A Protection Ratio with Composite Fade Margin for Detailed Frequency Coordination in Microwave Relay System Network

  • In this paper, the formulation of the protection ratio based upon a composite fade margin and availability is newly presented for the detailed planning of frequency coordination in the microwave relay system network, and computed results for co-channel and adjacent channel protection ratios are illustrated over an actual system with 6.2 GHz. It is shown that the protection ratio to assure a quality of service can be expressed in terms of the composite fade margin, noise-to-interference ratio, net filter discrimination, and system parameters. In addition, the net filter discrimination, depending upon the transmitter spectrum mask and the overall receiver filter characteristic, has been examined to investigate the effect of the adjacent channel protection ratio caused by the adjacent channel interference. Regarding simulated results for 6.2 GHz, 60 km, 64-QAM, and N/I=6 dB at the bit error rate of $10^{-6}$, composite fade margin and co-channel protection ratio yield 25.14 and 50.3 dB, respectively. Also, the net filter discrimination of 26.5 dB and the adjacent channel protection ratio of 23.8 dB are obtained at the first adjacent channel of 30 MHz. The proposed method provides some merits in view of a comprehensive and practical application with more detailed and various system parameters needed to access the criteria for making the proper frequency coordination.

  • 본 연구에서는 DMR(Digital Microwave Radio) STM-1 신호전송을 위한 CCITT G.707SDH(Synchronous Digital Hierachy) 제1레벨인 155Mbps 속도의 64QAM RF MODEM 변조기를 구현하였다. 변조기의 성능을 좌우하는 중요한 특성은 PSF(Pulse Shaping Filter)를 설계하는 일로써, 기존에는 Chebychev 필터(roll-off factor a=0.33, 군지연 10nsec이하를 얻었다. 또한 PSF 통과후 -20dBm, IF 증폭단 통과후 0dBm의 출력레벨을 얻었다.

  • In this paper, Coplanar Waveguide(CPW) low-pass filter with the spurious-reduced is designed by using Defected Ground Structures(DGS). Two different LPF unit cells and DGS pattern are combined to reduce the spurious. In comparison to a conventional step impedance LPF, the size of proposed LPF as 17.2mm*6.8mm is several times smaller. The simulation and measurements confirm that spurious characteristics is presented less than -30dB($S_{21}$) to three times cut off frequency.

General Coupling Matrix Synthesis Method for Microwave Resonator Filters of Arbitrary Topology

  • This letter presents a new approach to synthesize the resonator filters of an arbitrary topology. This method employs an optimization method based on the relation between the polynomial coefficients of the transfer function and those of the $S_{21}$ from the coupling matrix. Therefore, this new method can also be applied to self-equalized filters that were not considered in the conventional optimization methods. Two microwave filters, a symmetric 4-pole filter with four transmission zeros (TZs) and an asymmetric 8-pole filter with seven TZs, are synthesized using the present method for validation. Excellent agreement between the response of the transfer function and that of the synthesized $S_{21}$ from the coupling matrix is shown.

Microwave 채널 환경에서 단일적응등화기를 이용하는 OFDM/QPSK-DMR 시스템의 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of OFDM/QPSK-DMR System Using One-tap Adaptive Equalizer over Microwave Channel Environments)

  • 본 논문에서는 마이크로웨이브 채널 환경에서 대역제한필터(BL-PSF)를 이용하는 OFDM/QPSK-DMR 시스템의 성능개선에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 성능개선을 위해 단일적응등화기(one-tap adaptive equalizer)를 OFDM/QPSK-DMR 시스템에 적용하였으며, 단일 반송파방식의 DMR 시스템과 BER 및 특성 곡선(signature curve) 성능을 비교분석하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 마이크로웨이브 채널 환경에서 OFDM/QPSK-DMR 시스템에 단일적응등화기를 적용한 경우, 부 반송파의 수가 16일때 단일 반송파방식의 DMR 시스템보다 2 dB 이상의 페이드 마진을 갖는다. 그리고 OFDM/QPSK-DMR 시스템의 부 반송파의 수가 많을수록 페이드 마진이 더욱 증가하여 성능이 향상 되는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Microwave Dielectric Properties of Ti-Te system Ceramics for Triplexer Filter

  • In this study, the compositions for the microwave dielectric materials were investigated to obtain the improved dielectric properties, the high temperature stability, and the sintering temperature of less than $900^{\circ}C$, which was necessary for cofiring with the internal conductor of silver. In addition, the dielectric sheets were prepared by the tape casting technique, after which the sheets were laminated and sintered. In this process, the optimum ratio of powder and binder, laminating pressure, temperature, and possibility for cofiring with the internal conductor were studied. Finally, multilayer chip treplexer filter for the 800-2,000 MHz range were fabricated, and the frequency characteristics of the triplexer filter were investigated. When the $0.6TiTe_3O_8-0.4MgTiO_3+3wt%SnO+7wt%H_3BO_3$ ceramics were sintered at $820^{\circ}C$ for 0.3 hours, the microwave dielectric properties of the dielectric constant of 29.91, quality factor of 33,000 GHz, and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency of -2.76 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ were obtained. Using the Advanced Design System (ADS) and High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS), the multilayer chip triplexer filter acting at the range of 800-2,000 MHz were simulated and manufactured. The manufactured triplexer filter had the excellent frequency properties in the CDAM800, GPS and PCS frequency regions, respectively.

  • For microwave device applications, c-axis oriented high temperature superconducting YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{7-{\delta}}$ (HTS-YBCO) epitaxial thin films on the r-cut sapphire substrate(Al$_2$O$_3$) were prepared. In order to reduce the lattice mismatch with a substrate and to enhance the crystallity of HTS thin films, CeO$_2$ buffer layer on the r-cut sapphire substrate was grown by the RF-magnetron sputtering. The YBCO films on the CeO$_2$ buffer layer were deposited using the pulsed-laser deposition (PLD) method. These HTS YBCO /CeO$_2$/Al$_2$O$_3$ multilayer thin films(30 $\times$ 30 mm$^2$) routinely exhibited a critical temperature(T$_{c}$) of 89 K from the R-T measurement. Using HTS YBCO/CeO$_2$ /Al$_2$O$_3$ multilayer thin film. We fabricated and characterized the microwave passive devices (planar type filters) with cryopack-age such as the coupled -line type low-pass filter (LPF) and the open-loop meander type bandpass filter (BPF).filter (BPF).).

슬롯형 분할 나선형 공진기를 이용한 소형 협 대역통과 필터 설계 및 제작 (Fabrication and Design of a Compact Narrow Band Pass Filter Using Slot Type Split Spiral Resonators)

  • 본 논문에서는 슬롯형 분할 나선형 공진기를 이용하여 마이크로스트립 기판상에 구현될 소형 협 대역통과 필터설계기법을 제안한다. 이 필터의 설계기법은 슬롯형 분할 나선형 공진기, 패치사이의 용량성 갭, 그리고 미앤더 구조를 가진 유도성 스터브의 조합으로 구성된 필터 단들의 종속 연결에 근거를 두고 있다. 그 기법하에서 거의 대칭인 필터응답, 가변 대역폭, 그리고 소형필터를 구현할 수 있었다. 제안된 필터는 기존의 필터보다 저지대역에서 우수한 차단특성을 가졌다. 측정결과, 삽입손실은 중심주파수($f_0$=1GHz)에서 -3.47dB, 통과대역에서 -12.62dB 이하, 3dB 대역폭은 약 7.3%로 나타났다. 제작된 필터의 관심 영역 주파수응답은 CST사의 MWS(Microwave Studio)로 전산모의 실험된 값과 잘 일치되었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 microwave 채널 환경에 적합한 OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 기반의 DMR(Digital Microwave Radio)시스템 구조를 제안하고 시스템 성능을 분석하였다. 기존의 단일 반송파 방식의 DMR 시스템은 High-level QAM변조방식을 사용하며 시스템 구성이 복잡하고, 페이딩 채널에 매우 민감한 특성을 갖기 때문에 전송용량의 한계가 발생한다. 따라서 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위한 방안으로 페이딩 채널에 강한 OFDM 방식이 연구되어왔다. 본 논문에서는 기존 OFDM에서 사용된 windowing 방식 대신 BL-PSF(Band-Limited Pulse Shaping Filter)를 이용 하므로서 GI/GB(Guard Interval/Guard Band) 등의 잉여 데이터 사용을 지양하여 전송용량을 향상 시킬수 있도록 하였으며, IFFT/FFT 블록의 이용효율을 개선시킬 수 있도록 하였다. 본논문에서는 microwave 채널 환경에 대해 단일 반송파 방식의 DMR 시스템과 OFDM/QPSK-DMR 시스템의 성능을 시뮬레이션하여 비교분석하였다. 그 결과, 제안하는 DMR 시스템은 부 반송파의 수가 많아질수록 단일 반송파 방식의 DMR 시스템보다 우수한 fade margin을 갖는것을 알 수 있었다.

Temperature Dependence of Microwave Properties of HTS Multipole Lowpass Filters Consisting of Microstrip Open-Stub Lines

  • Using high quality high-$T_c$ superconducting (HTS) YBCO thin films, we designed and fabricated 3-pole, 5-pole, and 7-pole lowpass filters consisting of microstrip transmission lines and open-stub lines. We measured the microwave response of the filters in the temperature range of T=85 K to 27 K. AtT=30 K, the observed inband insertion loss was 0.14dB and 0.02dB for the 5-pole and 7-pole filters, respectively. The cut-off frequency was 4.7 GHz for the 5-pole filter and 7.9GHz for the 7-pole filter. To the authors' knowledge, the measured inband insertion losses are the best values reported so far for the open-stub line type HTS multipole lowpass filters. The skirt property of the 5-pole filter showed a large improvement over that of the 3-pole filter as predicted from the simulation. We found that, to obtain a stable performance, the HTS multipole lowpass filters should be operated at the temperatures between 60% and 70% of $T_c$.
