역산문제 방법을 적용한 제네릭 의약품 개발 프로세스의 강건 설계 (Integrating Inverse problem to robust design for a generic drug development process)

  • Robust design (RD) has emerged as a key feature in process design and development for more than twenty years. Many researchers and industrial engineers around the world have invested their intensive efforts to develop and apply RD in many fields in order to improve quality of output products. However, there is also room for improvement. The primary objective of this research is to determine "robust formulation" of a medicine by checking its gelation index. In order to achieve this target, based on the nature of problem, at first, a customized experimental format is designed for obtaining data. Second, time-depended responses based models are developed by the proposed inverse problem (IP) methodology. Third, an RD model based on mean square error (MSE) concept is introduced for time-depended responses. Finally, the proposed approach is illustrated by a case study while comparing obtained results to the response surface methodology (RSM) approach.

외란 제거 제어기의 실제적인 설계 및 구현 방법 (Practical Design and Implementation Methodology for Disturbance Rejection Controller)

  • 본 논문은 외란 제거 제어기의 실제적인 설계와 구현방법을 제안한다. 2 DOF 구조에서는 외란 제거의 성능은 순 방향 루프 제어기의 고 이득 없이 개선될 수 있다. 그러나, 2 DOF의 설계 방법이 2 DOF 수학적인 이론에 근거하기 때문에 다양한 응용 분야의 사용이 쉽지 않았다. 외란 관측기(Disturbance Observer, DOB)는 간단하지만, 매우 효과적인 2 DOF 제어기이다. 이 논문에서 기본적인 DOB 특성부터 설계와 구현의 기술적인 방법까지 실제적인 문제를 다룬다. 또한 실질적인 방법에 의하여 모델링하는 방법과 그 예를 설명하였다. 제안한 방법은 두 가지의 선형 모터 시스템으로 유용함을 증명하였다.

세라믹 밸브 인서트의 최근 개발동향 (Current design methodology for ceramic valve seat insert)

  • 1) Natural gas engine에서 intake valve와 valve seat insert가 exhuast valve와 valve seat insert보다 마모가 심하다. 2) Ceramic valve seat insert을 금속재료를 사용하는 것이 보다 더욱 효과적이다. 즉 적어도 3배 정도 마모가 적게 일어난다. 3) Ceramic valve와 ceramic valve seat insert로 결합한 경우 valve face 또는 stem 부위에서 응력이 집중되어 파손된다. 따라서 현재의 ceramic valve design methodology로는 ceramic valve은 좋은 결과를 얻을 수 없다. 4) 가장 효과적인 결합은 Tribolloy 800의 hardfacing 합금의 valve와 질화규소의 valve seat insert이다.

크랭크스로 단조강의 피로수명의 확률분포 추정 (Estimation of Probability Distribution of Fatigue Lives in Crank Throw Forged Steel)

  • Because of the severe service environment of the large marine vessel, the fatigue strength and its evaluation play an important role in design and maintenance of marine crankshaft. The aim of this work is to investigate the probability distribution of fatigue lives in crank throw forged steel and to develop the methodology for estimation of the probabilistic design fatigue strength. Detailed studies were performed on the constant amplitude axial loading fatigue test. The experiments were controlled by stress ratio of -1 and 15Hz frequency for each stress level. The considerable variability of fatigue life was observed in each stress level under rigidly controlled constant fatigue testing conditions. The fatigue life of crank throw forged steel was well followed the log-normal and Weibull distribution. In addition, it can be used for the estimation of probabilistic design fatigue strength by using the proposed methodology.

동특성 강건 설계를 이용한 사출품의 휨 최소화 (Minimization of Warpage of Injection Molded Parts using Dynamic Robust Design)

  • This paper presents a heuristic process-optimization procedure for minimizing warpage in injection-molded parts based on the dynamic robust design methodology. The injection molding process is known to have intrinsic variations of its process conditions due to various factors, including incomplete process control facilities. The aim of the robust design methodology advocated by Taguchi is to determine the optimum design variables in a system which is robust to variations in uncontrollable factors. The proposed procedure can determine the optimal robust conditions of injection molding processes at a minimum cost through a trade-off strategy between the degree of warpage and the packing time.

Optimality criteria based seismic design of multiple tuned-mass-dampers for the control of 3D irregular buildings

  • Multiple tuned mass dampers (MTMDs) tuned to various frequencies have been shown to efficiently control the seismic response of structures where multiple modes are dominant. One example is irregular structures that are found more vulnerable than their symmetric counterparts. With the technology of MTMDs available, design and optimal design methodologies are required for application. Such a methodology, in the form of an analysis/redesign (A/R) scheme, has been previously presented by the authors while limiting responses of interest to allowable values, i.e., performance-based design (PBD). In this paper, the A/R procedure is modified based on formal optimality criteria, making it more cost efficient, as well as more computationally efficient. It is shown that by using the methodology presented herein, a desired performance level is successfully targeted by adding near-optimal amounts of mass at various locations and tuning the TMDs to dampen several of the structure's frequencies. This is done using analysis tools only.

  • In the preliminary design stage of an automotive interior, human sensibility is first analyzed and applied to design parameters for satisfying consumers needs using optimization and engineering judgement. Then designers try to design components that meet these needs using empirical and trial-and-error procedures. This process usually yields poor results because it is difficult to find a feasible design that satisfies the targets by trial-and-error (a feasible design is one that satisfies consumers needs and design constraints). To improve this process, we need tools to link the human sensibility with the design parameters that define the geometry of the components of an automotive interior. A methodology is presented for developing a tool for design guidance of an automotive interior. This tool translates the human sensibility into the design parameters that define the geometry of the components of an automotive interior. This tool, called interpreter, rapidly predicts the human sensibility of a given automotive interior and presents design parameters that meet or exceed given human sensibility to satisfy consumers needs and design constraints. The methodology is demonstrated on the interior design of an actual automotive.
