미량 Sn을 함유한 AZ91 마그네슘 합금의 미세조직 및 기계적 특성 (Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of AZ91 Magnesium Alloy Containing a Small Amount of Sn)

  • Microstructural features were comparatively investigated in AZ91 (Mg-9%Al-1%Zn) and AZ91-0.5%Sn alloys, in order to clarify the reason for the enhancement in room temperature tensile properties by the addition of small amount of Sn in Mg-Al-based alloy. In as-cast state, the Sn-containing alloy showed increased YS, UTS and elongation than the Sn-free alloy. The microstructural examination revealed that various factors including finer cell size, reduction of lamellar (${\alpha}+{\beta}$) phase and morphological change of bulky ${\beta}$ phase from partially divorced shape to fully divorced shape, are likely to be responsible for the improvement in tensile properties for the Sn-containing alloy. It is noted that two alloys showed similar tensile properties after solution treatment. This implies that microstructural evolution related to the ${\beta}$ phase plays a key role in better tensile properties in the Sn-containing alloy.

  • The paper describes spectroscopic characteristics of plasma induced in the pulsed YAG laser welding of alloys containing a large amount of volatile elements. The authors have conducted the spectroscopic analyses of laser induced Al-Mg alloys plasma in the air and argon atmosphere. In the air environment the identified spectra were atomic lines of Al, Mg, Cr, Mn, Cu, Fe and Zn and singly ionized Mg lines as well as the intense molecular spectra of ALO and MgO formed by chemi-cal reactions of evaporated Al and Mg atoms from the pool surface with oxygen in the air. In argon atmosphere MgO and AlO spectra vanished but AlH spectrum was detected. the hydrogen source was presumable hydrogen dissolved in the base metals water absorbed on the surface oxide layer or $H_2$ and $H_2O$ in the shielding gas. The resonant lines of Al and Mg were strongly self-absorbed in particular self-absorption of the Mg line was predominant. These results show that the laser induced plasma was made of metallic vapor with relatively low temperature and high density.

  • The overall objective of this study is to investigate the effect of Ag addition on the mechanical properties and microstructure of rapid solidified 7000 Al series alloys. Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys with small amounts of Ag was fabricated into the powder by gas atomization. The powder was extruded after the cold compaction and degassing and then followed by T6 heat treatment. Microstructure observation, phase analysis, room and high temperature tensile test and hardness test were pursued. The tensile strength and hardness of Ag-added alloy after heat treatment was increased with increasing Ag contents. However, the elongation of extruded alloys was not increased as much as to be expected. The reason of this result seems to be related to $the{\Omega}$ phase, which contribute to the high temperature strength stability of Al-Cu-Zn alloys through the formation of eutectoid with Ag addition.

자동차 차체 보호를 위한 산화방지 장치의 성능 평가 (Performance Evaluation of Antioxidizing Device for Protection of Car Body)

  • 차체의 산화를 방지하기 위하여 희생적 양극을 사용한 산화방지 장치를 개발하였다. 희생적 양극은 철보다 산화 전위가 높은 Mg, Al, Zn으로 만들어 졌고 이것은 차체의 철이나 철합금보다 먼저 산화되어 차체의 부식을 방지한다. 차체 산화방지 장치를 제작하여 철시편을 염산, 질산 및 황산에 대한 방식효과를 시간에 따라 측정하였고 SEM과 XPS를 이용하여 철시편 표면의 방식효과를 분석하였다. 철시편을 산화 방지 장치에 연결하면 산화되어 산성용액 속으로 녹아 들어가는 철의 양이 현저하게 감소하고 철시편 표면의 산화가 방지되며 산화된 철은 $Fe_2O_3$의 산화형태를 가짐을 확인하였다. 따라서 차체 산화방지를 차체에 직접 부착한다면 차체의 부식 및 산화를 효과적으로 방지할 것으로 기대된다.

  • In this study, microstructural changes due to extrusion, rolling and heat treatment were studied to fabricate Al-4.0wt%Zn-1.5wt%Mg-0.9wt%Cu alloys with homogeneous microstructure suitable for metal cases of smart phones and electronic products fabricated through plastic working. After extrusion microstructure and texture were developed very differently on the surface and inside. Inside, coarse grains were formed and a strong Cube component orientation was developed. On the surface, a weak texture was developed with small grains. After 72% cold rolling the intensity of the Cube component orientation was lower, and uniform texture was developed in all the layers and the R-value was uniformly predicted. After recrystallization, the grain size difference between at the surface and the inside is smaller, when 72% rolling was performed, indicating that a uniform structure is formed. Texture develops almost randomly after recrystallization and exhibits uniform R-values at all layers.

  • Ti-6Al-4V alloys have been widely used as orthopedic materials because of their excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. However, it does not bind directly to the bone, so it requires a surface modification. This problem can be solved by nanotube and micropore formation. Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) treatment for micropore, which combines high-voltage spark and electrochemical oxidation, is a new way of forming a ceramic coating on light metals such as titanium and its alloys. This method has excellent reproducibility and can easily control the shape and size of the Ti alloy. In this study, formation of bioactive surface by PEO-treatment after $2^{nd}$ ATO technique of Ti-6Al-4V alloy was invesgated by various instrument. Nanotube oxide surface structure was formed on the surface by anodic oxidation treatment in 0.8 wt.% NaF and 1M $H_3PO_4$ electrolytes. After nanotube formation, nanotube layer was removed by ultrasonic cleaning. PEO-treatment was carried out at 280V for 3 minutes in the electrolytic solution containing the bioactive substance (Mg, Zn, Mn, Sr, and Si). The surface of Ti-6Al-4V alloy was observed by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM, S-4800 Hitachi, Japan). An energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS, Inca program, Oxford, UK) was used to analyze the spectra of physiologically active Si, Mn, Mg, Zn, and Sr ions. The PEO film formed on the Ti-6Al-4V alloy surface was characterized using an X-ray diffractometer (TF-XRD, X'pert Philips, Netherlands). It is confirmed that bioactive ions play an essential role in the normal bone growth and metabolism of the human skeletal tissues.

압출성 향상을 위한 고강도 7000계 알루미늄 합금의 제조 및 압출한계선도 (Manufacture of 7000 Al Alloy with Superior Extrudability and Its Extrusion Limit Diagram)

  • 7000 series Al alloy with good mechanical properties has been focused with tendency to reduce the components weight of aircraft and automobile. However, it is difficult to manufacture a sound extruded product because of segregation, grain growth, casting defect, surface defect, decreasing extrudability and so on. The objective of this study is to manufacture a new 7000 al alloy more than the extrudability of A7N01 and A7003 through controlling the weight (%) Mg, Zn, Si. Hot extrusion experiments on the axisymmetric rod are performed in 500℃ and also performed analysis of the same process using unmerical analysis method, a coupled rigid-thermoviscoplastic finite element method. Extrusion limit diagram was obtained for the developed alloy by FE-simulation in order to define the relationship of extrusion speed and initial billet temperature.

용탕단조법에 의해 제조된 Mg-9Al-2Zn합금의 시효거동 및 기계적 성질 (The Aging Behaviors and Mechanical Properties of Mg-9Al-2Zn Alloy Fabricated by Squeeze Casting)

  • 용탕단조법에 의해 제조된 Mg-9AI-2Zn 합금을 미세조직관찰, 미소경도측정, 인장시험 등을 행하여 시효거동과 기계적 성질을 조사하였다. 용탕에 가압을 한 결과 주조결함이 제거된 미세한 주조조직을 얻었으며 미세조직은 초정 $\alpha$(Mg 고용체), 과포화고용체 $\alpha$상 및 $\beta$(Mg$_{17}$AI$_{12}$)화합물의 3가지 상으로 구성되어 있었다. 16$0^{\circ}C$및 20$0^{\circ}C$에서 시효열처리한 결과 $\beta$석출물에 의한 피크 경도값이 나타났으며 피크경도에서의 석출물의 형태는 lamella 형태의 불연속 석출물이 대부분이었고 과시효에 따라 불연속석출물의 조대화와 함께 연속석출물의 분율이 증가하였다. 용탕단조방법에 의해 제조된 Mg-9AI-2Zn 합금의 인장특성은 인장강도 261.4MPa, 연산율 7.6%로서 상용 AZ 92 합금보다 인장강도 및 연신율에서 우수한 기계적 성질을 가졌는데 이는 Zn의 고용강화 및 용탕의 가압에 의한 효과였다.다.

Performance of Hot-dip Zn-6%Al-3%Mg Alloy Coated Steel Sheet as Automotive Body Material

  • For the purpose of applying a hot-dip Zn-6mass%Al-3mass%Mg alloy coated steel sheet (ZAM) to automotive body materials, a laboratory study of the general properties required for inner and outer panels of automotive bodies was performed. Even with only light coating weight, ZAM showed an excellent corrosion resistance in terms of both cosmetic and perforation corrosion compared to the currently used materials for automotive bodies, GI70 and GA45. In our study, it was confirmed that ZAM exhibits as good as or better properties than GI70 in terms of spot weldability and press formability. Furthermore, since the same corrosion resistance can be achieved with less coating weight by applying ZAM, laser weldability is better than GI and GA.

상용 7xxx Series Al 합금계 혼합분말의 소결 특성 (A study on Sintering Characteristics of Commercial 7xxx Series Al Alloy Powders)

  • The sintering characteristics of commercial 7xxx series Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy have been investigated. Sintering system of this blended elemental powder has aspects of both transient and supersolidus liquid phase sintering. Transient liquids occur when the constitution point during sintering lies in a solid phase region but where the sintering temperature is greater than either the melting point of one of the constituent or a eutectic temperature. Supersolidus liquid phase sintering occurs when a preblended powder is heated to a temperature between the solidus and liquids. However, these reaction were restrained their inter diffusion due to the appearance of the oxide film. Thus, 7xxx series Al alloy is extremely sensitive to process variables, including particle size, holding time and sintering temperature. Therefore, above phenomenons were observed formation and behaviour of the liquid by using SEM and DSC.
