Recent years, mirror therapy or mirror neuron therapy has been used to improve neural damage of upper extremities among stroke patients. This systematic review was conducted to assess the clinical effect of mirror therapy used for the treatment of upper extremities for patients with stroke. After literature search, researchers selected for 9 randomized controlled clinical trial studies registered up to October 2013 based on PubMed database, using the following search terms: mirror therapy, mirror neuron, stroke, paresis, hemiplegia, upper extremity. There were significant improves of distal upper extremity function in the use of mirror therapy groups but the research using range of motion(ROM) as outcome measure. In conclusion, mirror therapy was more effective than conventional therapies or sham therapies for upper recovery of distal upper extremity function among stroke patients.

PURPOSE : The purpose of this study was to identify whether 3D motion input device based mirror therapy could improve on upper extremity function, quality of life and depression in chronic stroke patients METHOD : Thirty six patients with chronic stroke were enrolled and randomly divided into three groups: 3D leapmotion mirror therapy group, mirror therapy group, and sham therapy group. 3D leapmotion mirror therapy group performed 3D motion input device based mirror therapy, mirror therapy group performed general mirror therapy, control group performed sham therapy. All patients received a total of 15 exercise session over a 5 week period (three times per week). Fugl-Meyer Assessment-upper extremity(FMA-UE), Stroke Specific-Quality of Life(SS-QOL), Beck Depression Inventory(BDI) were performed prior to and five weeks after the treatment RESULT : Subjects in the 3D leapmotion mirror therapy group showed significant improvements in upper extremity function, quality of life and depression following training. The changes of upper extremity function, quality of life and depression in the 3D leapmotion mirror therapy group were significantly more than them of the control group. CONCLUSION : The result of this study suggest that 3D motion input device based mirror therapy is an intervention to improve on upper extremity function, quality of life and depression in chronic stroke patients.
In order to investigate the vortex body frame interaction around the side mirror of a passenger car, velocity vector fields in the wake, pressure distributions and boundary layer flows over both the mirror surface and the mirror housing, have been measured by several experimental tools. It was resulted that only within an half downstream distance of the mirror span there appears the recirculation zone, and also found that vortex trail towards to the driver side window between A and B pillars, making the acoustic noise and vibration. Wake vortex rolls up after this recirculating zone and makes the trail of the vortex center towards the driver side window, which was also confirmed by measurements of wake velocity vectors in the vertical sections of the trail and visualization over the side mirror surfaces as well. It was also observed that total pressure distribution over the mirror surface has the minimum peak near the lower tip region which can be considered as the origin of the vortex center. It can be concluded that the geometrical modification of the lower tip and the upper root area of the mirror housing is the key to control the wake vortex.

This paper describes and automatic mirror adjustment system that rotates a pair of side mirrors and the room mirror of a car to the optimal position for a driver by using the locating of the driver\`s pupils. A stereo vision system measures 3D coordinates of a pair pupils by analyzing the input images of stereo B/W CCD cameras mounted on the instrument panel. this system determines the position angle of each mir-ror on the basis of information about the location of the pupils and rotates each mirror to the appropriate po-sition by mirror actuators. The vision system can detect the driver\`s pupils regardless of whether it is day-time or nighttime by virtue of an infrared light source. information about the pair of nostrils in used to im- prove the correctness of pupil detection. This system can adjust side mirrors and the room mirror automati- cally and rapidly by a simple interface regardless of driver replacement of driver\`s posture. Experiment has shown this to be a new mirror adjustment system that can make up for the weak points of previous mirror adjustment systems.

A large area micro mirror is an optical element that functions as changing an optical path by reflection in integrated optical system. We fabricated the large area silicon mirror by anisotropic etching using MEMS for implementation of integrated optical pickup. In this work, we report the optimum conditions to better fabricate and design, greatly improve mirror surface quality. To obtain mirror surface of $45^{\circ},\;9.74^{\circ}$ off-axis silicon wafer from (100) plane was used in etching condition of $80^{\circ}C$ with 40wt.% KOH solution. After wet etching, polishing process by MR fluid was applied to mirror surface for reduction of roughness. In the next step, after polymer coating on the polished Si wafer, the Si mirror was fabricated by UV curing using a trapezoid bar-type way structure. Finally, we obtained peak to valley roughness about 50 nm in large area of $mm^2$ and it is applicable to optical pickup using blu-ray wavelength as well as infrared wavelength.
Monocrystalline silicon has excellent properties, but it is difficult to design and manufacture silicon-based mirrors that can meet engineering applications because of its hard and brittle properties. This paper used monocrystalline silicon as the main mirror material in an imaging system to carry out a feasibility study. The lightweight design of the mirror is completed by the method of center support and edge cutting. The support structure of the mirror was designed to meet the conditions of wide temperature applications. Isight software was used to optimize the feasibility sample, and the optimized results are that the root mean square error of the mirror surface is 3.6 nm, the rigid body displacement of the mirror is 2.1 ㎛, and the angular displacement is 2.5" under the conditions of a temperature of ∆20 ℃ and a gravity load of 1 g. The optimized result show that the silicon-based mirror developed in this paper can meet the requirements of engineering applications. This research on silicon-based mirrors can provide guidance for the application of other silicon-based mirrors.
The starting point of this discussion resides in the 'eyes' of mirror in a sense of seeing the self reflected in a mirror. The meaning of mirror has been evolved over the centuries while strengthening its sense of identity by bringing up some questions for resemblance, reproduction, self-reflection and reality. A mirror has also extended its vision and provided with a range of images that the self can't have. In this regard, looking into a mirror has been a sustained focus of attention by creating another ostensible being of self-image. This shows the two sides of mirror, which reveals an ambiguous gap between substance and illusion. An excessive immersion in a reflected image in a mirror is intensified and expressed today. The eyes of mirror consisting of a complex dual structure show relations between a person who sees and a person who is seen, which draws a hazy line of demarcation between the subject and the object. This opens up the possibility of the world of chiasme, where you could face all the aspects being from the eyes of others. Furthermore, the meaning of the reflection in a mirror has formed a creative discourse as an enigmatic medium that creates a variety of 'eyes' in various forms of aesthetic expression like paintings and literature. I accordingly suggest that the 'eyes of mirror' is the ambiguous 'eyes of human being' reflected in two territories of the world. Therefore, I will present the historical development of the perspective on the mirror to take a concrete approach in which it opens up the reflective structure of resemblance through a series of examples projected onto the literary and artistic productions. This study will serve as ruminations on the fact that your life is being existent in 'chiasme' of mutual entanglement between the self and the world by investigating relations between a person who sees and a person who is seen, in other words, relations between the perceiving subject and the eyes of others reflected in a mirror.
This paper describes about the simulation and the experimental results of optical cavity with curved mirror surface and vertical mirror surface to improve the light intensity and efficiency of the optical sensors. When we use the vertical mirror surface, the distribution of light reached to the filter surface of detector shows an elliptical shape. Whereas, the curved mirror surface focuses the light into circular shape. Therefore, due to focusing effects in case of using curved mirror surface, the light intensity per unit area has been improved. Consequently, the output voltage of gas sensor has been expected to increase. Based upon the simulation, the experiment of gas sensor has been conducted with $CO_2$ gas from 0ppm to 2,500 ppm at 250 ppm step and $25^{\circ}C$, 45%R.H. ambient. The output voltage of gas sensor that has a curved mirror surface increases approximately 200 mV than that of vertical mirror surface.
