A Fuzzy Microprocessor for Real-time Control Applications

  • A Fuzzy Microprocessor(FMP) is presented, which is suitable for real-time control applications. The features include high speed inference of maximum 114K FLIPS at 20MHz system clocks, capability of up to 128-rule construction, and handing of 8 input variables with 8-bit resolution. In order to realize these features, the fuzzifier circuit and the processing element(PE) are well optimized for LSI implementation. The chip fabricated in 1.2$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS technology contains 71K transistors in 82.8 $\textrm{mm}^2$ die size and is packaged in 100-pin plastic QFP.

  • This is experimental result which is reported with use the dsPIC30F2020 16-Bit SMPS microprocessor of MicroChip company which composes a digital control circuit and it applies in switched-mode power supply unit. The basic topology consist of the synchronous rectifier in a two transistor forward converter. In a experiment, it is used from microprocessor to do with A/D conversion and it is embodied with PID controls in order to detect a over-current, over-voltage, over-temperature and output voltage.

  • This paper proposes a new concept's IDSFHA(Intelligent Digital Switchgear For Home Automation) which can obtain the safety, the reliability and the easy to correspond to the request of the general electric customer or electric power company under the ubiquitous-based home automation environments The IDSFHA is designed by analyzing their requirement functions, a 32-bit micro processor is adopted as main controller to support efficiently the designed functions. The single phase power IC(ADE7753) is utilized to collect the electric power information, and makes it possible to communicate as internet among the IDSFHA and their using the ethernet convertor. In the proposed IDSFHA, the several functions are implemented such as the earth leakage level display and waveform transmitting, the electric power using fee display, voltage management, load management and load control function. Finally, the prototype of the IDSFHA is made experimently based on the designed results.

  • 기존의 Passenger Boarding Bridge Controller는 PLC Type Controller 등으로 복합적으로 구성하는데 본 연구에서는 16bit Micro Processor를 이용한 전용 콘트롤러를 적용해 각종 고급기능을 부여하고, 안전하고 유연한 운전이 가능하도록 하였고 기존의 수동 운전에 필요한 각종 조작 스위치를 부가하였으며, TFT LCD Color Display 및 Touch Screen을 장착하여 자동 운전을 위한 각종 조작이 용이하도록 하여 유지관리에 필요한 각종정보를 화면상에 표시하여 조작자로 하여금 PBBC(Passenger Boarding Bridge Controller)의 각종상태를 쉽고 빠르게 파악 할 수 있도록 시뮬레이터를 설계 및 제작을 하였다. 그 결과 기존의 방식보다 성능면은 비슷하였고 기능면에서는 다양하게 기능을 검정을 할 수가 있었다. 향후 연구 지속시 다양한 개선이 되라 보아진다.

  • Because the magnetic bearing supports levitating body without contact, wear, noise and vibration, it is very useful to high revolution machinery. In this paper we selected ATmega 128, a less expensive and widely used micro controller, for control the magnetic bearing system. And we selected the sampling time and the control gain of PID controller through trial-and-error. The control program of the one board controller utilized lookup table to reduce calculation time, and bit shifting for the integer calculation in instead of floating point calculation. As the results, the controller carried out relatively high speed PID control on sampling time 0.25 ms. At last the rotation test for the magnetic bearing system was carried out by 3 phase induction motor and air turbine.

  • Various Cu ions are discharged into water from various industries, which results in a severe trouble for groundwater, soil, air, and eventually animals and humans. In this work, graphene oxide (GO) is introduced as a Cu removal absorber and the real-time monitoring method is demonstrated. The results show that GO is a very effective material to absorb Cu ions in the solution. In addition, the residual Cu ions in the solution is monitored via optical transmittance method, which well match with Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS) analysis.

  • This paper proposes a system that translates the machine independent intermediate micro-programming language(IML) into microcode, using the register allocation algorithm, the microinstruction format and the field information for the target machine emulation on a microprogrammable host machine. The IML, which is for PDP-8 emulation on a microprogrammable hypothsetical 16 bit host machine, is microcoded by the proposed system, and the validity of the algorithm in the proposed system is verified by executing a test program of the target machine on the emulator.

Development of a force measurement device for curling sweeping with load cells (로드셀을 이용한 컬링 스위핑 힘 측정 장치 개발)

  • Curling sweeping is one of important motion to control the position of the curling stone, and sweeping speed and applied force to the broom pad are major research subjects. In this study, a device was developed to measure the force applied to the curling broom pad in curling sweeping motion, and two load cells were mounted between the broom pad and pad holder. Analog signals generated from the load cells were sampled about 300 times per second using a micro controller, and then converted to 10-bit digital signals. Calibration of the load cell and set up of regression equations to convert the measured electrical signals into mass (force) was done by three M1 class weights, and the developed system was designed as wearable device to minimize increasing of total weight of the broom. Same force was applied to the developed system and a force plate that was using as a reference force measurement system in field of sports, and the difference between the measured values were showed about $0.909{\pm}1.375N$(mean and standard deviation). The developed system could be applied other kinds of study which required force measurement function similar to sweeping motion.

  • In this study, an efficiency test was performed by fabricating MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) based 3-axis acceleration sensor modules and an earthquake monitoring system was composed. Data acquisition device (NI-9239) with a 24bit ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) was used for improving the performance of 3-axis acceleration sensor modules and filtered data (100Hz Low Pass Filter) was used for reducing noises. Also this paper focused on detecting meaningful vibration in the building by developing the earthquake monitoring software. If vector sum of 3-axis acceleration is greater than the preset value, the value will be recorded and saved to the file.

Improvement in Capacitor Characteristics of Titanium Dioxide Film with Surface Plasma Treatment (플라즈마 표면 처리를 이용한 TiO2 MOS 커패시터의 특성 개선)

  • Titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$) is a promising dielectric material in the semiconductor industry for its high dielectric constant. However, for utilization on Si substrate, $TiO_2$ film meets with a difficulty due to the large leakage currents caused by its small conduction band energy offset from Si substrate. In this study, we propose an in-situ plasma oxidation process in plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition (PE-ALD) system to form an oxide barrier layer which can reduce the leakage currents from Si substrate to $TiO_2$ film. $TiO_2$ film depositions were followed by the plasma oxidation process using tetrakis(dimethylamino)titanium (TDMAT) as a Ti precursor. In our result, $SiO_2$ layer was successfully introduced by the plasma oxidation process and was used as a barrier layer between the Si substrate and $TiO_2$ film. Metal-oxide-semiconductor ($TiN/TiO_2/P-type$ Si substrate) capacitor with plasma oxidation barrier layer showed improved C-V and I-V characteristics compared to that without the plasma oxidation barrier layer.
