  • In this study, we constructed a hypertext-based bibliographic information retrieval system, which is very usell tool to browse and retrieve structured data. We minimized the problem of the use; s disorientation with the keyword retrieval technique.   • In this paper, a programming system for robot-based manufacturing cell which can control and simulate manufacturing devices as well as robots in workcell is proposed and developed. The system is based on world model, and modem textual and object-level robot programming language and interactive graphic world modeler are used to construct and exploit world model. Graphic simulation is used as an efficient and easy to use debugging or verifying tool for user written robot programs. Machine dependency is minimized by adopting the hierarchical control structure and by assuming all the workcell components as virtual ones.

  • This paper presents a corrective maintenance model to determine either type of maintenance actions upon failure of the system. Types of maintenance actions considered are minimal repair and replacement. Minimal repair cost is assumed to be random, whereas replacement cost is fixed. A policy, B(t), which determines the type of maintenance action based on the estimated minimal repair cost when the system fails at time t is adopted. To obtain an optimal policy, an expected maintenance cost per unit time is derived and is minimized with respect to B(t).

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop a procedure and a system for the design of manufacturing cells. First, a procedure is developed to create machine cells, to identify part families and to allocate part families to machine cells so that the intercellular movement of part is minimized. Next, a system for solving this procedure is developed and an application example is demonstrated.

  • We consider a vacation system in which the server takes two different types of vacations alternately. We obtain the server idle probability and derive the system size distribution and the waiting time distribution by defining supplementary variables. We show that the decomposition property works for these mixed-vacation queues. We also propose a method directly to obtain the waiting time distribution without resorting to the system equations. The T-policy is revisited and is shown that the cost is minimized when the length of vacations are the same.

  • This paper gives a method for the minimization of the fuel cost by optimal generation. Derivation of the sensitivity of system loss by optimization technique is introduced and the loss sensitivities are substituted into the optimality conditions to obtain the minimized fuel cost.

  • This study analyzes the relative importance of the introducing factors for the critical success factors in the implementation stage of the lifecycle of ERP system using Delphi technique and Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP). In the 1st layer of the hierarchy, technical factor is evaluated as the most important factor among organizational, technical, and supplier factors. In the 2nd layer, choosing a proper ERP package is evaluated as the most important factor within 15 factors followed by process-oriented approach, technical suitability, minimized customization, integration and association of system with trading parter, association with legacy systems, and support and involvement of top management. As a result of this analysis enterprise should choose an ERP package that is suitable to its business environment, and make the best use of(take full advantage of) best practice that ERP package provides to optimize the existing business procedure or process(to approach the existing business procedure or process). This study also shows the range of customization of the features provided by the ERP package should be minimized.

Robust tuning of quadratic criterion-based iterative learning control for linear batch system

  • We propose a robust tuning method of the quadratic criterion based iterative learning control(Q-ILC) algorithm for discrete-time linear batch system. First, we establish the frequency domain representation for batch systems. Next, a robust convergence condition is derived in the frequency domain. Based on this condition, we propose to optimize the weighting matrices such that the upper bound of the robustness measure is minimized. Through numerical simulation, it is shown that the designed learning filter restores robustness under significant model uncertainty.
