Compliant Micro Actuator made from Dielectric Polymer

  • In this paper, we discusses compliant actuators those are made of electrostrictive polymer. Electrostrictive polymer actuators(EPAs) are based on the deformation of dielectric elastomer polymer in the presence of an electric field. We address actual design and fabrication method of an actuator using the electrostrictive polymer. We have developed primitive prototypes of the actuator using elastic restoring force. And they actuators have 1 to 3 DOF, 1 DOF actuators are simple linear actuators and 3 DOF actuator has linear actuation and steering capability. They are simple in structure with lightweight, high trust, force and large stroke. Basic design principles and experimental procedures for confirming their performance will be introduced.

  • In this paper, as an ideal test bed for studies on multi-agent system, the multiple micro robot soccer playing system is introduced at first. The construction of such experimental system has involved lots of kinds of challenges such as sensors fusing, robot designing, vision processing, motion controlling, and especially the cooperation planning of those robots.   • Digital Polymer Motor (DPM) based on dielectric elastomer is presented. It includes all the supplementary parts for actuation such as micro-controller, DC-DC converter etc. DPM can be operated by itself with the program embedded and controlled via serial interface with PC. The actuator accomplishes bidirectional actuation and compliance controllability, which are important characteristics for a biomimetic artificial muscle actuator. DPM accomplish these requirements without any mechanical substitute or complicated algorithms.   • Using back electro-motive force(EMF) signals of a brushless DC motor, the sensorless micro-processor controlled drive system was developed. In this new commutation method, the manual pulses are used for relatively short accelerating phase and then the exact commutational positions are detected based upon the back emf signals. The hardware and software implementations with the experiment to compare the performance of the developed system with the, conventional system using hall effect sensors are included. By reducing the number of the required sensors in the artificial heart control system, the total reliability will be incresed.

  • Recently, the digital circuit technique has had great success and gained importance in all industries. For the measurement of degree of freshness of plant and animal's tissue, many devices has been developed. But it's data was inaccurate and it had difficulty in making database because it was depend on analog circuit technique. The purpose of this paper is the development of a device based on digital circuit for measurement of freshness degree of wet fish such that its accuracy is very trustworthy and it can be measured in a short time. The device is developed by using micro-computer with some interface modules of A-D/D-A converter and digital circuit with IC modules and its effectiveness has been evaluated through two experimental results of electrical Q-value test and chemical K-value test.

  • It is important from prevention of the malfunction and an important accident by the failuer, to detect a failuer in revolution devices. The acoustic emission(AE) method is expected as means that defects an abnormal phenomenon of revolution devices earlily and utilized. Although a research example by the AE method is reported regarding a gears, little reserch has been conducted using the AE method for running gears in a bending fatigue process of spur gear teeth. Therefore, in this report, with two micro AE sensors attached to the side of the gear, AE was measured in a bending fatigue process of a carburizing gear by using the power circurating-type machine and AE source location in gear teeth were required. By various analysis in these data, the AE characteristics in the fatigue damaging process of the gear tooth were determined.

  • 시스템을 입력과 출력값 만으로 제어하고자 할 경우에는, 플랜트의 파라메타를 추정하면서 제어해 나가야 할 것이다. 이러한 경우에는, 귀환제어나 최적제어 형태로는 여러가지 문제점이 발견되어서, 최근에 적응제어가 많이 연구되고 있다. 이에는 Gain-Scheduling 방법, Self-tuning regulator 방법 및 model reference adaptive control 방법이 있다. Gain-Scheduling 방법은 미지의 파라메타가 plant에 있을지라도, 이를 즉시 예측할 수 있을 경우 보조변수 추정을 통하여 이득을 조절하여 시스템을 안정시키는 것이고, self tuning regulator는 보조변수를 직접 조정하여 시스템을 제어한다. 또 model reference adaptive control 방법은 기준모델을 정하여, 이에 따라 관측기 등을 통하여, 플랜트의 파라메타를 추정 제어해 나가는 것이다. 이때 기준 모델의 출력과 플랜트 출력사이의 오차를 어떻게 할 것인가? 추정되는 파라메타와 오차와의 대수관계 및 차수 등, 그 한계 해석이 최근의 MRAC 설계연구에 큰 과제가 되어 왔다. 이에 본 연구에서는 신호합성 및 해석에 뛰어난 기능이 있는 Walsh 함수를 이용하여, 간단한 Micro computer의 도움으로, 오차 함수를 합성하고, 미지의 파라메타를 추정하여, 시스템의 adaptive filter설계에의 가능성에 대하여 연구하고자 한다. 또 이를 실제 예를 들어 고찰하였다.

  • This paper is about the Inverse Jacobian for the TOP-1 robot. The robot Jacobian is used for the movement in accordance with differental changes. A Matrix and Homogeneous Transformation Matrix, Differential Motion Vector D are applied to Jacobian equation for the movement of the robot in accordance with the minut changes. The solution of Jacobian equation is acquired and applied for the subtle movement of each arms of the robot. The interface with APPLE-II Micro-computer is searched out too. The Software and the interface resulted from this paper are considered to be higly useful in the accurate control on the robot when they are linked with dynamics of robot.

  • For the robot manipulator in performing precision task, it is indispensable that the robot utilize the various sensors for intelligence. This paper presents the development and implementation of an integrated control system for the control of robotic manipulator, a feeder, a conveyor belt system, force/torque sensor system, and a photo sensor system. Micro controller board was constructed for hierarchical control of the system. To set up the program interactively, a user can make use of the software which includes the full-down menu and a dialog box. The user can make progress the program quickly and easily by a mouse. The related software was written in C and assembly languages.
