이온빔을 이용한 마이크로/나노 가공: 모델링 (Ion Beam Induced Micro/Nano Fabrication: Modeling)

  • 3D nano-scale manufacturing is an important aspect of advanced manufacturing technology. A key element in ability to view, fabricate, and in some cases operate micro-devices is the availability of tightly focused particle beams, particularly of photons, electrons, and ions. The use of ions is the only way to fabricate directly micro-/ nano-scale structures. It has been utilized as a direct-write method for lithography, implantation, and milling of functional devices. The simulation of ion beam induced physical and chemical phenomena based on sound mathematical models associated with simulation methods is presented for 3D micro-/nanofabrication. The results obtained from experimental investigation and characteristics of ion beam induced direct fabrication will be discussed.

텅스텐 산화물의 환원을 이용한 나노/마이크로 크기 텅스텐 혼합분말 제조 (Fabrication of Tungsten Powder Mixtures with Nano and Micro Size by Reduction of Tungsten Oxides)

  • An optimum route to fabricate a hybrid-structured W powder composed of nano and micro size powders was investigated. The mixture of nano and micro W powders was prepared by a ball milling and hydrogen reduction process for $WO_3$ and W powders. Microstructural observation for the ball-milled powder mixtures revealed that the nano-sized $WO_3$ particles were homogeneously distributed on the surface of large W powders. The reduction behavior of $WO_3$ powder was analyzed by a temperature programmed reduction method with different heating rates in Ar-10% $H_2$ atmosphere. The activation energies for the reduction of $WO_3$, estimated by the slope of the Kissinger plot from the amount of reaction peak shift with heating rates, were measured as 117.4 kJ/mol and 94.6 kJ/mol depending on reduction steps from $WO_3$ to $WO_2$ and from $WO_2$ to W, respectively. SEM and XRD analysis for the hydrogen-reduced powder mixture showed that the nano-sized W particles were well distributed on the surface of the micro-sized W powders.

  • Ion implantation, photo-lithography, Ar ion milling과 hot press 법을 이용한 micro-fabrication techrique을 사용하여 고순도 알루미나 단결정인 사파이어의 내부에, 조절된 Ca의 첨가량을 갖고 있는, crack과 비슷한 형태의 기공들을 형성시켰다. 이 bi-cryslal을 각각의 온도에서 열처리하여 Ca 이온이 고온에서 알루미나의 morphology와 hcaling에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다. 열처리 온도가 올라감에 따라서 crack-like pore의 내부에 hcxagonal bridging ligaments가 생성되었는데, 열처리 온도와 Ca의 첨가량이 증가할수록 크기가 커지는 것을 관찰할 수 있었고, 생성된 hexagonal bndgmg ligaments는 열처리가 진행됨에 따라 서서히 커지면서 모서리가 둥글어지는 현상을 관찰할 수 있었다. Bicrystal 내부에 형성된 crack-like pore는 열처리가 진행되면서 edge regression. ligamcnt growth 및 flow의 3가지의 특징적인 형태로 진행되었다. 이때 edge regression은 상대적으로 저온에서부터 전체 crack-like pore에서 서서히 일어나기 시작하였으며, ligament growth는 일부 crack-like pore에서 진행되있으며, 대단히 빠른 속도로 crack healing이 진행됨을 추정할 수 있었다. Flow는 $1800^{\circ}C$ 이상의 고온에서 모든 crack-like pore에 걸쳐서 느리게 일어남을 알 수 있었다.

기계적 합금화 공정에 의한 Hf계 비정질 분말의 미세변형거동 관찰 (Micro-deformation behavior of Brittle Hf-based Metallic Glass during Mechanical Milling)

  • In this study, we investigate the deformation behavior of $Hf_{44.5}Cu_{27}Ni_{13.5}Nb_5Al_{10}$ metallic glass powder under repeated compressive strain during mechanical milling. High-density (11.0 g/cc) Hf-based metallic glass powders are prepared using a gas atomization process. The relationship between the mechanical alloying time and microstructural change under phase transformation is evaluated for crystallization of the amorphous phase. Planetary mechanical milling is performed for 0, 40, or 90 h at 100 rpm. The amorphous structure of the Hf-based metallic glass powders during mechanical milling is analyzed using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Microstructural analysis of the Hf-based metallic glass powder deformed using mechanical milling reveals a layered structure with vein patterns at the fracture surface, which is observed in the fracture of bulk metallic glasses. We also study the crystallization behavior and the phase and microstructure transformations under isothermal heat treatment of the Hf-based metallic glass.

다이아몬드 공구용 코발트계 합금 결합제의 제조 및 기계적 성질 (Fabrication Process and Mechanical Properties of Co-based Metal Bond in Diamond Impregnated Tools)

  • Diamond 공구용 Co-0.5C-(15∼20)Cr-20Ni-8W-(2∼7)Fe 합금 결합제를 볼밍링(ball-milling)법과 기계적 합금화(mechanical alloying) 법으로 합성하였다. stearic acid의 첨가 유무에 상관없이 Co-0.5C-(15∼20)Cr-20Ni-8W-(2∼7)Fe 합금의 경우 6시간 동안 합금화된 금속 분말에서 미세 접합(micro welding) 형상이 균일하게 관찰되었다. stearic acid를 첨가하지 않을 때는 부분적으로 조대화된 분말이 형성되었으나 2% 첨가한 경우 미세하고 판상의 분말이 얻어졌다. stearic acid가 첨가된 복합분말을 열간 압축하여 기계적 성질을 평가한 결과 굽힘강도 1100MPa, 경도 46H(sub)Rc의 특성을 나타냈다.

'아마데우스' 이온빔 나노 패터닝 소프트웨어와 나노 가공 특성 ('AMADEUS' Software for ion Beam Nano Patterning and Characteristics of Nano Fabrication)

  • The shrinking critical dimensions of modern technology place a heavy requirement on optimizing feature shapes at the micro- and nano scale. In addition, the use of ion beams in the nano-scale world is greatly increased by technology development. Especially, Focused ion Beam (FIB) has a great potential to fabricate the device in nano-scale. Nevertheless, FIB has several limitations, surface swelling in low ion dose regime, precipitation of incident ions, and the re-deposition effect due to the sputtered atoms. In recent years, many approaches and research results show that the re-deposition effect is the most outstanding effect to overcome or reduce in fabrication of micro and nano devices. A 2D string based simulation software AMADEUS-2D $(\underline{A}dvanced\;\underline{M}odeling\;and\;\underline{D}esign\;\underline{E}nvironment\;for\;\underline{S}putter\;Processes)$ for ion milling and FIB direct fabrication has been developed. It is capable of simulating ion beam sputtering and re-deposition. In this paper, the 2D FIB simulation is demonstrated and the characteristics of ion beam induced direct fabrication is analyzed according to various parameters. Several examples, single pixel, multi scan box region, and re-deposited sidewall formation, are given.
