광통신용 광 결합기의 모드 전송선로 해석법 (Modal Transmission-Line Theoy of Planar Optical Couplers in Optical Communication)

  • Modal transmission-line is utilized to analyze the power coupling of optical directional coupler composed by two parallel guiding slabs. By defining a coupling efficiency .eta. amenable to rigorous supermodes and boundary conditions of modal functions, we evaluate the power transfer for TE mode of gainy coupler. The results reveal that optimized power exchange occurs at a novel wavelength .lambda.$_{op}$ , which is generally different from minimum gap .lambda.$_{min}$ between rigorous modes and phase-matching condition .lambda.$_{ph}$ .

수중 운동체의 운동 특성을 고려한 입/출력 제어기 구성에 관한 고찰 (A Study on an Input-Output Controller Based on the Time-Scale Properties of an Underwater Vehicle Dynamics)

  • In this paper, it is shown that an input-output (I/O) feedback linearized controller can be designed rationally by utilizing the time-scale properties of heave and pitch for an underwater vehicle. It is assumed that the dynamics of the vehicle is restricted to the vertical plane. An output-feedback control is designed, which stabilizes steady cruising paths. It is shown that the vehicle dynamics with acceleration as output becomes minimum phase. The dynamics can be transformed into a reduced system through a kind of partial linearization and singular perturbation technique. The reduced system is not only minimum phase but also exactly I/O linearizable via feedback. The I/O dynamic characteristics of the heave and pitch modes can be made linear and decoupled. Furthermore it becomes independent of cruising condition such as vehicle velocity. This study may help for designing autopilot systems for underwater vehicles.

  • The determination of firing order is very significant procedure in initial stage of design for medium speed diesel engine. Generally, the selection of firing order has been accomplished in view of minimum excitation forces condition. In this paper all possible firing orders under the given number of cylinder were considered to decide the optimum. Meanwhile torsional vibration characteristics using the phase vector sum method and minimum excitation force concept were applied. From these results, some superior cases were selected. And then, the torsional vibration response analysis and the resonance characteristics of engine structure were investigated for the final decision.

능동 전력 디커플링 회로의 커패시턴스 최적 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Optimal Design of Capacitance for Active Power Decoupling Circuits)

  • Active power decoupling circuits have emerged to eliminate the inherent second-order ripple power in a single-phase power conversion system. This study proposes a design method to determine the optimal capacitance for active power decoupling circuits to achieve high power density. Minimum capacitance is derived by analyzing ripple power in a passive power decoupling circuit, a buck-type circuit, and a capacitor-split-type circuit. Double-frequency ripple power decoupling capabilities are also analyzed in three decoupling circuits under a 3.3 kW load condition for a battery charger application. To verify the proposed design method, the performance of the three decoupling circuits with the derived minimum capacitance is compared and analyzed through the results of MATLAB -Simulink and hardware-in-the-loop simulations.

n-헥산/p-TSA 수용액계에서 교반에 의한 유기상의 분산 (Dispersion of Organic Phase by Agitation in a n-Hexane/p-TSA Aqueous Solution System)

  • n-헥산과 40 wt % p-TSA 수용액으로 이루어진 비혼화성 액상계에서 교반에 의한 유기상의 분산을 해석하였다. 사용된 교반기는 blade의 형태가 flat와 금망으로 된 4가지 형태의 6-bladed turbine 교반기를 사용하였다. 실험결과, 동일한 교반속도에서 유기상의 분산정도는 blade의 형태가 flat, 60 mesh, 40 mesh, 20 mesh의 순서로 감소하였고 계면활성제인 TBA의 농도가 증가할수록, 그리고 유기상의 부피비가 작을수록 유기상은 잘 분산되었다. 또한 완전분산에 필요한 최소교반속도는 flat, 60 mesh, 40 mesh, 20 mesh의 순서로 증가하였으나 최소소요동력은 거의 동일하였다. 이때 Power number와 Reynolds number와의 관계는 $N_p=a\;N_{Re}{^b}$ 이었으며 교반기의 형태에 따른 상수 a와 혼합계의 종류에 따른 상수 b의 값은 각각 2200~4100, -0.69~-0.63 범위이었다.

고조파제어(HHC) 기법을 이용한 저속 하강 비행중인 로터의 진동하중 억제에 관한 연구 (Vibratory Loads Reduction of a Rotor in Slow Descent using Higher Harmonic Control Technology)

  • 본 연구에서는 능동적인 블레이드 제어기법인 고조파제어(Higher Harmonic Control, HHC) 기법을 적용하여 로터의 허브 진동하중을 억제하기 위한 최적 제어입력을 탐색하였다. 통합 공탄성 해석 프로그램인 CAMRAD II를 이용하여 HART II 로터를 모델링하고 다양한 HHC 입력 조건에 대하여 파라미터 연구를 수행하여 최대의 진동하중을 감소시키기 위한 제어입력을 찾고, HART II 시험에서 정한 최소 진동 조건에서의 허브 진동하중과 비교하였다. 파라미터 연구를 통하여 HART II 시험에서의 최소 진동 조건에서는 진동하중이 증가하는 것을 확인하였다. 허브 진동하중을 감소시키기 위한 최적의 제어입력은 3/rev의 가진주파수에서 찾을 수 있었고 0.8도의 진폭과 350도의 위상각을 갖는 제어입력을 이용하는 경우에 기준조건대비 약 45%의 허브 진동하중 감소효과를 얻었다. HHC 기법을 이용하는 경우의 로터의 파워 감소는 5% 미만으로 나타나고, 성능이 향상되는 경우에는 대부분 진동이 증가하는 경향을 보였다.

  • This paper presents numerical study on dynamic characteristics of evaporator to control evaporator superheat and compressor capacity with optimum condition in refrigeration system. It is very important to reduce energy consumption and to keep room temperature within a very restricted range with minimum oscillation in some special applications of the refrigeration system. Heat exchange is mainly happened in the evaporator. So, making mathematical model of evaporator and analyzing evaporator characteristics are necessary in order to control the superheat and the capacity of the system. A mathematical model based on the one dimensional partial differential equations representing mass and energy conservation and a tube-wall energy is described. A set of ordinary differential equation is formulated by integrating separately over the two regions(two-phase and vapor) generally presented in a heat exchanger.

  • In this paper, Computer Aided Optimum Design Technique for Three-Phase Induction Motors is proposed. In the technique, reference magnetic flux, specific electric loading factor, specific magnetic loading factor(magnetic flux density) and current density are adopted as design parameters, and minimum total cost including material cost and loss power cost is adopted as a objective function which has to satisfy output condition too. As a result of application to the existing motor, it is proved that this technique is very effective in view of gradually increasing energy costs.

  • This paper is proposed an efficiency optimization operation algorithm for synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) using current phase angle control technique. The SynRM has to controlled with the optimal current phase angles with load and operation speed variation, to obtain high efficiency over the wide speed ranges. An efficiency optimization condition in SynRM which minimizes the copper and iron losses is derived based on the equivalent circuit model of the machine. The objective of the efficiency optimization control algorithm compensating the optimum current angle, is to seek a combination of d and q-axis current components which provides minimum losses at a certain operating point in steady state. The usefulness of the proposed efficiency optimization control is verified through vector-controlled inverter system with the SynRM.

The Magnetic and Magnetostrictive Properties of Melt-Spun Ribbons of B Containing Terfenol-D Alloys

  • The magnetic and magnetostrictive properties of melt-spun ribbons of the alloys (R0.33Fe0.67)1-xBx (R=Tb0.3Dy0.7 and 0$\leq$x$\leq$0.06) are ivestigated as a function of wheel speed during melt-quenching. The saturation magnetiation of the alloys with a crystalline phase ranges from 70 to 80 emu/g and does not vary substantially with the B content. The saturation magnetization of an amorphous phase, which is formed at the condition of thigh wheel speed and high B content, is reduced significantly, however. The coercive force is minimum at x= 0.02 and increases monotonously with the further increase of B content when the microstructure mainly consists of a crystalline phase, but again it is reduced significantly by the formation of an amorphous phase. The low field sensitivity of magnetostriction with magnetic field is found to be good for the alloys with x$\leq$0.04 over a wide range of wheel speed. This magnetostrictive behavior is in contrast with that observed previously for Dy-Fe and Tb-Fe based alloys and is thought to be due to low intrinsic magnetocrystalline anisotropy of the compound.
