Synthesis of Some New 4,5-dihydro-6-(4-methoxy-3-methylphenyl)-3(2H)-pyridazinone Derivatives (4,5-Dihydro-6-(4-methoxy-3-methylphenyl)-3(2H)-pyridazinone계 화합물의 합성 연구)

  • The present study describes the synthesis of 4,5-dihydro-6-(4-methoxy-3-methylphenyl)-3(2H)-pyridazinone derivatives. The synthesis of the first target compound, 4,5-dihydro-6-(4-methoxy-3-methylphenyl)-3(2H)-pyridazinone (1), was achieved by Friedel-Crafts acylation of o-cresyl methyl ether with succinic anhydride and subsequent cyclization of the intermediary g-keto acid with hydrazine hydrate. Condensation of compound 1 with aromatic aldehydes in the presence of sodium ethoxide affords the corresponding 4-substituted benzyl pyridazinones (3a-d). The dihydropyridazinone 1 underwent dehydrogenation upon treatment with bromine/acetic acid mixture to give (4). Pyridazine (5) has been synthesized upon the reaction of pyridazinone (1) with 1,3-diphenyl-2-propen-1-one under the Michael addition reaction. N-dialkylaminomethyl derivatives 6a-b have been obtained from the reaction of pyridazinone 1 with formaldehyde and secondary amine, whereas reaction of 1 with formaldehyde gives N-hydroxymethyl derivative (7). This study also includes the synthesis of the 3-chloropyridazine derivative 8 in excellent yield by heating pyridazinone 3b in phosphorus oxychloride. The behaviour of the chloro derivative toward sodium azide, benzyl amine and anthranilic acid was also studied. The proposed structures of the products were confirmed by elemental analysis, spectral data and chemical evidence.

  • The publication of genetic epidemiology meta-analyses has increased rapidly, but it has been suggested that many of the statistically significant results are false positive. In addition, most such meta-analyses have been redundant, duplicate, and erroneous, leading to research waste. In addition, since most claimed candidate gene associations were false-positives, correctly interpreting the published results is important. In this review, we emphasize the importance of interpreting the results of genetic epidemiology meta-analyses using Bayesian statistics and gene network analysis, which could be applied in other diseases.

  • The rate constants of the nucleophilic addition of thioglycolic acid to the derivatives $(H,\;p-CH_3,\;p-CH_3O,\;p-Cl,\;p-NO_2)$ of ${\beta}$-nitrostyrene were determined by ultraviolet spectrophotometry. The rate equations which can be applied over a wide pH range were obtained. Therefrom a reaction mechanism was proposed. Above pH 8.5 sulfide anion adds to the double bond (Michael type addtion). However, below pH 8.5, the neutral molecule and $HSCH_2COO^{\theta}$ add to the double bond.

Surface-modified Nanoparticle Additives for Wear Resistant Water-based Coatings for Galvanized Steel Plates

  • Conventional paints for conversion coating applications in steel production derived mainly from water-based polymer dispersions containing several additives actually show good general performance, but suffer from poor scratch and abrasion resistance during use. The reason for this is because the relatively soft organic binder matrix dominates the mechanical surface properties. In order to maintain the high quality and decorative function of coated steel sheets, the mechanical performance of the surface needs to be improved significantly. In fact the wear resistance should be enhanced without affecting the optical appearance of the coatings by using appropriate nanoparticulate additives. In this direction, nanocomposite coating compositions (Nanomer$^{(R)}$) have been derived from water-based polymer dispersions with an increasing amount of surface-modified nanoparticles in aqueous dispersion in order to monitor the effect of degree of filling with rigid nanoparticles. The surface of nanoparticles has been modified for optimum compatibility with the polymer matrix in order to achieve homogeneous nanoparticle dispersion over the matrix. This approach has been extended in such a way that a more expanded hybrid network has been condensed on the nanoparticle surface by a hydrolytic condensation reaction in addition to the quasi-monolayer type small molecular surface modification. It was expected that this additional modification will lead to more intensive cross-linking in coating systems resulting in further improved scratch-resistance compared to simple addition of nanoparticles with quasi-monolayer surface modification. The resulting compositions have been coated on zinc-galvanized steel and cured. The wear resistance and the corrosion protection of the modified coating systems have been tested in dependence on the compositional change, the type of surface modification as well as the mixing conditions with different shear forces. It has been found out that for loading levels up to 50 wt.-% nanoparticles, the mechanical wear resistance remains almost unaffected compared to the unmodified resin. In addition, the corrosion resistance remained unaffected even after $180^{\circ}$ bending test showing that the flexibility of coating was not decreased by nanoparticle addition. Electron microscopy showed that the inorganic nanoparticles do not penetrate into the organic resin droplets during the mixing process but rather formed agglomerates outside the polymer droplet phase resulting in quite moderate cross linking while curing, because of viscosity. The proposed mechanisms of composite formation and cross linking could explain the poor effect regarding improvement of mechanical wear resistance and help to set up new synthesis strategies for improved nanocomposite morphologies, which should provide increased wear resistance.

  • Iron alkynyl(amino)carbene complexes, (${\beta}$-aminovinyl)carbene complexes, ${\eta}^3$-(2-(alkylcarbonyl)vinyl)carbene complexes, and a 3-aminoallenylidene complex were formed in the reactions of iron alkynyl(ethoxy)carbene complexes with amines. The ratio of the products, which were formed by substitution reaction, the Michael addition of amines, rearrangements after the addition reaction, and the addition followed by the elimination of the ethoxy group, respectively, was dependent on reaction temperature, the substituent of the alkynyl moiety, and employed amines.

  • The present work is devoted to study the interaction of $\beta$-aroylacrylic acid derivative (3) with malononitrile in (DMF) in the presence of piperidine and/or ammonium acetate, then using the formed compounds as starting materials for synthesizing fused and isolated heterocyclic systems. It has been established that the $\beta$-aroylacrylic acid (3) reacts with malononitrile in (DMF) in the presence of piperidine as a catalyst with the formation of 4H-pyran derivative (4). By changing the catalyst into ammonium acetate, pyridine derivative (5) has been obtained. Also the N-maleamic acid derivatives (19) and (27) have been synthesized via the interaction of (4) and (5) with maleic anhydride. The purpose of this step is to study the behavior of the formed maleamic acid derivatives – as analogies of $\beta$-aroylacrylic acids – towards different active methylene compounds under Michael addition reaction.

  • Novel bis- and tris-crown ethers were synthesized from 1-aza and diaza-crown ethers with 2-acryloyloxy-methyl crown ethers through Michael addition. The synthesized bis- and tris-crown ethers were characterized by their elemental analyses, $^1H$-NMR, $^{13}C$-NMR, mass spectra, IR spectra, respectively. The complexation behavior of the bis- and tris-crown ethers with $Li^+$, $Na^+$, $Na^+$, $Rb^+$, $Cs^+$ was examined by $^1H$-NMR, FAB mass, and UV spectrometry.

  • An efficient synthesis of 1,5-Benzothiazepines via Michael addition of corresponding (E)-1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-3-(4-(phenylthio)phenyl)prop-2-en-1-one is described under ultrasound irradiation. A series of novel 2-((E)-2,3-dihydro-2-(4-(phenylthio)phenyl)benzo[b][1,4]thiazepin-4-yl)phenol derivatives was confirmed on the basis of $^1H$ NMR, Mass, IR spectral data and Elemental analysis. The synthesized compounds were evaluated for their antimicrobial activities. Most of the compounds were found to be comparable potent than the reference standard drugs. Utilization of ultrasound irradiation, simple reaction conditions, isolation, and purification makes this manipulation very interesting from an economic and environmental perspective.

  • In order to evaluate spring-back behavior in automotive sheet forming processes, a panel shape idealized as a SS-rail has been investigated. After spring-back kas been predicted fer SS-rails using the finite element analysis, results has been compared with experimental measurements for three automotive sheets. To account for hardening behavior such as the Bauschinger and transient effects in addition to anisotropic behavior, the combined isotropic-kinematic hardening law based on the Chaboche type single-surface model and a recently developed non-quadratic anisotropic yield function have been utilized, respectively.
