Hierarchical Cellular Network Design with Channel Allocation (채널할당을 고려한 다중계층 셀룰러 네트워크 설계)

  • With the limited frequency spectrum and an increasing demand for cellular communication services, the problem of channel assignment becomes increasingly important. However, finding a conflict free channel assignment with the minimum channel span is NP hard. The innovations are cellular concept, dynamic channel assignment and hierarchical network design. We consider the frequency assignment problem and the base station placement simultaneously. Our model takes the candidate locations emanating from this process and the cost of assigning a frequency, operating and maintaining equipment as an input. Hierarchical network design using genetic algorithm is the first three-tier (Macro, Micro, Pico) model. We increase the reality through applying to Electromagnetic Compatibility Constraints. Computational experiments on 72 problem instances which have $15{\sim}40$ candidate locations demonstrate the computational viability of our procedure. The result of experiments increases the reality and covers 90% of the demand.

Development of a Submerged Propeller Turbine for Micro Hydro Power

  • This paper aims to develop a submerged propeller turbine for micro hydropower plant which allows to sustain high values of efficiency in a broad range of hydrological conditions (H=2~6 m, $Q=0.15{\sim}0.39m^3/s$). The two aspects to be considered in this development are mechanical simplicity and high-efficiency operation. Unlike conventional turbines that have spiral casing and gear box, this is directing driving and no spiral casing. A 10 kW class turbine which has the most high potential of the power generation has been developed. The most important element in the design of turbine is the runner blade. The initial blade is designed using inverse design method and then the runner geometry is modified by classical hydraulic method. The design process is carried out in two steps. First, the blade shape is fix and then other components of submerged propeller turbine are designed. Computational fluid dynamics analyses based on the Navier-Stokes equations have been used to obtain overall performance data for the blade and the full turbine, respectively. The results generated by performance parameters(head, guide vane opening angle and rotational speed) variations are theoretically analysed. The evaluation criteria for the blade and the turbine performances are the pressure distribution and flow's behavior on the runner blades and turbine. The results of simulation reveals an efficiency of 91.5% and power generation of 10.5kW at the best efficiency point at the head of 4m and a discharge of $0.3m^3/s$.

A Study on Micro-insect Screens Using Coffee Grounds (커피찌꺼기를 활용한 미세방충망 연구)

  • Due to the increase in coffee consumption, the amount of coffee grounds is also increasing, which leads to environmental problems. In order to solve these problems, this study proposes the utilisation of coffee grounds. In particular, the porous structure of coffee grounds was utilised to optimise a micro insect screen for filtering fine dust. To realize the porous structure of coffee grounds, a polar/non-polar separation method using KOH and n-hexane was applied to obtain coffee grounds with increased porosity. In addition, the composition of an eco-friendly adhesive was identified to fix the coffee grounds to the screen, and the conditions for homogeneous adhesion of the coffee grounds to the screen were optimised. As a result, we confirmed the effect of the number of coatings of coffee grounds on the filtering effect of fine dust, and found that two coatings of coffee grounds increased the filtering.

Remote Measuring System for Automobile′s ECU Self Diagnostic Signal (자동차 ECU 자기진단 신호의 원격계측 시스템)

  • In this paper. we present a new method for monitoring of ECU's self diagnostic signals of vehicle without wire. In order to measure the ECU's self diagnostic signals, the interfaced circuit is designed to communicate ECU and designed terminal according to the IOS, SAE regulation of communication protocol standard. Micro-processor 80C196KC is used for communicating ECU's self diagnositc signals and the results are sent to the wireless terminal and PC monitoring system. Wireless terminal is also developed by 80C196KC, LCD, RF module, and keypad. The command from the keypad is sent to ECU through RF module and the result show on the Graphic LCD in real time. Software on PC is developed to monitor the ECU's self diagnostic signals using the Visual C++ complier in which RS232 port is programmed by half duplex method. The algorithms for measuring the ECU's self diagnostic signals are verified to monitor both ECU and portable terminal state. At the same time, the information to fix the vehicle's problem can be shown on the developed software. The possibility for remote measurement of ECU self diagnostic signal is verified through the developed systems and algorithms.

As demand for services has expanded in the cellular segment, sever innovations have been made in order to increase the utilization of bandwidth. The innovations are cellular concept, dynamic channel assignment and hierarchical network design. Hierarchical network design holds the public eye because of increasing demand and quality of service to mobile users. We consider the frequency assignment problem and the base station placement simultaneously. Our model takes the candidate locations emanating from this process and the cost of assigning a frequency, operating and maintaining equipment as an input. In addition, we know the avenue and demand as an assumption. We propose the network about the profit maximization. This study can apply to GSM(Global System for Mobile Communication) which has 70% portion in the world. Hierarchical network design using GA(Genetic Algorithm) is the first three-tier (Macro, Micro, Pico) model, We increase the reality through applying to EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility Constraints). Computational experiments on 72 problem instances which have 15${\sim}$40 candidate locations demonstrate the computational viability of our procedure. The result of experiments increases the reality and covers more than 90% of the demand.

  • This study was carried out to improve the performance of a vertical-axis micro wind turbine. It is unique in that it has two identical generators on both sides of the main shaft. Also it has a C shape frame to fix the generators and the main shaft firmly and to provide a connection to a tower. Performance analysis of the wind turbine rotor was performed using Qblade, which is an analysis program for vertical axis wind turbines and freeware. Based on the analysis results, the blade airfoil, the chord length, and the rotor size were modified to improve the performance of the rotor. The modification was found to increase the performance of the wind turbine and to reach the targeted rated power.

  • The purpose of this paper is to describe experimental results about the T-joint welding of the high power continuous wave (CW) fiber laser for SAPH steel plate for seat frame of car. The seat rail is a part of seat frame of cars. The assembling method is mostly fix up using a bolt and nut. But this assembling method has many demerits in productivity such as increasing work process and material cost. This paper presents an experimental study about Laser T-Joint weldability of seat rail. Laser welding has many advantages in lightness and saving material costs of seat frame. The laser beam was moved along the work pieces by six axis robot with process optical fiber. The laser beam is focused with a welding head within incident angle $15{\sim}45^{\circ}$ for the purpose of the T-joint welding through two side full penetration. The range of the root gap size is less than ${\leq}0.4mm$. Optical microscopy SEM were performed to observe the micro structures and determine the structures of welded zone.

  • On-Board Diagnostic(OBD) systems are in most cars and light trucks on the load today. During the 1970's and early 1980's manufacturers started using electronic means to control engine functions and diagnose engine problems. The CARB's diagnostic requirements to meet EPA emission standards have been designated as OBD with a goal of monitoring all of the emissions-related components, as well as the chassis, body, accessory devices and the diagnostic control network of the vehicle for proper operation. In this paper, we present a remote measurement system for the wireless monitoring of diagnosis signal and sensors output signals of ECU adopted KWP2000, united the OBD communication protocol, on OBD-compliant vehicle using the wirless communication technique of Bluetooth. In order to measure the ECU signals, the interface circuit is designed to communicate ECU and designed terminal wirelessly according to the ISO, SAE regulation of communication protocol standard. A microprocessor S3C3410X is used for communicating ECU signals. The embedded system's software is programmed to measure the ECU signals using the ARM compiler and ANCI C based on MicroC/OS kernel to communicate between bluetooth modules using bluetooth stack. The diagnostic system is developed using Visual C++ MFC and protocol stack of bluetooth for Windows environment. The self-diagnosis and sensor output signals of ECU is able to monitor using PC with bluetooth board connected in serial port of PC. The algorithms for measuring the ECU sensor output and self-diagnostic signals are verified to monitor ECU state. At the same time, the information to fix the vehicle's problem can be shown on the developed monitoring software. The possibility for remote measurement of self-diagnosis and sensor signals of ECU adopted KWP2000 in embedded system verified through the developed systems and algorithms.

Performance of Fixing Agents in Controlling Micro-Stickies in Recycled Newsprint Pulp

  • The microstickes control effects of some fixing agents, including an inorganic PAC, an organic polyamine (PA) and polydiallydimethyl ammonium chloride (Pdadmac), and a high cationic starch (HCS), were investigated, together with their effects on wet end performances and physical properties of handsheets. Despite that the HCS and Pdadmac had lower cationic charge densities than the PA and PAC (the HCS being even lower), they gave higher zeta potentials to fibers, and lower turbidities, cationic demands and residual COD contents to the pulp liquid phases than the PA and PAC did. In all cases, the HCS showed even better effects than the Pdadmac. In addition, drainage speed was also much higher by the HCS treatments although paper formation was worsened. All the phenomena showed that the HCS can fix more dissolved and colloidal substances to cellulose fibers, indicating that the HCS functioned mainly with flocculation and even hydrogen bonding mechanisms. Data on optical properties further indicated that the HCS interacted preferentially with colloidal substances, since it fixed more 'dirty' microstickes to fibers which decreased more sheet brightness while increasing more sheet opacity (with both higher light absorption and scattering coefficients). Interestingly, the organic fixing agents did not decrease tensile, tearing, and folding strengths of paper sheets made from 100% recycled newsprint pulp, except when they were dosed in high amounts. On the contrary, the inorganic PAC had more serious negative effects on the strength properties, especially on folding endurance. The study suggested that proper use of the HCS can lead to better microstickies control effects than traditional agents and methods.

A Study on the Commercial Dispute Management and the ADR in the Republic of Korea -Stressed on the Trade Dispute and Commercial Arbitration- (우리나라기업의 상사분쟁관리와 ADR에 관한 연구 - 무역분쟁과 상사중재를 중심으로 -)

  • This study clearly shows that the commercial dispute management is very important for the enterprise and the national economy and the international commercial arbitration as a ADR needs to be activated to settle the trade dispute for the more in the Republic of Korea. The trade dispute has increased for more than thirty years from 1960s and the problem of the occurrence of trade dispute has been very serious in the Republic of Korea. In general, the annual average increase rate of trade dispute has been higher gradually to present and has been high more than the annual average increase rate of export from the 1960s. Also the annual average increase rate of trade dispute in R.O.K. in general high than the Japan and the Taiwan. Accordingly, the trade dispute has been the factor of weakening of international competitiveness. On the other hand, the occurrence of commercial dispute is apt to affect the enterprise and the national economy. It can be called as micro and macro effect. Also, it's analysed that all these problems occurred because of business quality of businessman than the quality problem of goods. Several improvements directions recommended are as follows according to the analyses above. The first, it's required that the consciousness level of commercial dispute management of businessman should be higher to prevent occurrence of commercial dispute and settle the dispute efficiently. The second, the government concerned had better fix policy to raise the standard of commercial dispute management since the trade dispute affects the enterprise and the national economy. And ADR institutions such as the KCAB cooperate with each other for the activation of ADR such as conciliation. The third, is's desirable that the KCAB should promote international commercial arbitration and activate the cooperation of international arbitration activity with other countries. The fourth, it's desirable that the system of Certified Dispute Manager(CDM) should be established to raise the standard of commercial dispute management and the trade order.
