  • Objectives : Hakomi therapy is a body-centered psychotherapy established by Ron Kurtz in the 80s. Here we introduce the clinical possibilities of application in Korean medicine through Hakomi therapy. Methods : At first, we present the definition, basic principles, terms and outline of Hakomi therapy in reference to "Body-centered psychotherapy The Hakomi Method," published by Ron Kurtz. Then we study the clinical application of Hakomi therapy on Korean medicine. Results : There are many similarities between Hakomi and Korean medicine, such as Mind-Body holism, organicity through homeostasis of living things, non-violent attitude of therapist like Tao, and emphasis on breathing by corresponding with Nature. Also, there are similarities in methods, such as Ohjisangseung, Iijungbyunqi, and Qigong. Hence, Hakomi therapy can be useful in Korean psychotherapy. Conclusions : If we can graft Hakomi therapy onto Korean psychotherapy, it will be efficacious for Korean psychotherapy to be systematized.

  • Psychotherapy in Korean Medicine is characterized not only by management of mental issues, but also a holistic perspective of the mind and body, which includes physical treatment. In this case report, we describe the efficacy of Korean psychotherapy for couples with physical symptoms of heartache, emotional tension and marital relationships by addressing the challenges at the Mind and Body levels. For the physical treatment of the couple, the wife was treated with a Bunshimgi-Eum and the husband was administered a Cheonwangbosimdan, combined with a psychiatric interview based on Korean Medicine. It involves listening to the couple's story, YiJungBeongi therapy, understanding and learning about vases and defense mechanisms, self-understanding and understanding of the husband through self-understanding and expansion, and husband's understanding of the wife's position, self-interpretation and acceptance. Based on counseling, the couple's personal characteristics and expansion for self-growth, the progress and results of the couple's challenges and relationship improvement in a relatively short period of time are presented. In response, we hope that the evidence based on Korean Psychotherapy supporting the counseling for couples will continue to accumulate. We would like to report and share a few opinions.

Estern medicine, like most psychotherapies, is concerned with an individual's unique physical and emotional state. The aim of this study is to review Ii-Geug-Byun-Qi(移精變氣療法) therapy which is one of the psychotherapies in estern medicine. We studied few representative books which are about in estern medicine and also studied some clinical case reports on psychotherapies by estern medicine therapy, specially about Ii-Geug-Byun-Qi(移精變氣療法) therapy. Generally we understood Chukyoo(祝由) is the eldest psychological therapy which is based on Shamanism and controlled by Shaman as a doctor. and it is similar to simple psychoanalysis in western medicine. The psychologic therapy of Ii-Geug-Byun-Qi (移精變氣療法) is typical estem medicine psychologic therapy since the principle of estern medice had built like Hwang-Chi-Nei-Ching(黃帝內經). The meaning. of Ii-Geug-Byun-Qi(移精變氣療法) therapy is holistic psychologic therapy which are based on the harmony of mind and body. The practical method of Ii-Geug-Byun-Qi(移精變氣療法) are to refresh patient's emotional condition, like ventilaltion. The second healing method of Ii-Geug-Byun-Qi(移精變氣療法) is persuasion by dialogue. The third method is to clear patient's doubt by explainning of some qutestions. Therefore, the indication of Ii-Geug-Byun-Qi(移精變氣療法) therapy are psychosomatic disease or psychogenic problems. In conclusion, I suggest that the Ii-Geug-Byun-Qi(移精變氣療法) therapy could be powerfully adopt to prevent or treat lots of disease which is related with mind and body induced by stressor.

  • Objective : Progressive muscle relaxation(PMR) therapy is the way of mind and body self-regulation which makes major muscles tension to be comfortable condition. It was considered to be important to check the level of relaxation in objective validity. Therefore, Heart rate variability(HRV) is the valuable measurement to investigate the effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy on autonomic nerve system. Method : I studied 38 subjects. The subjects were measured HRV at first. And then, Using a CD player, the subjects listened to recorded PMR program for 15 minutes. After this progress, I rechecked HRV. Results : heart rate item of HRV was significantly decreased. Also, the numerical value of SDNN(standard deviation of all NN intervals) and SDSD(standard deviation of differences between adjacent NN intervals) items of HRV were showed significantly increased in all subjects after PMR. Conclusion : It indicated that PMR is efficient for inspiring resistance of the stress and a sense of stability, and PMR is a valuable method to reduce the mind stress and stiffness of body muscle.

  • This is a humanistic study to trace phenomena logically the comprehensive therapeutic mechanism of the human body which is coded by the smart emotion of the rated signal conveyed by the Rated Sijo. The Gestalt, which is structured in the form of therapeutic metastasis conveyed by sentences, is intended to embody the principle of human response. So, this researcher explored the metastatic structure toward Gestalt of original human being through the passage of foreground and background by ergonomic and chemical structure. In the meantime, this researcher focused on revealing the structure of the field of existence by the symbol system in which the therapeutic mechanism of the human body is embodied. As a result, the basic framework of Gestalt literary therapy, which contributes to the improvement of the Quality of Life metaphorized as a mechanism of the symbol system by the metastasis of literary therapy or the electrical operation of the human body. As a result, the human body as a conductor through literature has turned out to be an original Gestalt structure pursued by literature. In addition, it was analyzed that the human body would accept signals such as emotions and Rated Emotions planted in the sentence, and synapse them into the human physiological psycho analytical symbol system. Therefore, it has been confirmed possibility that human existent environment and trauma are separated from the whole universe can push fully implement therapeutic techniques toward totalization by a combination of literary devices, especially appropriate electric signal combination of the Rated Sijo.
