  • This paper describes the performance improvement of power control system of magnetron (MGT) for microwave oven. The MGT is used extensively in household microwave oven and industrial microwave heating devices, and is operated by 3.0[kV] $\∼$5.0[kV] dc high voltage. The proposed power supply is consisted of a bridge rectifier, step-up converter(SUC) and its controller, half bridge inverter(HBI) and its controller, and full wave double voltage rectifier(DVR). In the proposed system, a good power factor can be obtained by the SUC' switching method that the inductor current waveforms follows that of the rectified voltage, and a line input power can be controlled to a range of 17.5[$\%$] by duty ratio (DR) adjustment of the HBI.

  • The model of azimuth driving servo system with a flexible antenna in a microwave seeker has been derived in this paper. The validity of the model is verified by comparing the result of the model with that of experiment. It is found that one should consider an antenna as a flexible body in case of modeling the dynamics of the microwave seeker. It is also known that the effect of reducing backlash magnitude for extending the bandwidth in the system with a flexible antenna is smaller than that in the system with a stiff antenna. It is thought that the model-based design optimization of the microwave seeker will become possible by virtue of the derived model, when a weight reduction and a bandwidth extension are required.

  • This paper presents a tumor detection system for breast cancer that utilizes two-dimensional (2D) image reconstruction with microwave tomographic imaging. The breast cancer detection system under development consists of 16 transmit/receive antennas, and the microwave tomography system operates at 900 MHz. To solve a 2D inverse scattering problem, the method of moments (MoM) is employed for forward problem solving, and the simplex method employed as an optimization algorithm. The results of the reconstructed image show that the method accurately shows the position of a breast tumor.

  • The optical fiber micro-cellular system requires the high linearity that determines the quality and capacity of system. Hence, there is a need for improving the linearity in mobile communication system. In order to compensate dispersion-induced signal distortion, we fabricated the optical feedforward transmitter. The compared 3rd-IMD was enhanced by 38 dB for two-tone case and the Adjacent Channel Power Ratio was enhanced by 20 dB for W-CDMA 1 carrier and by 16 dB for W-CDMA 3 carriers. Also, the induced noise level was reduced.

  • Thd idle channel noise on FDM-microwave communication system is increasing because of the up-grade to wide-band loading. The thermal noise on receiver of microwave radio is measured according to their channel slot frequencies, low, meddle and high slots on the base band, from 60 channels to 960 channels. And suggested a consideration for system engineering, to reduce the thermal noise from radio microwave receivers, so as to improve signal to noise ratio.

  • Black locust(Robina pseudo-acacia L.) and hornbeam trees(Carpinus laxiflora BL.) are widely growing in Korea and have relatively good wood qualities. However, they have seldom been used as industrial materials. This study was carried out to investigate the effect of wood moisture content on microwave-bending processing. The bending processing of the both species are improved as the increase of wood moisture from 30% to green, and the maximum limit of wood moiture content is 50%. The minimum solid-bending radii of black locust and hornbeam green wood were 60mm and 40mm for micro-wave bending, respectively. In conclusion, the microwave-heated green wood showed very good bending processing properties for bent-wood furniture.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of green tea catechin on mixed function oxidase system (MFO), lipofuscin contents, carbonyl value, oxidative damage and the antioxidative defense system in lung of microwave exposed rats. Experimental groups were divided to normal group and microwave exposed group. The microwave exposed groups were subdivided into three groups: catechin free diet (MW-0C) group, 0.25% catechin (MW-0.25C) group and 0.5 % catechin (MW-0.5C) group according to the levels of dietary catechin supplementation. The rats were irradiated with microwave at frequency of 2.45 GHz for 15 min. Experimental animals were sacrificed at 6th day after microwave irradiation. The contents of cytochrome P$_{450}$ contents in MW-0C group was increased to 95% , compared with normal group. MW-0.25C and MW-0.5C groups were reduced to 16% and 31%, respectively, compared with MW-0C group. The activity of NADPH-cytochrome P$_{450}$ reductase in MW-0C group was increased to 44%, compared with normal group. MW-0.25C and MW-0.5C groups were reduced to 12% and 17%, respectively, compared with MW-0C group. The activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in MW-0C group was decreased to 21 %, compared with normal group. MW-0.25C and MW-0.5C group were significantly (p < 0.05) increased, compared with MW-0C group. The activity of glutathione peroxidase (GSHpx) in MW-0C group was significantly decreased, compared with normal group. MW-0.25C and MW-0.5C groups were recovered to the level of normal group. The thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) content in MW-0C group was increased to 34 %, compared with normal group. Catechin supplementation groups were maintained the level of normal group. The levels of caybonyl value in MW-0C group was increased to 21 %, compared with normal group. MW-0.25C and MW-0.5C groups were reduced to 14% and 12%, respectively, compared with MW-0C group. The lipofuscin contents in MW-0C group were increased to 23.4 %, compared with normal group. That of MW-0.5C group was significantly reduced, compared with MW-0C group. In conclusion, MFO system was activated and the formation of oxidized protein, lipofuscin was increased and antioxidative defense system was weakened of lung tissue in microwave exposed rats, thus oxidative damage was increased. But it was rapidly recovered to normal level by green tea catechin supplementation.n.

  • In this paper, 5.8GHz 25W microwave wireless power transmission system was developed. The transmission system is composed of a signal generator, a 1W drive amplifier, a 25W power amplifier, and a circularly polarized transmission antenna. The receiving system was fabricated with an integrated receiver that combines a circularly polarized receiving antenna, a pass band filter, and an RF-DC converter. And a multi-integrated receiver had twelve parts, including an integrated receiver. Under the conditions, voltage and current were measured for the system at 5cm intervals from a minimum distance of 5cm to a maximum distance of 80cm. The power was calculated for the system. The results of the system are shown in tables and graphs. The power decreases with distance, but the power does not drop sharply due to a multi-integrated receiver.

  • Adsorption characteristics of benzene by zeolite were investigated using irradiating microwave. Experimental apparatus was applied to a U-type fix-bed column equipped with microwave system. Zeolite, itself, seems to be inappropriated to remove benzene because of a hygroscopic property, Microwave irradiation to zeolite, however, brings about decreasing $H_{2}O$ adsorption and increasing benzene adsorption. This causes that the dipole material such as $H_{2}O$ was vibrated and heated by irradiation of microwave and desorbed from zeolite. And then, benzene starts to be absorbed by zeolite. In this study, the results showed that the selective adsorption of benzene was occurred by the microwave irradiation and the adsorption capacity of benzene was increased by increasing microwave energy. As a results, it was found that the zeolite could be used to adsorb benzene with microwave and this method make it feasible simultaneously to adsorb and desorb benzene.

  • In order to promote an efficiency CPB process, we developed microwave system in CPB process. The whiteness and penetration ability of microwave-CPB pre-treated fabrics were superior to CPB only. This results indicates that microwave-CPB pre-treatment promotes CPB efficiency in agent usages and batching time.
