  • This paper presents the fabrication of a micro electromagnetic flowmeter for liquid flow rate measurement. The flowmeter consists of a silicon flow channel with two electrodes and two permanent magnets. The micro flow channel and the detection electrodes are fabricated by the anisotropic etching of two silicon substrates and the metal evaporation process respectively. If conductive fluid passes through a magnet field, electromotive force is generated and detected by two electrodes. When the flow rate is 2.6 ml/sec, the measured output voltage is 7.4 mV.

코어 변화에 대한 자계 특성 (Magnetic Field Properties About Core Change)

  • In this paper, it tried to develop the core sensor for detection of micro magnetic field in electric wires. The sensor is non contact type and is consisted of ferrite core for low price. To investigate their properties for variations of current, it changed the number of winding and the length of sample core, it examined, to check the live wire situation in built-in wires, electrical characteristics due to difference between electric wires and core sensor. As the results, it verified live wire situation at the number of winding(5,000) and within length of 6[cm]. Also, it obtained magnetic field magnitude decreased inverse proportion ratio to a square about difference between electric wires and core sensor.

Detection of Low Cycle Fatigue in Type 316 Stainless Steel using HTS-SQUID

  • A portable RF HTS SQUID-based susceptometer was applied to the measurement of fatigue behavior for type 316L(N) stainless steel containing 0.04% to 0.15% nitrogen content. Strain-controlled low cycle fatigue (LCF) tests were conducted at RT and $600^{\circ}C$ in air an atmosphere, and the magnetic moments were measured after the fatigue test using HTS SQUID. The magnetic moment of an as-received sample is higher than that of a fatigued sample in all the temperature ranges irrespective of the nitrogen content. The fatigue life decreased with an increasing test temperature up to $500^{\circ}C$, but increased at $600^{\circ}C$. The change of the magnetic moments by LCF test is attributed to the stress induced micro defects.

금속 표면결함 검출용 자기유도 마이크로 박막 센서 (Inductive Micro Thin Film Sensor for Metallic Surface Crack Detection)

  • 비자성 및 자성 금속 시편의 표면 결함을 검출하기 위하여 교류자기장을 이용하였다. 비파괴 센서 프로브는 자성 박막 요크와 박막형 코일로 구성된 신호 검출부와 시편에 교류자기장을 인가하기 위한 단일 직선을 이용한 여기 코일로 이루어져 있다. 박막형 유도 코일 센서는 스퍼터, 전기도금, 건식 식각과 사진식각 공정을 이용하여 제작되었다. 시편에 교류자기장을 인가하기 위하여 0.7 MHz-1.8 MHz 주파수 영역에서 0.1A-1.0A의 교류전류를 여기코일에 인가하였다. 센서의 특성은 최소 0.5 mm의 깊이와 폭을 가진 인위적인 슬릿 형태 비자성체 Al과 자성체 FeC 결함 시편을 이용하여 측정하였다. 측정된 신호는 높은 감도를 갖고 결함 시편위의 슬릿결함의 위치와 일치함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 박막형 유도 코일 센서를 이용하여 마이크론 크기의 표면 결함을 가진 자성체 FeC의 시편을 비접촉 스캔하여 측정된 유도전압의 변화를 이미지화 하였으며 그 결과를 광학적 이미지와 비교하였다.

  • The design of an intelligent toothbrush, capable of monitoring brushing motion, orientation through the grip axis, during toothbrushing is described. Inappropriate Toothbrushing styles, even in adults, sometimes cause dental problems, cavities, gingivitis, etc. This smart system provides user to monitor his or her brushing pattern using accelerometer and magnetic sensors for evaluation of toothbrushing style. Directional information of toothbrush with respect to earth's magnetic field and activity data were measured by a miniaturized low-power micro- controller, MSP430 and transmitted to personal computer by 2.4GHz radio transmitter, nRF2401. A personal computer provides an on-line display of activity and orientation measurements during toothbrushing. The signal trace is then analyzed to extract clinically relevant measurement. This preliminary study showed that the proposed monitoring system was conceived to aid dental care personnel in patient education and instruction in oral hygiene regarding brushing style.

  • 본 논문에서는 패러데이의 전자기 유도 법칙을 응용한 마이크로 전자 유량 센서를 제작하였다. 마이크로전자 유량 센서는 열 발생이 없고 빠른 응답 속도를 가지고 있고 압력 손실이 없는 장점을 가지고 있다. 전도성 유체가 영구 자석 자장 내의 유로를 통과할 때, 유속에 비례하는 유도 기 전력이 발생하게 되는데, 발생된 기 전력은 유로 벽에 제작된 전극으로 검출된다. 마이크로 전자 유량 센서는 유로를 가지고 있는 두 장의 실리콘 웨이퍼 기판과 전극, 그리고 두 개의 영구 자석으로 구성되어 있다. 두 장의 실리콘 웨이퍼 기판을 이방성 식각 공정으로 유로를 제작하고, Cr/Au를 증착하여 전극을 제작한다. 제작된 마이크로 전자 유량 센서에 유량을 변화시킬 때, 발생되는 기 전력을 측정한다.

Immobilization of the Thenoyltrifluoroacetone on Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate Modified Magnetite Nanoparticles for Magnetic Solid Phase Extraction of Pb (II) from Water Samples

  • Magnetite nanoparticles ($Fe_3O_4$ NPs) were synthesized by co-precipitating method under optimized condition. The $Fe_3O_4$ NPs coated with sodium dodecyl sulfate-thenoyltrifluoroacetone ($Fe_3O_4$ NPs-SDS-TTFA) were then exerted as the magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) adsorbent for the extraction process prior to introducing to a flame atomic adsorption spectrometry (FAAS). The synthesized $Fe_3O_4$ NPs-SDS-TTFA were applied for the extraction of Pb(II) ions from different water samples. The characterization studies of nanoparticles were performed via scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive micro-analysis (SEM-EDAX), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) techniques. The substantial parameters affecting the extraction efficiency were surveyed and optimized. A dynamic linear range (DLR) of $10-400{\mu}g\;L^{-1}$ was obtained and the limit of detection (LOD, n=7) and relative standard deviation (RSD%, n= 6, $C=20{\mu}g\;L^{-1}$) were found to be $2.3{\mu}g\;L^{-1}$ and 1.9%, respectively. According to the results, the proposed method successfully applied for the extraction of Pb(II) ions from different environmental water samples and satisfactory results achieved.

BSO와 ZnSe를 광 변조기로 이용한 전류센서에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Current Sensor Using an Optical Modulator with BSO)

  • In this paper, a magneto-optic modulator has been designed by using single crystal BSO and polycrystal ZnSe as Faraday cells. And practical core-type optical current sensors using pure iron and permalloy have been prepared and experimented. In order to obtain efficient magnetic field detection, LED(NEC OD08358, 0.87 $\mu$m) was used as optical source, PIN-PD(OD-8454)as optical receiver and multi-mode optical fiber (100/140$\mu$m) as transmission line. The characteristics matrix of the optical element was calculated by Stokes parameter, and optic modulation characteristics equations were derived by Muller matrix. Electromagnetic analysis program (FLUX 2D, micro VAX 3600) by finite element method was used to find the magnetic flux density around the core. The measuring error of the output voltage to input current has been masured below 5% in the range of 50A to 1000A. As the temperature was changed from -20$^{\circ}C$ to 60$^{\circ}C$, the maximum measurement error of the optical output has been found to be 0.5% at 60$^{\circ}C$. These experimental results show good temperature and linearity characteristics. The SNR of the overall system was 47dB in case of 600A (250.2 Oe) conductor current and the system has good noise immunity.

Monitoring microRNAs Using a Molecular Beacon in CD133+/CD338+ Human Lung Adenocarcinoma-initiating A549 Cells

  • Lung cancer is the most common causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide, and a lack of effective methods for early diagnosis has greatly impacted the prognosis and survival rates of the affected patients. Tumor-initiating cells (TICs) are considered to be largely responsible for tumor genesis, resistance to tumor therapy, metastasis, and recurrence. In addition to representing a good potential treatment target, TICs can provide clues for the early diagnosis of cancer. MicroRNA (miRNA) alterations are known to be involved in the initiation and progression of human cancer, and the detection of related miRNAs in TICs is an important strategy for lung cancer early diagnosis. As Hsa-miR-155 (miR-155) can be used as a diagnostic marker for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), a smart molecular beacon of miR-155 was designed to image the expression of miR-155 in NSCLC cases. TICs expressing CD133 and CD338 were obtained from A549 cells by applying an immune magnetic bead isolation system, and miR-155 was detected using laser-scanning confocal microscopy. We found that intracellular miR-155 could be successfully detected using smart miR-155 molecular beacons. Expression was higher in TICs than in A549 cells, indicating that miR-155 may play an important role in regulating bio-behavior of TICs. As a non-invasive approach, molecular beacons could be implemented with molecular imaging to diagnose lung cancer at early stages.

근육 내 이물질 주사의 자기 공명 영상 소견: 증례 보고 (MRI Findings of Intramuscular Foreign Body Injection: A Case Report)

  • 이물질에 의한 주변조직의 반응성 변화는 염증, 부종, 액체저류, 혈종, 감염, 농양, 육아종 등의 다양한 형태를 보이며, 이물질의 종류와 시간 경과에 따라 다양한 영상소견을 보이기 때문에 연부조직 종양 등과 쉽게 혼동 할 수 있다. 자기공명 영상은 이물질의 방사선 투과성이나 음향 임피던스와 관계없이 진단할 수 있으며, 특히 주변조직의 변화를 잘 보여준다. 이에 저자들은 알약 분쇄물을 식염수와 섞어 전완에 주사한 후 발생한 종창으로 내원한 26세 여자의 자기공명 영상에서 무수히 많은 미세한 신호 강도 소실 물질과 주변의 액체저류 및 T1 저신호, T2 고신호 강도의 비균질성 조영증강 병변을 확인하였다. 이는 수술을 시행하여 흡수되지 않은 알약 분쇄물 및 주변의 액체저류와 염증반응으로 확인되었기에 이를 자기공명 영상소견과 함께 보고하고자 한다.
