  • Detection of tool wear is very important in automated manufacturing. This paper presents tool condition monitoring system based on the wavelet analysis of the AC servo motro current in drilling and milling process. The current measurement system is relatively simple and its mounting will not affect machining operations. The discrete wavelet transform was used to decompose the current signal of a spindle AC servo motor in time - frequency domain. The feature vectors were extracted from the decomposed signals and compared for normal and wear condition. The results show the possibility for the effective application of wavelet analysis to tool condition monitoring.

  • A method for PID controller tuning based on process models for unstable processes was introduced. The optimal. proportional and derivative gains of the AMBs were determined by the tuning method and utilized for the chatter stability analysis in order to search for the chatter-free cutting region. The stability analysis results showed that the optimal gains give wider chatter-free cutting region, and as a result the proposed tuning method was confirmed to be an effective tuning method for determining the optimal gains of the AMBs.

  • A research on the AFC(Auto Feedrate Control) by a fuzzy controller using a tool dynamometer and motor currents was conducted. For simulations, cutting dynamics of end-milling process was modeled by geometric relationship between tool and work-piece. The fuzzy logic controller was employed to track the desired cutting force and showed good performance in simulations and several experiments. The spindle motor currents was modeled to estimate cutting force and successfully used for the AFC.

SM25C 재질의 엔드밀 가공을 위한 개선된 절삭파라미터 선정 (The Improved Cutting Parameter Design of End-milling for SM25C Material)

  • In this paper, we selected primary cutting parameters that influence on surface roughness of cut bottom surface in end-milling for SM25C material. Those are overhang, depth of cut, feed rate and spindle speed. And then performed orthogonal array experiment and ANOVA by Taguchi method to determine that improved level combination of cutting parameters for betterment of working efficiency and surface roughness one of quality characteristics. And we verified a advisability of prediction model by verification test about level combination. From the results, main cutting parameter influences on surface roughness is spindle speed and the next is feed rate.

  • In order to regulate the cutting force at a desired level during peripheral end milling processes, a feedrate override Adaptive Control Constant system was developed. This paper presents an explicit pole-assignment PI-control law through spindle motor current monitoring and its application to cutting force regulation for feedrate optimization. An experimental set-up is constructed for the commercial CNC machining center without any major changes of the structure. A data transfer system is constructed with standard interface between an IBM compatible PC and a CNC of the machining center. Experimental results show the validity of the system.

  • The face milling cutter, which is mainly used for the face milling, is used to cut the Carbon steel(SM20C) in the machining center for 5 times and 10 times respectively. This study clarify the dimensional accuracy characteristics according to the number of fine machining varied the condition of cutting depth, table feed speed and spindle speed. Cutting depth is varied 0.05~0.2mm, table feed speed is varied 0.05~0.2mm/min and spindle speed is varied 1500~2500rpm. As a result, the dimensional accuracy was stable 6 times machining with table feed speed 150mm/min and 10 times machining with table speed 100mm/min and cutting depth 0.05mm regardless times of machining.

  • This study presents a chatter vibration avoidance program for the milling process. Chatter vibration has a negative effect on workpieces and spindle-tools. When chatter vibration occurs, the cutting tool is loaded dynamically, a chatter pattern is generated on the workpiece, and the tool life is reduced. The developed program is composed of various modules such as an FFT analyzer, an impact test analyzer, a chatter vibration indicator, and a spindle speed recommender. The proposed program is verified using an AISI D2 cutting experiment in milling process. The effect of chatter vibration on the machining condition can be simulated by the suggested method, and successfully exploited to avoid chatter vibration.

비선형 회귀분석에 의한 엔드밀 가공조건에 따른 Al7075의 표면정도 예측 (Prediction of Surface Roughness of Al7075 on End-Milling Working Conditions by Non-linear Regression Analysis)

  • Recently, the End-milling processing is needed the high-precise technique to get a good surface roughness and rapid time in manufacturing of precision machine parts and electronic parts. The optimum surface roughness has an effect on end-milling working condition such as, cutting direction, spindle speed, feed rate and depth of cut, and so on. It needs to form the correlation of working conditions and surface roughness. Therefore this study was carried out to presume of surface roughness on end-milling working condition of Al7075 by regression analysis. The results was shown that the coefficient of determination($R^2$) of regression equation had a fine reliability of 87.5% and nonlinear regression equation of surface rough was made by multiple regression analysis.

  • End-milling have been used widely in industrial system because it is effective to a material manufacturing with various shape. Recently the end-milling processing is needed the high-precise technique with good surface roughness and rapid time in precision machine part and electronic part. The optimum surface roughness has an effect on end-milling condition such as, cutting direction, spindle speed, feed rate and depth of cut, etc. Therefore this study was carried out to presume for mutual relation of end-milling condition to get the optimum surface roughness by regression analysis. The results shown that coefficient of determination($R^{2}m$) of regression equation has a fine reliability over 80% and regression equation of surface rough is made by regression analysis.

  • Recently the high speed end-milling processing is demanded the high-precise technique with good surface rougj1ness and rapid time in aircraft, automobile part and molding industry. The working factors of high speed end-milling has an effect on surface roughness of cutting surface. Therefore this study was carried out to analyze the working factors to get the optimum surface roughness by design of experiment. From this study, surface roughness have an much effect according to priority on Spindle speed, feed rale, hardness and axial depth of cut By design of experiment, it is effectively represented shape characteristics of surface roughness in high speed end-milling And determination($R^2$) coefficient of regression equation had a satisfactory reliability of 89.7% and regression equation of surface roughness is made by regression analysis.
