  • In this study, A set-up for measuring a initial permeability of soft-ferrite powder was developed with a differential transformer coil. To measure a initial permeability of magnetic powder is cumbersome since there are not any measuring equipment and method. A magnetic powder is currently used for a magnetic fluid and microwave absorber materials, and the initial permeability of the magnetic powders is very important to be evaluated a powder for some applications.

  • Wide-band absorbency and small layer thickness are required in the high- performance microwave absorber. In order to reduce the thickness of the absorber, ferrite-iron-rubber composites were proposed and its properties were investigated. The increase in both real part of perrreability and permittivity of the composites were observed with addition of -Fe powder and this behavior results in the decrease of fm dm term. The matching thicknesses of ferrite-iron-ruber composites were relatively small(0.5~2.0 mm) in the frequency range of 3~17 GHz as comIBfed to than that of ferrite-rubbr composit.

  • An ultra-thin hexagonal microwave metamaterial absorber is described. It can absorb any polarized transverse electromagnetic wave because of its hexagonal shape. In spite of its very thin structure, almost $0.028{\lambda}g$, the absorber achieved 99% absorptivity at 11.35 GHz in experimental results because of the increased coupling losses, showing good agreement with simulation results. In addition, this high absorbance is unchanged for any polarized waves with the same frequency.

  • In this paper, we have studied about electromagnetic wave absorbing properties of ferrite-rubber composite with a variation of ferrite. Amounts of ferrite in a composite absorber were changed from 52 wt.% to 62 wt.%. As a result, it has been shown that the electromagnetic wave absorbing properties of ferrite-rubber composite are related to the amount of ferrite in composite absorber. As a summary, it could be controled the electromagnetic wave absorbing property of ferrite-rubber composite by changing some kinds of annex A and amount of ferrite.

  • In this study, three kinds of Mn-Zn ferrite/Ni-Zn ferrite/$Ni_2Y$ ferroxplana prepared by the coprecipitation method were compounded with the silicon rubber, and the ring-shaped specimens with various compositional ratio were made. The material constant of ferrite/rubber composite absorbers was obtained by the 2-port method. The material constants of the ferrite/rubber composite microwave absorber made of three kinds of ferrite with various compositional ratio were utilized in design the matching conditions (frequency and thickness) on the impedance matching map. We were able to predict the matching condition from the matching map. On all three kinds of ferrite/rubber composite microwave absorber with less than compositional ratio 60[wt.%] of ferroxplana, we have found that the reflection losses were over than 20[dB] at the S-Band $(2\sim4[GHz])$ and C-Band$(4\sim8[GHz])$.

  • In this paper, the authors present a new design for a dual-band metamaterial(MTM) absorber that utilizes resonant-magnetic inclusion of a split-ring resonator(SRR). The proposed MTM unit cell is constructed by two open complementary split-ring resonators(OCSRRs) and an SRR arrangement. To avoid the need for metallic back plate a planar array of SRRs for resonant-magnetic inclusion is placed facing toward the incident wave propagation direction. Each unit cell is printed on the two sides of a FR-4 substrate. A prototype absorber was fabricated with a planar array of $39{\times}39$ unit cells, and measured. The proposed backplane-less absorber can be used for microwave applications.

  • Under the irradiation of radiofrequency wave, the dipole materials vibrate as microwave phase changes. This causes friction between adjacent molecules and enables an unique characteristics of interior heating of the materials. Using this principle, when harmful material pass through anthracite- bed which play a role as a absorber of radiofrequency wave, the material can be easily decomposed by the microwave energy. To remove benzene vapour and other solvents in the process of industry, we examined decomposition of benzene in this manner. It was found that benzene was decomposed to the methane, ethane, propane and butane, etc. during passing through the carbon-bed under the microwave impingement and distribution of methane in the products reached about 85 vol.%. The decomposition rate of benzene was high within 5 minutes from start of reaction. For a lower concentration of benzene gas, general cases in the field of industry, almost complete decomposition of benzene is believed possible and this method is surely expected to be useful for the prevention of air pollution and improvement of ambient condition.

  • This study aims to measure the reflection loss and the material constants of the fabricated samples for electromagnectic wave absorber by using $20 mm\phi$ coaxial tube with the endshort-type. The authors have established the extraction algorithm of material constants by one port method, and proved that the results of the experiments were in agreement with the calculated ones. On the basis of the above results, the validity of the proposed measuring method is confirmed. This measurement method could be used effectively for the design of microwave absorber and for its evalustion.
