  • In any large heavy industry like that of ship building, there exist a lot of complications for the arrangement of building blocks optimally for the minimal space consumption. The major problem arises at yard because of laxity in space for arranging the building blocks of ship under construction. A standardized erection sequence diagram is generally available to provide the prioritised erection sequence. This erection sequence diagram serves as the frame work. In order to make a timely erection of the blocks a post plan has to be developed so that the blocks lie in the nearest possible vicinity of the material handling devices while keeping the priority of erection. Therefore, the blocks are arranged in the pre-erection area. This kind of readiness of blocks leads to a very complex problem of space. This arises due to the least available space leading to an urgent need of an availability of intelligent spatial schedule without compromising the rate of production. There exists two critical problems ahead namely, the spatial occupation layout of pre-erection area and the emptying pattern in the spatial vicinity. The block shape is assumed be rectangular. The related input data's are the dates of erection (earliest as well as the latest), geometrical parameters of block available on pre-erection area, slack time and the like.

  • This study examines the drivers and implementation of intrapreneurship strategy in a property service company. Using a qualitative case study approach, the study interviewed four managers involved in related intrapreneurship initiatives. The data was validated by an expert and a practitioner from a different company. The implementation of the company's intrapreneurship strategy is limited to improving new ways of working and developing products and services. However, business development and the creation of new business models are still limited. From several intrapreneurship driving factors, it was observed that the company practices are considered adequate with regard to top management support, leadership, flexibility in carrying out work, as well as in fairly harmonious arrangements for ongoing business relationships with the intrapreneurship projects. On the other hand, human resources with entrepreneurial behavior are still minimal. Similarly, the driving factors in reward and training that promote entrepreneurial behavior are also considered to be insufficient. The application of intrapreneurship as a strategy requires understanding and commitment from all parties in the organization. This study provides insight into the Indonesian context and proposes that intrapreneurship initiatives are less likely to succeed if they are not supported by developing a more systematic entrepreneurial mindset, behavior, and culture.

  • This study is focused on finding out the character of urban recreation forest and investigating facilities regulations of forest resources around urban areas to meet future recreation needs. The method of this study is to compare urban recreation forests with similar facilities like urban parks and natural recreation forests. By this way, this study not only identifies the characteristics of urban recreation forest as emerging recreational facility, but also outputs regulations that can be adapted to real environment. Urban recreation forest is defined as follows: It has forest with good natural landscape and easy access. It makes emotion rich and its function is focused on outdoor recreation nature education, and experiences for family group mainly within a day or on weekends. This study suggests that the minimal area of urban recreation forest should be over 100,000$m^2$, with a facility ratio less than 20%. Building coverage should be less than 7% when the urban recreation forest is under 300,000$m^2$, less than 5% when 300,000∼500,000$m^2$, and less than 3% when over 500,000$m^2$ The limits of building height is 3 stories, or under 12m. This study finds out the character, the needs of urban recreation and the criterion for project feasibility. significance of the result is supplying theoretical basement on related regulation. Based on the results, further study will establish landscape management method and legislation & application in a detailed examination.

  • The tracking algorithm based on the interacting multiple model(IMM) requires a considerable number of sub-models for the various maneuvering targets in order to have a good performance. But it is not feasible to use the nm algorithm in the real system because of the computational burden. Therefore, we need an algorithm which requires less computing resources while maintaining a good performance. In this paper, we propose a fuzzy interacting multiple model algorithm(FIMMA) for the tracking of maneuvering targets, which uses a minimal number of sub-models by considering the maneuvering properties and adjusts the mode transition probabilities by using the mode probability as a fuzzy input. In order to verify the performance of FIMMA, the developed algorithm is applied to the tracking of i borne targets. Simulation results show that the FIMMA is very effective in the tracking of maneuvering targets.

  • As part of our search for less toxic antimicrobial agents from natural resources, antimicrobial activity of rutin isolated from Sophora japonica was tested in vitro against four kinds of gram positive bacteria and four kinds of gram negative bacteria by serial broth dilution method. Among eight kinds of bacteria tested, the antimicrobial activity of rutin was the most potent against Mycobacterium smegmatis showing MIC of $375\;{\mu}g/ml$. The acute toxicity of rutin was examined in mice and rats. and $LD_{50}$ value administered intraperitoneally in mice was 650 mg/kg(Confidence limit: 894-1,473 mg/kg). There were no significant changes in serum biochemical values and histopathological changes as compared with those of control after intraperitoneal administration with rutin in rats.

  • RTOS in the embedded system is a powerful tool for the design of multi-tasking. However, previous RTOS has large proportion in the MCU with limited memory. So it is difficult to apply RTOS. In this paper, I removed less frequently used features from the traditional RTOS, and designed lightweight RTOS that schedules and manages the resources with minimal code. I used techniques to obtain user memory using sharing stack, and to reduce the overhead at context. Considering ratio of kernel and applications, the RTOS designed in this paper is available on the MCU with more than 4KB of program memory.

  • This study estimated the mound and termite population density in the two study plots in Durokkopin Nature Reserve, Western Australia between 2003 and 2004. The mound density and size were greater in the woodland than in the shrubland. The annual growth rate of mounds was minimal. Some mounds decreased in volume during the 14 month observation period in both study plots. There were no significant differences in the termite population per mound or in the proportion of each caste between the two study plots. The size of the termite population in the mound progressively increased from the small to larger mounds. Overall, of the two favoured habitats, woodland appears to be more optimal for this termite species than the shrubland.

  • Generally, huge amounts of data traffic are generated by using broadcasting method to deliver sensing data to a sink node reliably so that it makes a severe network saturation problem resulting in unreliable data transfer. In order to handle this problem, a new congestion control protocol is required for supporting reliable data transfer, minimal use of energy and network resources at the same time in wireless sensor networks. In this paper, it proposes a Protocol to guarantee both a reliable transfer in data accuracy and minimum consumption of energy waste by using Hop-by-Hop sequence number and DSbACK(Delayed and Selective ACK Buffer Condition) scheme. In addition, it proves that reliability and energy efficiency are enhanced by the proposed method with the simulation results performed on TinyOS platform which is a component based built-in OS announced by UC Berkely with the performance comparison of other existing methods.

  • Recently, coastal erosion has become an important issue in relation to keeping territorial integrity of a nation as well as protecting the coastal marine ecosystem. This study examines some apprehensions about the effectiveness of the existing legal system concerning prevention of coastal erosion. After examining several case studies in Scotland, the USA, and the Netherlands, this study proposes appropriate revisional legal measures that can be applied in Korea: first, the coastal management act should be revised for stronger, enforceable and practical legal grounds emphasizing minimal coastal erosion; second, the proposed "Comprehensive Coastal Erosion Prevention Plan" should be established and implemented in four steps such as characterization of issues through surveys of stakeholders and demand assessment, plan establishment, execution, and maintenance and management; third, there is a demand to establish and implement a legal framework to support monitoring activities which provide important data and information to prevent coastal erosion; fourth, the chronic region of damage is designated as the "Vulnerable Area" to be protected and managed accordingly; fifth, the "Coastal Coordination council" is established and operated for developing an integrated coastal management policy and visions for sustainable coastal zone, as well as coordinating and intervention of any activities which may cause coastal erosion.

  • While the ever-increasing complexity of automotive software systems can be effectively managed through the adoption of a reliable real-time operating system (RTOS), it may incur additional resource usage to a resultant system. Due to the mass production nature of the automotive industry, reducing physical resources used by automotive software is of the utmost importance for cost reduction. OSEK OS is an automotive real-time kernel standard specifically defined to address this issue. Thus, it is very important to develop and exploit kernel mechanisms such that they can achieve minimal resource usage in the OSEK OS implementation. In this paper, we analyze the task subsystem, resource subsystem, application mode and conformance classes of OSEK OS as well as the OSEK Implementation Language (OIL). Based on our analysis, we in turn devise and implement kernel mechanisms to minimize the dynamic memory usage of the OSEK OS implementation. Finally, we show that our mechanisms effectively reduce the memory usage of OSEK OS and applications.
