  • In whole world consciousness of environment maintenance have increased very quickly for the end of the 20th century. To use and disuse toxic substances have been controled at the field of industry. Also the field of lighting source belong to environmental control. And in the future the control will be strong. In radiational mechanism of fluorescence lamp mercury is the worst environmental problem and root. In the mercury free lighting source system the Xe gas lamp is one type. And the Ne:Xe and Ne:Ar mixed gas lamp improve firing voltage of Xe gas lamp. Purpose of this study is to understand ideal mixing-ratio of Ne:Xe and Ne:Ar gas by electron temperature and electron density for mercury free lamp. Before ICP was designed, basic parameters of plasma, which are electron temperature and electron density, were measured and calculated by single-Langmuir probe. Property of electron temperature and electron density were confirmed by changing ratio of Ne:Xe and Ne:Ar.

WC/Co 초경 스크랩 산화물의 고체탄소에 의한 환원/침탄 (Carbothermal Reduction of Oxide Powder Prepared from Waste WC/Co Hardmetal by Solid Carbon)

  • In the present study, the focus is on the analysis of carbothermal reduction of oxide powder prepared from waste WC/Co hardmetal by solid carbon under a stream of argon for the recycling of the WC/Co hard-metal. The oxide powder was prepared by the combination of the oxidation and crushing processes using the waste $WC-8 wt.\%Co$ hardmetal as the raw material. This oxide powder was mixed with carbon black, and then this mixture was carbothermally reduced under a flowing argon atmosphere. The changes in the phase structure and gases discharge of the mixture during carbothermal reduction was analysed using XRD and gas analyzer. The oxide powder prepared from waste $WC-8wt.\%Co$ hardmetal has a mixture of $WO_{3} and CoWO_{4}$. This oxide powder reduced at about $850^{\circ}C$, formed tungsten carbides at about $950^{\circ}C$, and then fully transformed to a mixed state of tungsten carbide (WC) and cobalt at about $1100^{\circ}C$ by solid carbon under a stream of argon. The WC/Co composite powder synthesized at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 6 hours from oxide powder of waste $WC-8wt.\%Co$ hardmetal has an average particle size of $0.3 {\mu}m$.

메탄-산소 혼합가스 조건에서의 페롭스카이트계 산화물의 촉매특성 평가 (Catalytic Characteristics of Perovskite-type Oxides under Mixed Methane and Oxygen Gases)

  • As the single chamber SOFC(SC-SOFC) showed higher prospect on reducing the operation temperature as well as offering higher design flexibility of SOFCs, lots of concerns have been given to investigate the catalytic activity of perovskite-type oxide in mixed fuel and oxidant conditions. Hence we thoroughly investigated the catalytic property of various perovskite-type oxides such as $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}MnO_3(LSM),\;La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}CoO_3(LSC),\;La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Co_{0.2}Fe_{0.8}O_3(LSCF),\;Sm_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CoO_3(SSC),\;and\;Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}Co_{0.8}Fe_{0.2}(BSCF)$ under the partial oxidation condition of methane which used to be given for SC-SOFC operation. In this study, powder form of each perovskite oxides whose surface areas were controlled to be equal, were investigated as functions of methane to oxygen ratios and reactor temperature. XRD, BET and SEM were employed to characterize the crystalline phase, surface area and microstructure of prepared powders before and after the catalytic oxidation. According to the gas phase analysis with flow-through type reactor and gas chromatography system, LSC, SSC, and LSCF showed higher catalytic activity at fairly lower temperature around $400^{\circ}C{\sim}450^{\circ}C$ whereas LSM and BSCF could be activated at much higher temperature above $600^{\circ}C$.

엔진 예혼합실의 소기 특성에 대한 이론 및 수치해석적 연구 (Theoretical and Numerical Study on Scavenge Characteristics from a prechamber for use in an engine)

  • In this paper, we present the theoretical and numerical results of scavenge characteristics in a small prechamber of an HCCI(Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition) engine. Two theoretical models are proposed in prediction of the scavenge time and the efficiency ; one is the non-mixing models in which it is assumed that the input gas($CH_{4}$) and the existing gas(air) do not mix with each other, and the other is the fully-mixed model in which the two gases are assumed to mix completely before ejecting to the ambient air. Focus is also given to the effect on the scavenge performance of the size of the chamber oulet.

  • In this paper, the effects of oxygen component in blended fuel on the exhaust emissions have been investigated far direct injection diesel engine. It was tested to estimate change of engine performance and exhaust emission characteristics for th? commercial diesel fuel and oxygenated blended fuels which have three kinds of fuels and various mixed rates. And, it was tried to analyze not only total hydrocarbon but individual hydrocarbons(C$_1$∼ C$\_$6/) in exhaust gases using gas chromatography to seek the reason far remarkable reduction of smoke emission on various oxygenated fuels. This study carried out by comparing the chromatogram with diesel fuel and diesel fuel blended DGM(diethylene glycol dimethyl ether), MTBE(methyl tart-butyl ether) and EGBE(ethylene glycol mono-n-butyl ether). The results of this study show that individual hydrocarbons as well as total hydrocarbon of oxygenated fuel are reduced remarkably compared with commercial diesel fuel.

  • For quantitative understanding of gas discharge phenomena, we should know electron collision cross section. Processing plasma etching of semiconductor, and research are being used in the etching source $C_4F_6$ gas may be used by itself and mixed with other gases are also used. However, the molecular gas $C_4F_6$ study on the characteristics of the electron transport and the cross-sectional area of the decision is still lacking. Therefore, we understand the electron transport characteristics and analysed the electron transport coefficients. And to understand and interpret physical properties of the ionization coefficient ${\alpha}$/N, and the attachment coefficient ${\eta}$/N in $C_4F_6$ gas.

귀금속촉매 (Pt, Pd)를 이용한 일산화탄소 산화반응에 관한 연구 (A Study of Carbon Monoxide Oxidation on Pt & Pt-Pd Catalysts)

  • This study is concerned with the oxidation of carbon monoxide on platinum and platinum-palladium catalysts. Catalysts were made by the impregnation method and flow reactor was used in the catalytic reaction. As for the mixed gases, carbon monoxide concentration varied from 1 to 4% and that of oxygen from 1 to 4%. $N_2$ was used as carrier gas and GHSV varied from 24, 000 $h^{-1} to 60, h^{-1}$. The temperature range was from 200 to $600^\circ$C. It was also taken into consideration that the heat and mass transfer resistance of our catalysts was negligible in the study. Experimental results showed that platinum-palladium catalyst was about 1.5-3.9% superior to platinum catalyst in conversion yield. When we used platinum-palladium catalyst, we observed that carbon monoxide oxidation was found to be 1 st order with respect to carbon monoxide concentration. Activation energy of the catalyst was 23.5 kcal/mol.

Microbacterium esteraromaticum CS3-1의 toluene 분해능에 미치는 benzene, ethylbenzene, xylene의 영향

  • Toluene-degrading bacterium, Microbacterium esteraromaticum CS3-1 was isolated from the biofilter for the removal of BTEX. Microbacterium esteraromaticum CS3-1 was shown to utilize toluene as a primary carbon and energy source. Effect of mixed BTEX gases on toluene degradation rate by M. esteraromaticum CS3-1 was investigated in this study. Toluene degradation rate was 2.26(only toluene), 2.06(toluene+benzene), 2.57(toluene+ethylbenzene), and 4.74(toluene+xylene) mmole $toluene\;{\cdot}\;g-DCW^{-1}\;{\cdot}\;h^{-1}$. Toluene degradation rate was 2.26(only toluene), 1.23(toluene+benzene+ethylbenzene), 1.52 (toluene+ethylbenzene+xylene), and 1.76(toluene+benzene+ethylbenzene+xylene) mmole $toluene\;{\cdot}\;g-DCW^{-1}\;{\cdot}\;h^{-1}$. The presence of BTEX compounds over three mixtures had a negative effect on toluene degradation rate. Toluene degradation rates were enhanced by the presence of ethylbenzene or xylene, whereas the presence of benzene had a negative effect on toluene degradation rate in comparison with toluene degradation rate when only toluene is existent.

레이저 CVD를 이용한 GaAs/GaAs 및 GaAs/Si 결정성장연구 (Epitaxial Growth of GaAs/GaAs and GaAs/Si by LCVD)

  • We studied the epitaxial growth of GaAs/GaAs and GaAs/Si by Laser CVD with 193nm ArF pulsed excimer laser. The source gases of TMGa and AsC13 or TMGa-TMAs adducts are mixed with H2, and photolyzed above the substrate which is heated up to around 300$^{\circ}C$. Then the photolyzed atoms are deposited on the silicon or GaAs substrate. The deposited films are analyzed with ESKA depth profiling and X-ray differaction method, which shows that the films on Si and GaAs are stoichiometric and crystalized at such a low temperature. We show a clear evidence for the epitaxial growth of GaAs on Si or GaAs on GaAs at low temperature by excimer laser CVD.
