  • Sun power generation systems which use large capacity centralized inverters have loss of power generation due to cloud and building shadows, pollution, cell deterioration, etc. To minimize loss of power generation, decentralized solar power systems using multiple micro-inverters are being proposed as an alternative. A distributed solar power system consisting of a system-connected system uses power line communication to collect data from the micro-inverters. Power line communication has the advantage of using power lines without separate lines for data transmission, but in distributed solar power generation systems that use a large number of micro-inverters, the bit error rate is less reliable due to the phenomenon caused by limited transmission power, high load interference and noise, variable signal attenuation, and impedance characteristics. So we proposed wireless intelligent controller for micro-inverter that is used to build distributed solar power systems. and we design and implement that. Further, the proposed wireless intelligent controller for micro-inverter was used to establish a small-volume solar power plant to check its function and operation.

  • Thanks to the breakthroughs in micro fabrication technology, numerous concepts of micro aerospace systems including micro aerial vehicle, nano satellite and micro robot have been proposed. In order to activate these mobile micro systems, high density power in a small scale power source is required. However, we still do not have micro power source that has energy density that can support these systems. In the present article, status of micro power sources are described and alternatives that have been derived from the past experience are proposed.

  • Micro-Grid comprising Micro-Sources supplying several $kW{\sim}MW$ power to local customers is environmentally friendly and reliable. This paper deals with the development of simulation models of Micro-Grid on the PSCAD/EMTDC platform for analyzing various aspects of the interaction of the Micro-Grid. The developed switching level model adopts the space vector PWM. Both switching level and power frequency Micro-Source models are developed, which shows that power frequency modeling is sufficient for analyzing the phenomena of interest. Control characteristics of the Micro-Sources with the parameter and load power variation are analyzed for power quality enhancement. The simulation results show that the developed models are effective for studying Micro-Grid.

  • The concept of the Micro-Grid comprising Micro-Sources supplying both heat and power ranging from several [KW] to 1[MW] to local customers is proposed by CERTS(Consortium for Electric Reliability Technology Solutions). Micro-Sources adopt environmentally friendly and reliable power sources such as Fuel-Cell and Micro-Turbines. Micro-Sources adopt voltage source inverter with AC grid system in order to provide independent real and reactive power control for premium power quality. Thus Micro-Source needs series inductance for interfacing with AC grid system. With this reason, we propose a technique that can decide the optimal size of the inductor for effective transfer of the power into the grid.

  • The Roordynamic feasibility of Micro Power System supported by air foil bearings is investigated. The Micro Power System is new portable power source based on brayton cycle, which consists of compressor, turbine, generator, and combustion chamber. In this paper, the analysis of Rotordynamic characteristics of Micro Power System is performed based upon the bearing equilibrium position, Campbell diagram and stability. As a result, it is demonstrated that the air foil bearings could be adopted well to the Micro Power System. However, for more stable operation at target running speed, the damping characteristics of air foil bearing should be enhanced.

  • Among many other alternative energy resources, small scale hydro power has been brought into attention as a reliable source of energy today, which had been relatively neglected since 1960s. Especially, Kaplan micro-turbine can be applied to various kind of small hydro power plants, such as reservoirs for agriculture purpose, sewage treatment plants and water purification plants. However present low head of Kaplan micro-turbines and small scale hydro turbines, have limitations in the minimum required head and flow rate for efficient operation. This research is to develop modeling analysis for the Kaplan micro-turbine, which can improve economical features of small hydro power plants. The contents and scope of this research are the efficiency improvement of Kaplan micro-turbine.

  • Recently, the demand for micro hard disk drive that provides high-capacity removable storage for handhold electronic devices is growing very rapidly Reducing power consumption is one of the primary control objectives in micro disk drives. The input power delivered to the seek servo system is consumed as heat by the transistors of power amplifier and motor coil resistance. In this paper, we present a new seek servo controller for minimizing the power consumption. We use a Fourier decomposition and nonlinear programming to determine the optimum seek profile that minimizes the power consumption. Also, the trajectory tracking controller is developed for exact tracking of the optimum seek profile. Finally, we present some experimental results using a commercially available micro disk drive in order to demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed controller.
