  • In our research, we designed a small step motor with 2-phase structure and a micro step driving IC, which is used in an automotive instrument. The step motor for the automotive instrument has the better advantages than a cross coil type motor. These advantages are the characteristics with a good linearity, a fine accuracy, a low noise and so on.

  • We investigate micro-tip properties as Ni-Co plating and CMP processes for MEMS probe card and units. The micro-tip are fabricated by using Ni-Co plating machine, lapping machine, and chemo-mechanical polisher. In order to get high conductive and reliable micro-tip, we control Co contents and thickness by CMP speed. We have found that about 20-25% of Co contents are required and have to lapping speed of 30 rpm. Also, we investigate photolithography and Ni-Co plating processes conditions for the one-step and the three-step micro-tips.

  • A simple method is presented for fabricating micro/nanoscale combined hierarchical structures using a two-step UV-assisted capillary molding technique. This lithographic method consists of two steps: (i) fabrication of partially cured polymer microstructures using a PDMS mold and (ii) subsequent nanofabrication using a high-resolution polyurethane acrylate (PUA) mold on top of the pre-formed microstructures. Using this technique, various micro/nano hierarchical structures were fabricated with minimum resolution down to 70 nm over a large area with very good reproducibility.

  • In this study, we have developed a new UV$({\lambda}=355nm)$ laser micromachining technology by direct ablation method without masks. This technology allows that 3D micro parts can be fabricated rapidly and efficiently with a low price. And it has a benefit of reducing fabricating process simply. Due to micro parts' fabrication, such technologies need the control of XYZ stages with high precision, the design of optical devices to maintain micron spot sizes of laser beam and the control technology of laser focus. The developed laser manufacturing process for laser micromachining is that, after extracting coordinates of shape data from CAD model data, a beam path considering manufacturing features of laser beam is created by using genetic algorithm. This generated manufacturing process is sent to stage controller. In order to improve the surface quality of micro parts, we have carried out experiments on iteration manufacturing and beam step-over by using a minimum focus size. Moreover, we have fabricated a micro-channel through the developed laser micromachining technology and verified it through the results.

  • After finding the harmonic components by measuring the thrust force, which affects high accuracy position control during micro-step drive of LPM, the exciting current was calculated to remove them. Also the detent force being induced by magnetic flux density of permanent magnetic was measured. It was comfirmed that the tooth and slot width was designed properly thresh the analysis of detent force.

  • In this paper Research development about a micro metal forming manufacturing system has been developed. A micro forming system has been achieved in Japan and it's developed micro press is limited to single forming process. To coincide with the purpose to be more practical, research and development is necessary about the press which the multi forming process is possible. We set the development of the equipment including micro deep drawing, micro punching and micro restriking process to the goal. To achieve this goal, we set the application product to a micro thin foil valve which is used in the micro pump module. The compound die set has been designed and manufactured to make two step process. The material of thin foil valve is SUS-304 and its thickness is 50$\mu$m. We can get a good forming results from micro punching experiments in this paper.

  • UV laser micromachining is generally used to create microstructures for micro-products through a sequence of lithography-based photo-patterning steps. However, the micromachining process is not suitable for rapid realization of complex 3D micro-products because it depends on worker experience. In addition, the cost and time required to make many masks are excessive. In this paper, a more effective and rapid micro-manufacturing process, which was developed based on laser micromachining, is proposed for fabricating micro-products directly using UV laser ablation and phase-change filling. The filling process is useful for holding the micro-products during the ablation step. The proposed rapid micro-manufacturing process was demonstrated experimentally by fabricating 3D micro-products from functional UV-sensitive polymers using 3D CAD data.

In this paper, the more effective micro rapid manufacturing process, which is developed upon the base of laser micromachining, is proposed to fabricate micro products directly using UV laser ablation and phase change filling. The filling process is useful to hold the micro product during the next ablation step. The proposed micro rapid manufacturing process is also proven experimentally that enables to fabricate the 3D micro products of UV sensitive polymer from 3D CAD data to functional micro parts.

  • Tungsten-carbide as typical difficult-to-cut material has excellent mechanical properties such as high thermal resistivity, mechanical strength and chemical durability. However, it is next to impossible for tungsten-carbide to be fabricated the needed parts by cutting process. In this study, for establishing the micro fabrication method of tungsten-carbide for micro injection or compression molding core, the investigation on micro cutting characteristics of tungsten-carbide green part which is made by powder injection molding process and easy to cut relatively was performed. For this, micro endmilling experiments of tungsten-carbide green part were performed according to various cutting conditions. Finally, the wear trend of micro endmill and the appearance of micro rib according to feed-rate and cutting depth per step were analyzed through SEM images of micro cutting feature and microscope images of micro tools.
