plants, natural gas is additionally introduced and mixed with the byproduct gas for upgrading the fuel. In this case, safety or design margin of the changed piping system of the plant should be re-evaluated based on a proper design code such as ASME or API codes since internal pressure, temperature and gas compositions are different from the original plant design conditions. In this study, series of piping stress analysis were conducted for a process piping used for transporting the mixed gas of the by-product gas and the natural gas from a mixing drum to a knock-out drum in a refinery plant. The analysed piping section had been actually installed in a domestic industry and needed safety audit since the design condition was changed. Pipe locations of the maximum system stress and displacement were determined, which can be candidate inspection and safety monitoring points during the upcoming operation period. For studying the effects of outside air temperature to safety the additional stress analysis were conducted for various temperatures in $0{\sim}30^{\circ}C$. Effects of the friction coefficient between the pipe and support were also investigated showing a proper choice if the friction coefficient is important. The maximum system stresses were occurred mainly at elbow, tee and support locations, which shows the thermal load contributes considerably to the system stress rather than the internal pressure or the gravity loads.

This study is focused on the debarking and xylem separation yield of Paper Mulberry. We investigated the most efficient manual on the automatic debarking and xylem separator machine. The bast tissues of Paper Mulberry were separated in three layers including black outer layer, green inner layer, and white inner layer. A target is to save the white inner layer of these three layers as much as possible. The experimental machine most characterize xylem separation and debarking by frictional force between the bulges and Paper Mulberry by the drum rotation. It is possible automatically to operate the machine by controlling the temperature sensor and the time. Debarking process can be know that removed black outer layer has beem accumulate and measured the weight. The content of the extract, holocellulose, lignin and ashes of the white inner layer was analyzed. It is result that conditions of optimum process of the experimental machine is 45 RPM, temperature at $60^{\circ}C$(60 min.) and $80^{\circ}C$(60 min.), mixing bulge of 10 mm(120ea) and 30 mm(120ea) and capacity of Paper Mulberry 10 kg.
