Systematic Design Method of Fuzzy Logic Controllers by Using Fuzzy Control Cell (퍼지제어 셀을 이용한 퍼지논리제어기의 조직적인 설계방법)

  • A systematic procedure to design fuzzy PID controllers is developed in this paper. The concept of local fuzzy control cell is proposed by introducing both an adequate global control rule and membership functions to simplify a fuzzy logic controller. Fuzzy decision is made by using algebraic product and parallel firing arithematic mean, and a defuzzification strategy is adopted for improving the computational efficiency based on nonfuzzy micro-processor. A direct method, transforming the typical output of quasi-linear fuzzy operator to the digital compensator of PID form, is also proposed. Finally, the proposed algorithm is applied to an DC-servo motor. It is found that this algorithm is systematic and robust through computer simulations and implementation of controller using Intel 8097 micro-processor.

  • In this paper, we designed and built a wired temperature controller system which is based on ASIC for a wireless temperature controller system based on FPGA. FPGA devices and wireless controller systems are growing quickly especially for industrial systems for sensing temperature and humidity. FPGA can set up a desired system and a CPU, and directly set up or change a peripheral device based on an IP quickly for an affordable price. This wireless system is easy to install in the field where there are lots of changes and the system is complex. It also has advantages for maintenance. In this study, we are using a 32 bit RISC CPU based on MicroBlaze, with a touch interface, peripheral device, and porting the embedded Linux. Also, we added wireless communication using ZigBee. With this system we provide remote monitoring and control through the web by adding a web server. Compared to the original system, we say not only a performance improvement, but also more efficient development and cheaper costs. In this study, we focused especially on building a better development environment and a more effective user interface.

New Control Method for Power Decoupling of Electrolytic Capacitor-less Photovoltaic Micro-Inverter with Primary Side Regulation

  • This paper presents a novel power decoupling control scheme with the bidirectional buck-boost converter for primary-side regulation photovoltaic (PV) micro-inverter. With the proposed power decoupling control scheme, small-capacitance film capacitors are used to overcome the life-span and reliability limitations of the large-capacitance electrolytic capacitors. Then, an improved flyback PV inverter is employed in continuous conduction mode with primary-side regulation for the PV power conditioning. The proposed power-decoupling controller shares the reference for primary side current regulation of the flyback PV inverter. The decoupling controller shapes the input current of the bidirectional buck-boost converter. The shared reference eliminates the phase-delay between the input current to the bidirectional buck-boost converter and the double frequency current at the PV primary current. The elimination of the phase-delay in dynamic response enhances the ripple rejection capability of the power decoupling buck-boost converter even with small film capacitor. With proposed power decoupling control scheme, the additional advantage of the primary-side regulation of flyback PV inverter is that there is no need to have an extra current sensor for obtaining the ripplecurrent reference of the decoupling current-controller of the power-decoupling buck-boost converter. Therefore, the proposed power decoupling control scheme is cost-effective as well as the size benefit. A new transient analysis is carried out which includes the source voltage dynamics instead of considering the source voltage as a pure voltage source. For verification of the proposed control scheme, simulation and experimental results are presented.

  • The neuromorphic technology has been researched for decades, which learns and processes the information by imitating the human brain. The hardware implementations of neuromorphic systems are configured with highly parallel processing structures and a number of simple computational units. It can achieve high processing speed, low power consumption, and low hardware complexity. Recently, the interests of the neuromorphic technology for low power and small embedded systems have been increasing rapidly. To implement low-complexity hardware, it is necessary to reduce input data dimension without accuracy loss. This paper proposed a low-complexity artificial intelligent engine which consists of parallel neuron engines and a feature extractor. A artificial intelligent engine has a number of neuron engines and its controller to process multimodal sensor data. We verified the performance of the proposed neuron engine including the designed artificial intelligent engines, the feature extractor, and a Micro Controller Unit(MCU).

Study of Modulation Effect in Integrated Interface Under Controlling Switching Light-Emitting Diode Lighting Module

  • This study was carried out to solve problems such as radio frequency band depletion, confusion risk, and security loss in existing visible wireless communication systems, and to determine the applicability of next-generation networks. A light-emitting diode (LED) light communication system was implemented with a controlling switching light module using the ATmega16 micro-controller. To solve the existing modulation effect and disturbance in visible light communication, an integrated interface was evaluated with a driving light module and analyzes its reception property. A transmitter/receiver using the ATmel's micro-controller, high-intensity white LED-6 modules, and infrared sensor KSM60WLM and visible sensor TSL250RD were designed. An experiment from the initial value of distance to 2.5 m showed 0.46 V of the voltage loss, and if in long distance, external light interference occurred and light intensity was lost by external impact and thus data had to be modified or reset repeatedly. Additionally, when we used 6 modules through the remote controller's lighting dimming, data could be transmitted up to 1.76 m without any errors during the day and up to 2.29 m at night with around 2~3% communication error. If a special optical filter can reduce as much external light as possible in the integrated interface, the LED for lighting communication systems may be applied in next generation networks.

  • The ultrasonic piezo motor is a new type motor that has an excellent performance and many useful features that electromagnetic motors do not have. But, it suffers from severe system non-linearities and parameter variations especially during speed control. Therefore, it is difficult to accomplish satisfactory control performance by using the conventional PID controller. In this paper, to achieve the precise control for linear type ultrasonic motor was analyzed as a function of response time and change with a driving time. Also, we propose controller that combines STEP controller and PD controller that have error of ${\mu}m$ about liner type ultrasonic motor.

Multi-Body Dynamic Modeling for a Flexible Rotor and Vibration Control using a Novel Phase Adjusting Technique (유연 회전축의 다물체 동역학 모델링 및 위상 조절법을 이용한 진동 제어)

  • This article proposes a new technique of the dynamic model using multi-body dynamic analysis tool for a flexible main spindle rotor system with a novel phase adjusting control technique for the purpose of an active control of rotor vibration. The dynamic model is used as a plant model. Also in order to make control system, a component parameters and phase controller is composed and simulated by SIMULINK. The vibration is reduced to 50%. Therefore the ADAMS dynamic model for the flexible main spindle rotor and the phase adjusting control techniques may be effective for the suppressing the vibration and helpful for the future active control for rotor vibration.

Development of 3D Burr Measurement Technique using Conoscopic Holography (Conoscopic Holography를 이용한 3D Burr 측정기술 개발)

  • For the burrs formed in machining are irregular and very sharp in shape, it is usually very difficult to measure burr accurately. It was proved that micro burr geometry can be measured imprecision by the Conoprobe sensor using conoscopic holography method. We developed 3D burr measurement system using this sensor. The system is composed of Conoprobe sensor, XY table, controller and 3D measurement program. Some measurements using the developed system are conducted for the burrs formed in micro drilling and piercing. Specific software fur burr measurement includes several function, calculation of burr volume, average burr height. Burs formed on a curved surface were compensated and measured successfully using the basic surface compensation function.

  • 본 논문에서는 자율신경망 중 ART2(Adaptive Resonance Theory 2)를 이용하여 지문의 매칭알고리즘에 적용하였다. 지문의 영상을 센서로부터 입력 받아, 전 처리와 후처리 과정을 거친 후 각각의 지문에 대한 특징값을 구하고, 지문 영상을 분류 및 매칭 할 수 있도록 하였다. 다음으로 제시한 알고리즘을 바탕으로 PC(Personal Computer) 없이 독립적으로 사용 할 수 있는 실시간 임베디드 지문 인식 시스템을 구현 하였다. 실시간 임베디드 지문 인식 시스템 설계에 있어 크기와 기능면을 고려해 메인 모듈의 프로세서로 최근 신호 처리에 많이 사용되고 있는 DSP(Digital Signal Processor)를 사용 하였으며, 지문을 입력 받기 위한 센서로는 반도체 지문 센서를 사용하였다. 메인 모듈과 센서를 가지고 간단한 디스플레이 및 통신 테스트를 위해 PIC Micro-Processor를 사용해 컨트롤 보드를 제작하여 간단한 인식 테스트를 하였다. 제작한 보드를 가지고 다양한 어플리케이션이 가능하나, 본 논문에서는 하드웨어나 소프트웨어 개발에 사용 가능한 RDK(Reference Design Kit)를 최종으로 구현하였다.

Five-DOF Polymer Actuator Based on Dielectric Elastomer

  • In this paper, we present a five-DOF actuator based on dielectric elastomer. The actuator is designed for generating five DOFs motions to drive a micro camera steering module and provides all the functions for controlling CCD array such as focusing, pan and tilting. Basic modeling of the actuator is performed, and simulation works and experimental verifications are conducted, too. The camera steering module includes most parts necessary for driving the actuator such as a micro-controller and DC-DC converter, etc. It can be operated with a personal computer using only communication lines without external power supply. A prototype is developed and its performance is experimentally proved. $\textbullet$ artificial muscle, EAP, actuator.
