Objective : Eucommiae Cortex is bark of Eucommia ulmoides Oliver, a deciduous tree native to China. Today, teas or herbal drugs made from E. ulmoides leaves are widely consumed as a healthy food especially in Eastern Asia including Japan, China and Korea. This study was aimed to verify the extraction efficiency of bioactive compounds from Eucommiae Cortex depending on characteristics of decoction water. Method : Six types of decoction water with various origin were prepared and the contents of minerals in water were analyzed by ICP-AES and ICP-MS. The contents of extracted bioactive compounds were analyzed by HPLC and the relationship between mineral contents and extracted bioactive compounds in the decoction water were analysed by multiple factor analysis. The decoction waters could be classified in three groups by hierarchical cluster analysis. Result : Extracted amounts of compounds in Eucommiae Cortex showed a positive relationship with Na, Si, K concentration in decoction water, while a negative relationship with Ca, Mg concentration. Conclusion : The study proved that the minerals in water influenced the extraction efficiency of bioactive compounds from Eucommiae Cortex.
The catchment management experiences of the Evian natural mineral water (NMW) bottling company were reviewed. Evian is among the leading brands of bottled NMW in France, exporting worldwide and becoming a role model for companies in many countries due to its long-term experiences in sustainably managing NMW source areas. Experiences of bottled water companies in France show that they are incessantly moving forward with proactive and advanced ideas to meet environmental challenges. For business sustainability, companies are dedicated to improving their environmental performance through effective and planned resource management. Evian has been working with the local community in a spirit of co-ownership to invent and preserve the water resource and fulfill its ambition of sustainable industrial functioning. The partnership aims to balance the protection of the NMW resource and sustainable agricultural development within the catchment.

The structures exposed to marine environment do not show long-term durability due to corrosion of steel and deterioration of concrete by the attack of various salts dissolved in sea water. In this study, Partial substitution of cement with fly ash(20%) or blast furnace slag(40%) was made together with the addition of 4 different corrosion-inhibitors, as a protective measure of concrete structures against chemical attack of salts. Combined effects of mineral and corrosion-inhibiting admixtures were tested by measuring the resistance and compressive strength of concretes under the simulated tidal condition, which consists of alternating 12 hour periods of immersion in artificial sea water and drying in air. Both the strength and concrete resistance were found to decrease in following order, regardless of the corrosion inhibitors the concretes with blast furnace slag, those with fly ash and those without any mineral admixtures. The interrelation between compressive strength of concrete and resistance was investigated.

The steel in concrete structures under the environment of seawater easily corrode as the seawater penetrate into concrete. The purpose of this study is to analysis the properties of chloride diffusion in mortar using mineral admixtures, as a part of study to examine the chloride penetration of concrete. The results show that the chloride diffusion in mortar increased with higher water-cement ratio. In the case of mortar using mineral admixtures the scope of diffusion coefficient$(\times10^{-8}cm^2/sec)$increased SF20(0.9), SG60(3.3), FA20(3.9), and OC(6.1) in order at the same water-cement ratio 50%.

This paper presents a numerical model which can predict degree of hydration of cement mineral component, such as $C_{3}S$, $C_{2}S$, $C_{3}A$, $C_{4}AF$ and microstructure of hydrating cement as a function of water to cement ratio, cement particle size distribution, cement mineral components and temperature. In this model cement particles are parked randomly in cell space and hydration process is described using a multi-component integrated kinetic model. The simulation result of degree of hydration of cement mineral component agrees well with experiment result. The content of cement hydration product, such as CSH and CH can be obtained as an accompanied result during hydration process. By introducing of equal-area projection method, water withdrawl mechanism and contact area among cement particles can be considered in detail. By using proposed method, pore size distribution of hydrating cement is predicted.

A chloride is an important deteriorating factor which governs the durability of the reinforced-concrete structures under marine environments. Also, the main penetration mechanism of chloride ion into concrete is a diffusion phenomenon. In this study, It is evaluated the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion in non-steady state by Fick's second law. Submergence method in salt water carried out in this experiment. Two types of cement which is different in mineral composition were used. In addition, the effect of mineral admixtures of blast-furnace slag and meta-kaolin was studied. In conclusion, the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion is much affected according to cement type and mineral admixtures, also, it is proved that meta-kaolin as well as blast-furnace slag is effective in preventing penetration of chloride ion.

There are several types of salts that classifed into raw salts(Chunil salt, Saeng salt), purified salts (NaCl reagent grade, Hanju salt) and processed salts(Gueun salt, Saeng kum, Bamboo salt) in Korea. Their major element is NaCl but raw salt from sea water contains other minerals such as K, Mg and S. Mineral contents of the various kinds of salt analyzed with ICP-AES and AAS were different, especially on the contents of K, Mg and Ca. Chunil salt was abundant in Ca(1,037ppm), K(3,707ppm), Mg(10,266ppm) and S(7,459ppm), and salt water from the Chunil salt contained small amounts of Pb, Al, Cr and Hg. Processed salts contained high levels of Ca, K, Mg and Fe. Especially, high levels of K, P, Fe and Ge were detected in bamboo salt. Purified salts showed regular crystal form and raw salts exhibited irregular crystal form under the SEM. The processed salts were not crystal form, but fused and irregular round form.
This paper presents a new winding method in the electronic descaling(ED) technology. The ED technology Produces an oscillating electric field via the Faraday's law to Provide necessary molecular agitation to dissolved mineral ions. But present method gives another agitation force to mineral ions, which is Lorentz's force. Experiments were peformed at various Renolds number. A series of tests was conducted, measuring pressure drop across test section and the overall heat transfer coefficient as a function of time. In order to accelerate the rate of fouling, artificial hard water of 1000ppm $CaCO_3$ was used throughout the tests. The results show that the new method accelerates collision of mineral ions and improvs efficiency of system.

From the early 1980's, the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM) has been developed as a one of the standard tunneling method in Korea. Owing to the results of many researches, the practical problems of shotcrete has been improved for a last decade. However, the excess amount of rebound still remains one of the critical problems in shotcrete technology. In order to improve for this rebound problem, recently developed cement mineral accelerator has been successfully applied to several NATM tunnels in Korea. An experimental investigation was carried out in order to verify the rebound characteristics of wet-mix Steel Fiber Reinforced Shotcrete (SFRS) with powder types cement mineral accelerator. Mortar setting test, SEM analysis, bonding test under spring water condition and rebound test were conducted. From the result, wet-mix SFRS with cement mineral acelerator exhibited excellent bonding characteristics even spring water condition and less rebound ratio compared to the conventional liquid accelerator.
