  • In this paper, we proposed to a new structure of T-shaped fed microstrip slot antenna using 2-layers dielectric material with a directional radiation characteristic. When the slot antenna of bi-directional radiation want to radiate only one direction, the reflector must be set up, but this antenna does'nt need set up reflector. T-shaped microstrip feed line is proposed for a better impedance matching to the microstrip slot antenna in a various range of slot widths. It was also found that the bandwidth of this antenna is proportional to the slot width. It was also found that the radiation resistance of this feed line structure is quite constant and low regardless to the slot width. We also analyzed this antenna by using the FDTD method, and calculating waves and electric field distribution in the time domain. we also are calculated return loss, VSWR, and radiation pattern in the frequency domain by Fourier transforming the time domain results, respectively. From the measured results, bandwidth was 34.8% in the center frequency. These results were in relatively good accordance with the calculated values.

  • This paper describes a wideband double dipole quasi-Yagi antenna fed by a microstrip-to-slotline transition. The transition feed consists of a microstrip radial stub and a slot radial stub, each with the same angle of $90^{\circ}$ but with different radii, to achieve wideband impedance matching. Double dipoles with different lengths are utilized as primary radiation elements to enhance bandwidth and achieve stable radiation patterns. The proposed antenna has a measured bandwidth of 3.34~8.72 GHz for a -10 dB reflection coefficient and a flat gain of $6.9{\pm}0.6$ dBi across the bandwidth.

  • The impedance bandwidth and radiation characteristics of an aperture-coupled microstrip line-fed patch antenna (ACMPA) with a high permittivity (${\varepsilon}_r=10$) feed substrate suitable for integration with a monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) are investigated for various feed substrate thicknesses through an experiment and computer simulation. The impedance bandwidth of an ACMPA with a high permittivity feed substrate increases as the feed substrate thickness decreases. Furthermore, the front-to-back ratio of an ACMPA with a high permittivity feed substrate increases and the cross-polarization level decreases as the feed substrate thickness decreases. As the impedance bandwidth of an ACMPA with a high permittivity feed substrate increases and its radiation characteristics improve as the feed substrate thickness decreases, the ACMPA configuration becomes suitable for integration with an MMIC.

  • We designed and fabricated microstrip line fed QMSAs(Quarter-Wavelength Microstrip Antenna) for 850〔MHz〕 band on the CGP-500 Copper-clad Laminates substrate (CHUKOH company) with $\varepsilon$$_{r}$=2.6, H=1.6〔mm〕( $\pm$0.08), where the width of the radiation patch is identical with that of the ground plane. The resonant frequencies and the return losses were measured by reducing the PSW(Partially Shorted Width) to 0〔mm〕, step by step, when the microstrip line width was 1.47〔mm〕, 2.93〔mm〕and 4.4〔mm〕separately. As a result, a good characterized antenna with a 11% reduced resonant length and a return loss -29.44〔㏈〕 was obtained when the total PSW was in the range of 70% of radiated patch width, compared to the conventional QMSA.A.

  • In this paper, a single plane wide band microstrip antenna for integrated circuit is designed and fabricated. A new configuration for a wide bandwidth is proposed. This antenna consists of two folded microstrip monopoles, which are fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW). Therefore In this paper is folded terminal part of dual microstrip line for variable reactance value. As a result compared the proposed folded dual microstrip monopole antenna with established dual microstrip monopole antennas, the proposed antenna can widen bandwidth more then about over 1[GHz. The characteristics of the proposed antenna were analyzed by using an FDTD methods. The proposed antenna has $1.98{\sim}4.05GHz$ bandwidth for using ISM, Wibro and DMB band.

  • In this paper, the single-fed microstrip parasitic array antenna for low-cost three-dimensional beam steering in 5.8GHz ISM(5.725GHz~5.825GHz) band is designed and implemented. The antenna is comprised of one feed active element and four passive elements with variable reactance loads. The beam steering range of implemented antenna is achieved three-dimensional beam steering of ${\pm}28^{\circ}$ at azimuth angle ${\Phi}=0^{\circ}$, ${\Phi}=45^{\circ}$, ${\Phi}=90^{\circ}$, and ${\Phi}=135^{\circ}$ by adjusting variable reactance loads. The maximum gain of the antenna in the beam steering range have within 7.23dBi~9.36dBi and the bandwidth of return loss lower than -10dB covers 5.8GHz ISM band regardless of the beam steering angles.

  • In this paper, we present the design and fabrication of a new circularly polarized circular patch antenna. The antenna is realized using a plastic foam sheet, a Teflon substrate and a metal-coated film. The radiating element is a circular patch proximity-fed by a wide microstrip line. Two thins slots are introduced on the circular patch to obtain a circular polarized radiation. The antenna is optimized using a commercial software. The antenna has 18% impedance bandwidth, 4% axial-ratio band width and 9.12dBi gain.

  • In this paper, we studied a method for miniaturizing a broadband stacked patch antenna structure which is widely used for bandwidth improvement. Main patch is a rectangular microstrip patch antenna fed by a 50-ohm microstrip line, and a parasitic patch is laid above the main patch. The size of the main patch is designed to be resonated near the center frequency of the desired frequency band. Then parasitic patch longer than main patch is placed above the main patch. The distance between two patches might be adjusted so as to achieve impedance matching using a shunt open stub. The shunt matching stub is inserted underneath the parasitic patch and so it does not require additional space, which enables the proposed antenna structure to be advantageous in miniaturizing antenna. The effects of the various parameters on the antenna performance are examined, and we introduced the design procedure for the proposed antenna to operate in the frequency range of 2.3-2.7 GHz.

  • In this paper, a microstrip surface wave antenna(SWA) with a frequency selective surface structure(FSS) is designed and measured. A microstrip SWA has many advantages such as low profile, low weight, easy fabrication, and compatibility with monolithic microwave integrated circuits(MMIC). In addition, it has demonstrated monopole like beam patterns. The microstrip SWA consists of two parts : a center-fed modified microstrip patch to excite surface wave, and a periodic patches to support the propagation of the surface waves. To obtain wide bandwidth, the ring type parasitic element is inserted and the circular patch is selected for the unit element in FSS structure. Experimental results show that the microstrip SWA has monopole like beam patterns at 5.9GHz. Impedance bandwidth and gain is 12% and 5.6dBi.

  • In this paper, a slot-coupled microstrip antenna with switchable polarization is proposed for the polarization diversity applications in the complicated communication environment. The proposed antenna is fed by a microstrip line through one of two slots located with the interval of $\lambda{g}/4$ in the ground plane. By switching the PIN diode between opened and shorted termination which is located at the tip of the microstrip line, the switching function between horizontal and vertical polarization was confirmed experimentally. The measured resonant frequencies of the fabricated antenna are $2.41\;\cal{GHz}\;2.40\;\cal{GHz}$ and the cross polarization levels are $19\;\cal{dB},\;23\;\cal{dB},\;the\;-10\;\cal{dB}$ return loss bandwidths are $95\;\cal{MHz}\;100\;\cal{MHz}$ in horizontal and vertical polarization, respectively, and the antenna gain is almost $6\;\cal{dBi}$.
