  • As the large Coolant amount used of a machine holds mass serious trouble recently, an environment pollution is increased, and a machine is conquering large specific gravity in an empty cost plane. It is the stage that must reexamine the parts washing that processing is later with this current way or a problem of a liquid waste treatment back. The environmental problems by using coolant demanded the new cooling methods. As one of them, the studies on the grinding with compressed cold air and oil mist have been done. The cooling method using compressed cold air was effective through going down the temperature of compressed air supplied below -$25^{\circ}C$ and increasing the amount of compressed cold air, but had not enough cooling effect due to the low performance of lubrication. Therefore, the cooling methods using oil mist newly were suggested. This method can satisfy both cooling effect and lubrication with only small amount of coolant, also have the benefit in the point of decreasing the environmental pollution. This paper focused on analyzing the grinding characteristics of the cooling method using oil mist. The grinding test according to compressed cold air and oil mist supply direction were done.

  • Inertial impaction type mist eliminators are the most effective instruments to separate mist from the gas. In this work, the effect of the horizontal chevron type mist eliminators is characterized experimentally. Droplet size distribution and evaluation of removal efficiency of the chevron type mist eliminators at different gas flows were investigated using an aerosol particle size analyzer and a portable aerosol spectrometer, respectively. The experimental investigations showed that the mist removal efficiency in these instruments is dependent in the droplet size, and the pressure drop is nil.

  • 미분무 소화시스템을 이용하여 철도차량 내부 화재진압 실험을 수행하였다. 실험차량은 실물 철도차량이며, 화재시나리오는 표면화재 1종, 유류화재 1종, 그리고 미분무 소화시스템에 의한 화재 공간 내의 공간 냉각 능력을 조사하기 위한 차폐화재 1종 등 총 3종이었다. 실험에 사용된 소화시스템은 6종으로, 일정압력을 가지는 소화시스템 5종, 질소가압 압력용기로부터 분사되는 소화시스템 1종이다. 실험 결과 미분무 소화시스템이 철도 차량 내부의 화재를 효과적으로 소화시키거나, 소화가 되지 않더라도 우수한 공간 냉각 능력으로 화재 피해를 최소화할 수 있음을 알았다.

  • 본 연구에서는 미분무수 노즐을 이용하여 설치높이 변화에 따른 3종의 포 소화 약제를 각각 혼합하여 소화성능 실험을 수행하였다. 소화성능 실험 결과 순수한 물과 기존의 3%형 수성막포를 사용한 경우보다는 2%형 미분무수 전용 수성막포와 1%형 합성계면활성제포가 더욱 빠른 소화시간을 나타내었다. 또한, 순수한 물만을 사용한 경우에는 3.5m, 포 소화 약제를 사용하였을 때에는 4m의 설치높이에서 가장 좋은 소화효과 나타내었다.

  • 특수선(FPSO, Drillship)의 거주구역이나, 대형 여객선(크루즈선) 공간의 70% 이상을 차지하는 수용시설(accommodation), 공공장소, 서비스 구역 등은 24시간 사람이 상주하는 구역임으로 화재로부터 안전하게 보호되어야 한다. 이를 위해 국제해사기구(IMO)에서는 SOLAS II-2 Reg. 10.6과 FSS code Ch. 7에 적합한 미분무 소화설비를 설치할 것을 강제화하고 있다. 이러한 미분무 소화설비는 미분무 노즐, 압력용기, 섹션밸브, 펌프유닛 등으로 구성되는데 특히 핵심부품인 미분무 노즐은 최근에 개정된 IMO Res. MSC 265(84)에 따라 노즐성능시험 및 화재진압성능시험을 통해 선급인증을 득해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 기준을 만족하는 폐쇄형 미분무 노즐을 개발하고 선실 및 복도, 공공장소, 창고에 대한 화재시험을 통해 각 장소에 적용 가능한 총 5종의 미분무노즐의 성능평가를 실시하였다.

금속가공유 취급 근로자의 다핵방향족탄화수소 노출 평가 (Exposure assessment of Polynuclear aromatichydrocarbons(PAHs) for heat treat workers using Metalworking fluids)

  • The purpose of this study was to assess the ambient level of Polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs), oil mist of the metalworking fluids(MWFs), especially in heat treat industry and non heat treat industry. And we assessed the relationship of the pattern of exposed PAHs with oil mist during survey day. The study population of heat treat industries contained 98 workers, non-heat treat industry contained 40 workers. Personal samples were taken for ambient monitoring of PAHs and oil mist. PAHs was to analyze the relationship of airborne oil mist. The geometric mean of airborne total PAHs was $3.44{\mu}g/m^3$ in heat treat industry and $0.13{\mu}g/m^3$ in non heat treat industry, Pyrene and Benzo(a)pyrene was detected from heat treat industry and Naphthalene in heat treat industry was significantly detected higher than in non heat treat industry. The geometric mean of airborne oil mist was $0.19{\mu}g/m^3$ in heat treat industry and $0.70{\mu}g/m^3$ in non-heat treat industry. The correlation between oil mist and total PAHs was shown below, total PAHs in workers of non heat treat industry and heat treat industry were not significantly correlated with oil mist

고온 실린더의 미스트 냉각 (Mist Cooling of High-Temperature Cylinder Surface)

  • Heat treatment such as quenching of a high-temperature cylinder is being used on steel to produce high strength levels. Especially, the mist cooling with the high and uniform surface heat flux rate s expected to contribute for better products. The experimental mist cooling curve is produced for better understanding, and two distinct heat transfer regions are recognized from the cooling curve produced. It is shown that the liquid film evaporation dominated region follows the film boiling-dominated region as decreasing the temperature of test cylinder by mist flow. Based on the intuitive view from some previous investigations, a simplified model with some assumptions is introduced to explain the mist cooling curve, and it is shown that the estimation agrees well with our experimental data. In the meanwhile, it is known that the wetting temperature, at which surface heat flux rate is a maximum, increases with mass flow rate ratio of water to air ($\varkappa$ < 10). However, based on our experimental data, it is explained that there exists a critical mass flow rate ratio, at which the wetting temperature is maximum, in the range of 3 < $\varkappa$ < 130. Also, it is described that despite of the same value of $\varkappa$, the wetting temperature may increase with mist velocity.

원심력 필터 재생기능을 갖춘 오일 미스트 여과 집진장치 개발 (Development of an Oil Mist Collector Equipped with Centrifugal De-oiling System)

  • Health effects associated with metal working fluid (MWF) exposures include dermatitis, respiratory disease, hypersensitive pneumonitis, and asthma. Frequently, occupational exposures to MWFs are controlled by ventilating an enclosure with an air cleaning unit that includes a fan preceded by various kinds of filtration. There are several kinds of air cleaning units used in machining centers. But the associated troubles have hindered from efficiently using these devices. The main problem is the relatively short period of filter replacement. The reason is that the air cleaning units usually do not have the de-oiling systems, thus leading the earlier clogging of filters and reducing the flow rate of hood. Thus, the first stage of study was conducted to overcome this problem by developing the new oil mist collector equipped with the easy de-oiling system. The principle of de-oiling is that the centrifugal force generated by spinning the drum covered by filter fabric separates oils from the filter fabric. It would be very similar to the spin-dry laundry. By adopting this de-oiling technique, the problems associated with the conventional oil mist collectors could be solved. Several tests/analyses were performed to make the lab-scale oil mist collector. The collection efficiencies and the de-oiling efficiencies of commercially available filter fabrics were tested. Subsequently, the endurance test were conducted by observing SEM photos of filter fabrics and measuring tensile strength/expansion coefficient after spinning the filter drum for 20 minutes at the different rotation speeds. By doing these experiments, the most appropriate filter fabric and rotation speed/duration were selected. Finally, the new oil mist collector was designed. In the near future, this device must be tested in the real machining center.

미세물분무 작동에 대한 FDS 예측 성능 평가 (Estimation of FDS Prediction Performance on the Operation of Water-Mist)

  • 본 논문은 미세물분무 작동에 따른 화재 거동 및 제압 특성을 예측하는 데 있어서 FDS(Fire Dynamic Simulator)의 예측 성능을 평가하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 미세물분무의 초기액적분포 입력을 위해 Rosin-Rammler /log-normal 분포를 사용하였으며 모델 상수의 영향을 살펴보았다. 또한 미세물분무의 분사압력에 따른 화재 제압특성을 이전의 실험 결과와 비교함으로써 해석 모델을 검증하고 열유동 특성 및 가스 농도 변화를 분석하였다. 결과로부터 동일한 평균입경을 갖는 미세물분무도 액적분포의 특성에 따라 하부 위치에서의 액적 크기 및 속도에 큰 영향을 받고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 분무특성에 대한 실험결과와의 비교를 통해 적절한 초기입경분포를 결정하였으며 이를 이용하여 화재 시뮬레이션을 진행하였다. FDS 화재 시뮬레이션 결과는 온도의 변화 및 화재 제압 특성에 대하여 실험 결과와 좋은 일치를 보여주었다. 또한 미세물분무의 작동압력에 따른 열유동장 변화, 가스상 농도 변화의 예측에 있어 유용한 데이터를 제공할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

T-GDI 엔진의 속도 및 하중이 블로우바이 가스의 오일입자 크기와 오일분리기 성능에 미치는 영향에 대한 실험 및 수치적 연구 (Experimental and Numerical Investigation of the Effect of Load and Speed of T-GDI Engine on the Particle Size of Blow-by Gas and Performance of Oil Mist Separator)

  • The worldwide focus on reducing the emissions, fuel and lubricant consumption in T-GDI engines is leading engineers to consider the crankcase ventilation and oil mist separation system as an important means of control. In today's passenger cars, the oil mist separation systems mainly use the inertia effect (e.g. labyrinth, cyclone etc.). Therefore, this study has investigated high efficiency cylinder head-integrated oil-mist separator by using a compact multi-impactor type oil mist separator system to ensure adequate oil mist separation performance. For this purpose, engine dynamometer testing with oil particle efficiency measurement equipment and 3D two-phase flow simulation have been performed for various engine operating conditions. Tests with an actual engine on a dynamometer showed oil aerosol particle size distributions varied depending on operating conditions. For instance, high rpm and load increases bot only blow-by gases but the amount of small size oil droplets. Submicron-sized particles (less than 0.5 ㎛) were also observed. It is also found that the impactor type separator is able to separate nearly no droplets of diameter lower than 3 ㎛. CFD results showed that the complex aerodynamics processes that lead to strong impingement and break-up can strip out large droplets and generate more small size droplets.
