A Study on Pitch Period Detection Algorithm Based on Rotation Transform of AMDF and Threshold

  • As a lot of researches on the speech signal processing are performed due to the recent rapid development of the information-communication technology. the pitch period is used as an important element to various speech signal application fields such as the speech recognition. speaker identification. speech analysis. or speech synthesis. A variety of algorithms for the time and the frequency domains related with such pitch period detection have been suggested. One of the pitch detection algorithms for the time domain. AMDF (average magnitude difference function) uses distance between two valley points as the calculated pitch period. However, it has a problem that the algorithm becomes complex in selecting the valley points for the pitch period detection. Therefore, in this paper we proposed the modified AMDF(M-AMDF) algorithm which recognizes the entire minimum valley points as the pitch period of the speech signal by using the rotation transform of AMDF. In addition, a threshold is set to the beginning portion of speech so that it can be used as the selection criteria for the pitch period. Moreover the proposed algorithm is compared with the conventional ones by means of the simulation, and presents better properties than others.

A Signal Detection of Minimum Variance Algorithm on Linear Constraints

  • We propose a method for removing interference and noise to estimate target information. In wireless channels, information signals are subject to interference and noise, making it is difficult to accurately estimate the desired signal. To estimate the desired information signal, it is essential to remove the noise and interference from the received signal, extracting only the desired signal. If the received signal noise and interference are not removed, the estimated information signal will have a large error in distance and direction, and the exact location of the target cannot be estimated. This study aims to accurately estimate the desired target in space. The objective is to achieve more presice target estimation than existing methods and enhance target resolution.An estimation method is proposed to improve the accuracy of target estimation. The proposed target estimation method obtains optimal weights using linear constraints and the minimum variance method. Through simulation, the performance of the proposed method and the existing method is analyzed. The proposed method successfully estimated all four targets, while the existing method only estimated two targets. The results show that the proposed method has better resolutiopn and superior estimation capability than the existing method.

Robust Estimation Algorithm for Switching Signal and State of Discrete-time Switched Linear Systems (이산 시간 선형 스위치드 시스템의 스위칭 신호 및 상태에 대한 강인한 추정 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we present robust estimation and detection algorithms for discrete-time switched linear systems whose output measurements are corrupted by noises. First, a mode estimation algorithm is proposed based on the minimum distance criterion. Then, state variables are also observed under the active mode estimate. Second, a detection algorithm is constructed to detect the mode switching of the switched system. With the boundedness of measurement noise, the proposed estimation algorithm returns the exact active mode and approximate state information of the switched system. In addition, the detection algorithm can detect the switching time within a pre-determined time interval after the actual switching occurred.

  • Medical imaging is one of the most powerful tools for gaining information about internal organs and tissues. It is a challenging task to develop sophisticated image analysis methods in order to improve the accuracy of diagnosis. The objective of this paper is to develop a Computer Aided Diagnostics (CAD) scheme for Brain Tumour detection from Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) using active contour models and to investigate with several approaches for improving CAD performances. The problem in clinical medicine is the automatic detection of brain Tumours with maximum accuracy and in less time. This work involves the following steps: i) Segmentation performed by Fuzzy Clustering with Level Set Method (FCMLSM) and performance is compared with snake models based on Balloon force and Gradient Vector Force (GVF), Distance Regularized Level Set Method (DRLSE). ii) Feature extraction done by Shape and Texture based features. iii) Brain Tumour detection performed by various tree classifiers. Based on investigation FCMLSM is well suited segmentation method and Random Forest is the most optimum classifier for this problem. This method gives accuracy of 97% and with minimum classification error. The time taken to detect Tumour is approximately 2 mins for an examination (30 slices).

Development of a Detection and Recognition System for Rectangular Marker (사각형 마커 검출 및 인식 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, we present a method for the detection and recognition of rectangular markers from a camera image. It converts the camera image to a binary image and extracts contours of objects in the binary image. After that. it approximates the contours to a list of line segments. It finds rectangular markers by using geometrical features which are extracted from the approximated line segments. It normalizes the shape of extracted markers into exact squares by using the warping technique. It extracts feature vectors from marker image by using principal component analysis. It then calculates the distance between feature vector of input marker image and those of standard markers. Finally, it recognizes the marker by using minimum distance method. Experimental results show that the Proposed method achieves 98% recognition rate at maximum for 50 markers and execution speed of 11.1 frames/sec for images which contains eleven markers.

  • The purpose of the thermal imaging observation device mounted on the K's tank in the Republic of Korea military is to convert infrared rays into visual information to provide information about the environment under conditions of restricted visibility. Among the various performance indicators of thermal observation devices, such as the view, magnification, resolution, MTF, NETD, and Minimum Resolvable Temperature Difference (MRTD), the MRTD is the most important, because it can indicate both the spatial frequency and temperature resolvable. However, the standard method of measuring the MRTD in NATO contains many subjective factors. As the measurement result can vary depending on subjective factors such as the human eye, metal condition and measurement conditions, the MRTD obtained is not stable. In this study, these qualitative MRTD measurement systems are converted into quantitative indicators based on a gray scale using imaging processing. By converting the average of the gray scale differences of the black and white images into the MRTD, the mean values can be used to determine whether the performance requirements required by the defense specification are met. The (mean) value can also be used to discriminate between detection, recognition and identification and the detectable distance of the thermal equipment can be analyzed under various environmental conditions, such as altostratus, heavy rain and fog.

A Modified BCH Code with Synchronization Capability (동기 능력을 보유한 변형된 BCH 부호)

  • A new code and its decoding scheme are proposed. With this code, we can correct and detect the errors in communication systems. To limit the runlength of data 0 and augment the minimum density of data 1, a (15, 7) BCH code is modified and an overall parity bit is added. The proposed code is a (16, 7) block code which has the bit clock signal regeneration capability and high error control capability. It is proved that the runlength of data 0 is less than or equal to 7, the density of data 1 is greater than or equal to 1/8, and the minimum Hamming distance is 6. The decoding error probability, the error detection probability and the correct decoding probability are presented for the proposed code. It is shown that the proposed code has better error control capability than the conventional schemes.

  • The mutilevel holographic data storage offers considerable advantage for capacity, since it can store more than one bit per pixel. In this paper, we search the number of codewords for each code depending on three conditions: (1) the number of levels, (2) the number of pixels in a codeword, and (3) the minimum Euclidean distance of a code. Increasing the number of levels per pixel creates more capacity, while causing more errors, by reducing the noise margin. Increasing the number of pixels in a codeword can increase the code rate, which means more capacity, but increases the complexity of the encoder/decoder of the code. Increasing the minimum distance of a code reduces the detection error, while reducing the code rate of the code. In such a fashion, a system design will always have pros and cons, but our task is to find out an effective one under the given conditions for the system requirements. Therefore, the numbers we searched can provide some guidelines for effective code design.

  • It is difficult to detect the accurate detection which leads the camera it moves follows in change of the noise or illumination and Also, it could be recognized with backgound if the object doesn't move during hours. In this paper, the proposed method is updating changed background image as much as N*M pixel mask as time goes on after get a difference between imput image and first background image. And checking image pixel can efficiently detect moving by computing fixed distance pixel instead of operate all pixel. Also, set up minimum area of object to use boundary point of object abstracted through checking image pixel and motion detect of object. Therefore motion detection is available as is fast and correct without doing checking image pixel every Dame. From experiment, the designed and implemented system showed high precision ratio in performance assessment more than 90 percents.

Energy Saving Potentials of Ventilation Controls Based on Real-time Vehicle Detection in Underground Parking Facilities

  • The main topic of this paper is to show a possibility of indoor air quality enhancement and the fan energy savings in underground parking facilities by applying the demand-controlled ventilation (DCV) strategy based on the real-time variation of the traffic load. The established ventilation rate is estimated by considering the passing distance, CO emission rate, idling time of a vehicle, and the floor area of the parking facility. However, they are hard to be integrated into the real-time DCV control. As a solution to this problem, the minimum ventilation rate per a single vehicle is derived in this research based on the actual ventilation data acquired from several existing underground parking facilities. And then its applicability to the DCV based on the real-time variation of the traffic load is verified by simulating the real-time carbon monoxide concentration variation. The energy saving potentials of the proposed DCV strategy is also checked by comparing it with those for the current underground parking facility ventilation systems found in the open literature.
