This paper introduces scarf welding process of thin substrates using flexible laser transmission welding (f-LTW) technology. We examined the behavior of tensile strength relative to the scarf angle for flexible applications. Thin plastic substrates with the thickness of less than 100 ㎛ were bonded and a jig to form a slope at the edge of the substrate was developed. By developing the scarf welding process, we successfully created a flexible bonding technology that maintains joint's thickness after the process. The tensile strength of the joint was assessed through uniaxial test, and we found that the tensile strength increases as the slope of bonding interface decreases. By conducting stress analysis at the bonding interface with respect to the slope angle, design factor of bonding structure was investigated. These findings suggest that the tensile strength depends on the geometry of the joint, even under the same process conditions, and highlights the significance of considering the geometry of the joint in welding processes.

This study has been made to investigate Behavior of the fatigue crack propagation for the purpose of taking into consideration the fatigue behavior Which initiate and propagate in tip of defect of the defected specimens, Which Contain the micro-hole or micro-slit. Especially, the specimens have been conducted with high-freguency heat treatment of 850.deg. C, 1050.deg. C to consider strength elevation of defected specimens. The results of this study are as follow; (1) The case of the same in the length of crack, the fatigue crack propagation rate of the micro-slit is always faster than that of micre-hole. But, the first step of the fatigue crack propagation it is not always so. (2) Fatigue crack propagation rate of specimens with micro-slit or micro-hole which have been treated with high-frequency heat treatment satisfy the following formula between the fatigue crack propagation rate and nominal stress; dl/dN .var..sigma.$^{m}$ *l$^{n}$ .
The objectiveness of this study was to evaluate whether low-viscosity composite can bond effectively to dentin surface without bonding resin. The low-viscosity composites being 50wt% filler content were made by the inclusion of bonding resin of two self-etching systems(Cleafil SE Bond, Unifil Bond) varied with contents as 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50wt%. Exposed dentin surfaces of extracted 3rd molars are used. Dentin bond strengths were measured. The tests were carried out with a micro-shear device placed testing machine at a CHS of 1mm/min after a low-viscosity composite was filled into an iris cut from micro tygon tubing with internal diameter approximately 0.8mm and height of 1.0mm. 1 Flexural strength and modulus was increased with the addition of bonding resin. 2. Micro-shear bond strength to dentin was improved according to content of bonding resin irrespective of applying or not bonding resin in bonding procedure, and that of Clearfil SE Bond groups was higher than Unifil Bond. 3. There were no significant difference whether use of each bonding resin in bonding procedure for S-40, S-50, U-50(p>0.05). 4. In SEM examination, resin was well infiltrated into dentin after primed with self-etching primer only for S-50 and U-50 in spite of the formation of thinner hybrid layer. Low viscosity composite including some functional monomer may be used as dentin bonding resin without an intermediary bonding agent. It makes a simplified bonding procedure and foresees the possibility of self-adhesive restorative material.

Past few years have seen the growing importance of micro shock tubes in various engineering applications like micro combution, micro propulsion, particle delivery systems. But in order to efficiently apply Micro Shock Tube to such areas require the detailed knowledge of shock characteristics and flow field inside a micro shock tube. Due to many factors such as boundary layer, low Reynolds number and high Knudsen number shock propagation inside micro shock tubes will be quite different from that of the well established macro shock tubes. In the present study, experimental studies were carried out on micro shock tubes of two diameters to investigate flow characteristics and shock propagation. Pressure values were measured at different locations inside the driven section. From the experimental values other parameters like shock velocity, shock strength were found and shock wave diagram was constructed.

Recent years have witnessed the use of micro shock tube in various engineering applications like micro combustion, micro propulsion, particle delivery systems etc. The flow characteristics occurring in the micro shock tube shows a considerable deviation from that of well established conventional macro shock tube due to very low Reynolds number and high Knudsen number effects. Also the diaphragm rupture process, which is considered to be instantaneous process in many of the conventional shock tubes, will be crucial for micro shock tubes in determining the near diaphragm flow field and shock formation. In the present study, an axi-symmetric CFD method has been applied to simulate the micro shock tube, with Maxwell's slip velocity and temperature jump boundary conditions. The effects of finite diaphragm rupture process on the flow field and the shock formation was investigated, in detail. The results show that the shock strength attenuates rapidly as it propagates through micro shock tubes.
The application of multi-variable adaptive regression spline (MARS) in predicting he long-term compressive strength of a concrete with various admixtures has been investigated in this study. The compressive strength of concrete specimens, which were made based on 24 different mix designs using various mineral and chemical admixtures in different curing ages have been obtained. First, The values of fly ash (FA), micro-silica (MS), water-reducing admixture (WRA), coarse and fine aggregates, cement, water, age of samples and compressive strength were defined as inputs to the model, and MARS analysis was used to model the compressive strength of concrete and to evaluate the most important parameters affecting the estimation of compressive strength of the concrete. Next, the proposed equation by the MARS method using particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm has been optimized to have more efficient equation from the economical point of view. The proposed model in this study predicted the compressive strength of the concrete with various admixtures with a correlation coefficient of R=0.958 rather than the measured compressive strengths within the laboratory. The final model reduced the production cost and provided compressive strength by reducing the WRA and increasing the FA and curing days, simultaneously. It was also found that due to the use of the liquid membrane-forming compounds (LMFC) for its lower cost than water spraying method (SWM) and also for the longer operating time of the LMFC having positive mechanical effects on the final concrete, the final product had lower cost and better mechanical properties.

Recently the effect of CPP-ACP on early caries remineralization and prevention has hashbeen extensively researched. However, there has been a lack of research on micro-shear bond strength of a sealant applied on a CPP-ACP treated surface. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of CPP-ACP on the micro-shear bond strength of a sealant bonded with 3 different bonding systems. From the sound human 3rd molars, the 150 specimens were prepared and randomly assigned to six groups. Group I: Immersion in artificial saliva for 2 weeks + 35% phosphoric acid Group II: Immersion in artificial saliva for 2 weeks + 35% phosphoric acid + dentin bonding agent Group III: Immersion in artificial saliva for 2 weeks + self-etching adhesive Group IV: CPP-ACP application for 2 weeks + 35% phosphoric acid Group V: CPP-ACP application for 2 weeks + 35% phosphoric acid + dentin bonding agent Group VI: CPP-ACP application for 2 weeks + self-etching adhesive Sealant was applied and the micro-shear bond strength was measured. From the result of this study, it can be assumed that the CPP-ACP pretreatment can weaken the bond strength of a sealant if the enamel surface is conditioned with self-etch adhesive.

In this paper, various kinds of epoxy based nanocomposites were made and AC breakdown properties of nano-$TiO_2$ and micro-silica filler mixture of epoxy based composites were studied by sphere to sphere electrode. Moreover, nano- and micro-filler combinations were adopted as an approach toward practical application of nanocomposite insulating materials. AC breakdown test was performed at room temperature $(25^{\circ}C)$, $80^{\circ}C$ and $100^{\circ}C$. The result shows breakdown strength about non-filled, nano-scale $TiO_2$, micro-scale silica and nano-$TiO_2$, micro-silica filled epoxy composites.

An injection molding is necessary to mass-product for micro-nano system, so micro-nano mold must be developed for injection molding. The micro-nano mold has precision and strength to overcome a surround of injection. So in this paper, two methods were used. First, after etching the Al, Ni was electroplated in etched AI. The other, LIGA method was used. A temperature and thickness of Ni are important factors in these methods. So after fabrication, the simulation was processed to find optimal thickenss of Ni and temperature.
Micro tensile test is the most direct and convenient method to measure material properties such as Young's modulus and fracture strength. It, however, needs more accurate measurement system, mote stable and repetitive alignment and more sensitive gripping than conventional tensile test. Many researchers have put their effort on overcoming these difficulties for tile development of micro tensile tester, fabricating micro specimens of functional materials and measuring their properties. This paper will review the related vigorous researches over the world in the recent decade and explain how to apply them to a design of the fester which is under our own development.
