In this study, high performance electrode catalyst was developed in fabrication of membrane electrode assembly for PEMFCs(Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells). The I-V characteristics were measured to evaluate the influence of Nafion solution and Pt loading amount in the catalyst composition. The electrode characteristics were also investigated with respect to temperature change. The electrode performance was optimized at Nafion 5 wt% and 0.5 mg Pt/$\textrm{cm}^2$ content. The increase in the concentration of Nafion solution resulted in the decrease in electrode performance. At $80^{\circ}C$ of unit cell, I-V characteristics excelled those obtained at lower temperature. There was no difference in performance at low current density, but the improvement of voltage value in higher temperature could be found at high current density.
The aim of this research was to evaluate the performance of insoluble electrode for the purpose of degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) and oxidants generation [N,N-Dimethyl-4-nitrosoaniline (RNO, indicator of OH radical), $O_3$, $H_2O_2$, free Cl, $ClO_2$)]. Methods: Four kinds of electrodes were used for comparison: DSA (dimensional stable anode; Pt and JP202 electrode), Pb and boron doping diamond (BDD) electrode. The effect of applied current (0.5~2.5 A), electrolyte type (NaCl, KCl and $Na_2SO_4$) and electrolyte concentration (0.5~3.5 g/L) on the RNO degradation were evaluated. Experimental results showed that the order of RhB removal efficiency lie in: JP202 > Pb > BDD ${\fallingdotseq}$ > Pt. However, when concerned the electric power on maintaining current of 1 A during electrolysis reaction, the order of RhB removal efficiency was changed: JP202 > Pt ${\fallingdotseq}$ Pb > BDD. The total generated oxidants ($H_2O_2$, $O_3$, free Cl, $ClO_2$) concentration of 4 electrodes was Pt (6.04 mg/W) > JP202 (4.81 mg/W) > Pb (3.61 mg/W) > BDD (1.54 mg/W), respectively. JP202 electrode was the best electrode among 4 electrodes from the point of view of performance and energy consumption. Regardless of the type of electrode, RNO removal of NaCl and KCl (chlorine type electrolyte) were higher than that of the $Na_2SO_4$ (sulfuric type electrolyte) RNO removal. Except BDD electrode, RhB degradation and creation tendency of oxidants such as $H_2O_2$, $O_3$, free Cl and $ClO_2$, found that do not match. RNO degradation tendency were considered a simple way to decide the method which is simple it will be able to determinate the electrode where the organic matter decomposition performance is superior. As the added NaCl concentration was increases, the of hydrogen peroxide and ozone concentration increases, and this was thought to increase the quantity of OH radical.

We investigated the effects of electrochemical characteristics and generation of chlorine by the different amount of Ru coating which was prepared for $RuO_2$/Ti electrode coated with 1.5 mg, 2.5 mg, 5.5 mg, 8.5 mg Ru per unit area ($cm^2$). As a Result of the cycle voltammetry experiments, chlorine overvoltage of Ru-coated electrodes showed to be the nearly sustained value of approximately 1.15V (vs. Ag/AgCl). By contrary, According to the results of the AC impedance spectroscopy and potentiodynamic polarization tests, the amount of Ru per unit area ($cm^2$) included 2.5 mg, 3.5 mg as $RuO_2$/Ti offered the highest levels of durability which was electrode resistance and corrosion rate appeared to be $0.4582{\Omega}$, $0.5267{\Omega}$ and 0.082 mm/yr, 0.058 mm/yr, respectively. It was also observed that generation of chlorine coated with 3.5 mg per unit area ($cm^2$) was the highest value of 15.2 mg/L.

The power characteristics of the Mg-Air fuel cell were investigated with regard to variation of load conditions. The types of load current using for the Mg-Air fuel cell with 10% NaCl electrolyte were step type, ramp type and pulse type. It was found that transient phenomena occurred in the step current load, which is due to activate of the oxidation-reduction reaction process. And the transient time increase with the load current increase. In the load current of ramp type, the slop of voltage drop increased with current load slop ${\alpha}$ increase. The load voltage and power decreased according to the pulse period of load current decrease were attributed to the metal sludges.
We investigated to find the optimum operation condition of electrolysis which have an influence on removal efficiency of heavy metals. When we experimented the testing wastewaters containing each 250mg/L of Cu and Ni ions, we got the variables like as pH, amount of electrolyte(NaCl), different species of electrode, electrode gap, electric strength, the number of electrodes, after fastening positive electrode plate with Al, Fe, Ti and negative electrode plate with Stainless Steel plate.
Complex formation of magnesium-Eriochrome Black T at constant ionic strength and hydrogen ion concentration have been studied spectrophotometrically in acetonitrile solution. The measured pH values were calibrated with standard buffer solutions by using a glass electrode Ag/0.1M $AgNO_3$ reference electrode couple. The results are as follows;$E_{glass}=716+59.1\;logA_{H+}[mv]$+(in mv. vs. Ag reference electrode for picric acid $-10^{-3}M$ tetramethylammonium picrate buffer), and $E_{glass}=1,193+59.1\;logA_{H+}[mv]$(in mv. vs. Ag reference electrode for 1,3-diphenylguanidine $-3{\times}10^{-3}M $ 1,3-diphenylguanidine perchlorate buffer). The acid dissociation exponent of ligand, $ pK_{H,EBT-}$was found to be 9.1. The conditional formation constants of $MgEBT^{-}$complex by log-ratio method were 3.97 (when m = 2) and 5.02 (when m = 1) as $log K_n$, respectively, for the reaction of $H_mEBT^{(3-m)-} + Mg^{2+} {\leftrightarrow}MgEBT^{-} + mH^{+}$. The present study showed that$MgEBT^{-}$ has the composition of 1:1 which agrees with the result of Schwarzenbach et al. in aqueous solution.

Lithium-sulfur batteries, recently attracting attention as next-generation batteries, have high energy density but are limited in application due to sulfur's insulating properties, shuttle phenomenon, and volume expansion. This study used an economical and simple vacuum filtration method to prepare a freestanding electrode without a binder and collector. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are used to improve the electrical conductivity of sulfur, where CNT also acts as both collector and conductor. In addition, metal oxides (MOx, M=Ni, Mg), which are easy to adsorb lithium polysulfide, are added to the CNT/S electrode to suppress the shuttle reaction in lithium-sulfur batteries, which is a result of suppressing the loss of active sulfur material due to the excellent adsorption of lithium polysulfide by metal oxides. The MOx@CNT/S electrode exhibited higher capacity characteristics and cycle stability than the CNT/S electrode without metal oxides. Among the MOx@CNT/S electrodes, the NiO@CNT/S electrode displayed a high discharge capacity of 780 mAh g-1 at 1 C and an extreme capacity decrease to 134 mAh g-1 after 200 cycles. Although the MgO@CNT/S electrode exhibited a low discharge rate of 544 mAh g-1 in the initial cycle, it showed good cycle stability with 90% of capacity retention up to 200 cycles. Further, to achieve high capacity and cycle stability, the Ni0.7Mg0.3O@CNT/S electrode, mixed with Ni:Mg in the ratio of 0.7:0.3, manifested an initial discharge rate of 755 mAh g-1 (1 C) and a capacity retention rate of more than 90% after 200 cycles. Therefore, applying binary metal oxides to CNT/S provides a freestanding electrode for developing economical and high-performance Li-S batteries, effectively improving lithium polysulfide's high capacity characteristics and dissolution.
Magnesium alloy is used on parts of aircraft and electronic equipment because of the highest specific strength among the common metal materials. Recently, studies about appling magnesium alloy sheet to automotive bodies are on the increase rapidly. For application to automotive bodies, researches about characteristics of resistance spot welding of magnesium alloy sheet are essential. Magnesium alloy has low boiling point, so getting sound bead shape is difficult when appling varies welding processes. Resistance spot welding is also particular about setting optimum welding conditions because of spatter generation, pores and cracks occurrence in nugget. And life of electrodes is very short because of alloying with copper that main material of electrodes. This requires frequent dressing and replacement of electrodes and decrease in productivity of resistance spot welding on magnesium alloy. Therefore in this study, for effective analysis of changes in tensile shear load and nugget size during electrode life test, evaluate detail characteristics of resistance spot welding on magnesium alloy sheet using dome type electrode.
