A plant simulation code, MCSIM (Micro-Computer SIMulator), has been developed to simulate plant transient accidents for pressurized water reactors. Reactor coolant system is modeled using decoupled energy and momentum equations, drift flux two-phase flow model and integral momentum equation. A two-fluid pressurizer model is used to simulate the pressurizer dynamics. Pot Boiler model is used for steam generator, steady-state decoupled energy and momentum equations for secondary side system, and point kinetics equations for nuclear power calculation. For test of the present version of MCSIM, complete loss of flow and RCCA withdrawal accidents are calculated with MCSIM. The results are compared with those in FSAR of KNU 5 & 6.
The increasing interest that GEANT4 is gaining nowadays, because of its special capabilities, prompted us to address its reliability in neutronic calculation for the realistic and complex spallation target MEGAPIE of the Paul Scherrer Institute of Switzerland. In this paper we have specifically addressed the neutronic characterization of the active zone of this target. Three physical quantities are evaluated: neutron flux spectra and total neutron fluxes on target's z-axis, and the neutron yield as a function of the target's altitude and radius. Comparison of the obtained results with those of the MCNPX reference code and some experimental measurements have confirmed the impact of the geometrical and proton beam models on the neutron fluxes. It has also allowed to reveal the intrinsic influence of the code type. The resulting differences reach a factor of ~2 for the beam model and 4-18% for the other parameters cumulated. The analysis of the neutron yield has led us to conclude that: 1) Increasing the productivity of the MEGAPIE target cannot be achieved simply by increasing the thickness of the target, if the irradiation parameters are not modified. 2) The size of the spallation area needs to be redefined more precisely.
The mechanical features evaluated theoretically using Makishima-Mackenzie's model for glasses xBaO-(50-x) PbO-50P2O5 where x = 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, and 50 mol%. Wherefore, the elastic characteristics; Young's, bulk, shear, and longitudinal modulus calculated. The obtained result showed an increase in the calculated values of elastic moduli with the replacement of the PbO by BaO contents. Moreover, the Poisson ratio, micro-hardness, and the softening temperature calculated for the investigated glasses. Besides, gamma and neutron shielding ability evaluated for the barium doped lead phosphate glasses. Monte Caro code (MCNP-5) and the Phy-X/PSD program applied to estimate the mass attenuation coefficient of the studied glasses. The decrease in the PbO ratio has a negative effect on the MAC. The highest MAC decreased from 65.896 cm2/g to 32.711 cm2/g at 0.015 MeV for BPP0 and BPP7, respectively. The calculated values of EBF and EABF showed that replacement of PbO with BaO contents in the studied BPP glasses helps to reduce the number of photons accumulated inside the studied BPP glasses.

In recent times, surface texturing methods have been widely applied to reduce friction and improve the reliability of machine components such as parallel thrust bearings, mechanical face seals, and piston rings. In this study, a numerical analysis is carried out to investigate the effect of uniformly spaced hemispherical dimples on the lubrication characteristics of a slider bearing using a commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code, FLUENT. The pressure distributions, load capacity, leakage flowrate, and friction force are strongly affected by the dimple diameter and the number of dimples. In particular, the load capacity and friction force decrease linearly with the dimple density whereas the leakage increases. These results can be used for designing the optimum dimple characteristics in order to improve the lubrication performance of slider bearings, for which further studies are required.
As a micro computer or micro processor technology has been advanced, the essential part which consists of electric power system has been changed into intelligent electronic device(IED), that is one kind of embedded system. There are already many parts changed into digital from analog in control and maintenance devices of electric system. These trends make advanced and novel concepts of devices and systems, that we couldn't even imagine in the analog circumstances. Now, the rate's of change is comparatively slower than IT field that is mainly represented by mobile communication, but that is a big change in the history of electric industries. Some people in those field called it Power-IT, and there have been many kinds of researches. Accelerated systems to go digital, users always and continuously demand more convenient, practical, and new functions. So, a lot of electric system manufactures have had tasks realizing many kinds of functions in an electronic device. According to the high-end technologies in semi-conductor and micro-computer field, manufactures can fully satisfy almost all of customer's needs, but there are other kinds of problems, such as large amount of program code, increasing complexity in proportion with program amount, and the hardness of maintenance and revision of the program. So nowadays, the necessity of embedded OS was emerged as a solution, and many researchers and manufactures have concentrated on studies related to embedded OS and its application.
A micro zoom system without moving elements by use of two liquid lenses is designed and optimized in this paper. The zoom equations of the system composed of two liquid lenses are deduced. The structure parameters including radius and thickness of a conical double-liquid electrowetting based lens are analyzed and calculated. Because the liquid thickness varies non-linearly with the radius of the interface, it's very difficult to optimize a real liquid lens using commercial optical design software directly. Through the Application Programming Interface (API) of the optical design software CODE V, a zoom system with two real electrowetting based liquid lenses is modeled and optimized. A two-liquid-lens zoom system without moving elements, with a zoom factor of 1.8 and a compact structure of 10 mm is designed for illustration. This can be useful for the camera design of mobile phones, tablets and so on. And this paper presents a convenient way of designing and optimizing a zoom system including liquid lenses by commercial optical design software.
The concrete is considered as an important radiation shielding material employed widely in nuclear reactors, particle accelerators, laboratory hot cells and other different radiation sources. The present research is dedicated to the shielding properties study of the ordinary concrete reinforced with different weight fractions of lead oxide micro/nano particles. Lead oxide particles were fabricated by chemical synthesis method and their properties including the average size, morphological structure, functional groups and thermal properties were characterized by XRD, FESEM-EDS, FTIR and TGA analysis. The gamma ray mass attenuation coefficient of concrete composites has been calculated and measured by means of the Monte Carlo simulation and experimental methods. The simulation process was based on the use of MCNP Monte Carlo code where the mass attenuation coefficient (μ/ρ) has been calculated as a function of different particle sizes and filler weight fractions. The simulation results showed that the employment of the lead oxide filler particles enhances the mass attenuation coefficient of the ordinary concrete, drastically. On the other hand, there are approximately no differences between micro and nano sized particles. The mass attenuation coefficient was increased by increasing the weight fraction of nanoparticles. However, a semi-saturation effect was observed at concentrations more than 10 wt%. The experimental process was based on the fabrication of concrete slabs filled by different weight fractions of nano lead oxide particles. The mass attenuation coefficients of these slabs were determined at different gamma ray energies using 22Na, 137Cs and 60Co sources and NaI (Tl) scintillation detector. The experimental results showed that the HVL parameter of the ordinary concrete reinforced with 5 wt% of nano PbO particles was reduced by 64% at 511 keV and 48% at 1332 keV. Reasonable agreement was obtained between simulation and experimental results and showed that the employment of nano PbO particles is more efficient at low gamma energies up to 1Mev. The proposed concrete is less toxic and could be prepared in block form instead of toxic lead blocks.

he speed of microprocessor getting faster, the data transfer width between the microprocessor and the memory becomes a critical part to limit the system performance. So the study of the computer architecture with the high code density is cmerged. In this paper, a tentative Bi-Length Instruction Set Computer(BISC) that consists of 16 bit and 32 bit length instructions is proposed as the high code density 32 bit microprocessor architecture. The 32 bit BISC has 16 general purpose registers and two kinds of instructions due to the length of offset and the size of immediate operand. The proposed 32 bit BISC is implemented by FPGA, and all of its functions are tested and verified at 1.8432MHz. And the cross assembler, the cross C/C++ compiler and the instruction simulator of the 32 bit BISC are designed and verified. This paper also proves that the code density of 32 bit BISC is much higher than the one of traditional architecture, it accounts for 130~220% of RISC and 130~140% of CISC. As a consequence, the BISC is suitable for the next generation computer architecture because it needs less data transfer width. And its small memory requirement offers that it could be useful for the embedded microprocessor.
High bum-up fuel technology has been developed through a national R&D program, which covers key technology areas such as claddings, $UO_2$ pellets, spacer grids, performance code, and fuel assembly tests. New cladding alloys were developed through alloy designs, tube fabrication, out-of-pile test and in-reactor test. The new Zr-Nb tubes are found to be much better in their corrosion resistance and creep strength than the Zircaloy-4 tube, owing to an optimized composition and heat treatment of the new Zr-Nb alloys. A new fabrication technology for large grain $UO_2$ pellets was developed using various uranium oxide seeds and a micro-doping of Al. The uranium oxide seeds, which were added to $UO_2$ powder, were prepared by oxidizing and heat-treating scrap $UO_2$ pellets. A $UO_2$ pellet containing tungsten channels was fabricated for a thermal conductivity enhancement. For the fuel performance analysis, new high burnup models were developed and implemented in a code. This code was verified by an international database and our own database. The developed spacer grid has two features of contoured contact spring and hybrid mixing vanes. Mechanical and hydraulic tests showed that the spacer grid is superior in its rodsupporting, wear resistance and CHF performance. Finally, fuel assembly test technology was also developed. Facilities for mechanical and thermal hydraulic tests were constructed and are now in operation. Several achievements are to be utilized soon by the Korea Nuclear Fuel and thereby contribute to the economy and safety of PWR fuel in Korea
Currently, the dose distribution calculation used by commercial treatment planning systems (TPSs) for high-dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy is derived from point and line source approximation method recommended by AAPM Task Group 43 (TG-43). However, the study of Monte Carlo (MC) simulation is required in order to assess the accuracy of dose calculation around three-dimensional Ir-192 source. In this study, geometry factor was calculated using segmented sources integration method by dividing microSelectron HDR Ir-192 source into smaller parts. The Monte Carlo code (MCNPX 2.5.0) was used to calculate the dose rate $\dot{D}(r,\theta)$ at a point ($r,\theta$) away from a HDR Ir-192 source in spherical water phantom with 30 cm diameter. Finally, anisotropy function and radial dose function were calculated from obtained results. The obtained geometry factor was compared with that calculated from line source approximation. Similarly, obtained anisotropy function and radial dose function were compared with those derived from MCPT results by Williamson. The geometry factor calculated from segmented sources integration method and line source approximation was within 0.2% for $r{\geq}0.5$ cm and 1.33% for r=0.1 cm, respectively. The relative-root mean square error (R-RMSE) of anisotropy function obtained by this study and Williamson was 2.33% for r=0.25 cm and within 1% for r>0.5 cm, respectively. The R-RMSE of radial dose function was 0.46% at radial distance from 0.1 to 14.0 cm. The geometry factor acquired from segmented sources integration method and line source approximation was in good agreement for $r{\geq}0.1$ cm. However, application of segmented sources integration method seems to be valid, since this method using three-dimensional Ir-192 source provides more realistic geometry factor. The anisotropy function and radial dose function estimated from MCNPX in this study and MCPT by Williamson are in good agreement within uncertainty of Monte Carlo codes except at radial distance of r=0.25 cm. It is expected that Monte Carlo code used in this study could be applied to other sources utilized for brachytherapy.
